It's time we stop making excuses for them. The boy went and say down when girl, about 6 made beeline for both dogs and never asked the owners of it was ok to touch them. Both men said no, don't touch, they are assistance dogs and working, says on their coats. Woman was quite adamant her kid be allowed to touch them, told her to stop being so self entitled and sit her backside down, they said no, what part of that don't you understand, ignorant woman. She soon shut up and say when she saw I meant business. Stupid woman doesn't realise how many kids get bitten by dogs they don't know and blame the owners, especially after they have been warned to stay away from the animal. Hi John! I don't know about you, but I am so happy with the new signs! To be honest with you, I love your channel, but I actually started to not watch everyday like I used to. It had nothing to do with you, you are a great, classy man and I really enjoy all the information that you provide and your tours. It was really hard to stomach these people touching the horses and the guards. There is no reason for it, just take a picture and go I have sent letters to the Parliment and any place I could about it. Of course I did not receive any responses, LOL, but I tried! I am surrounded by the military over here in North Carolina (originally from NY) and even soldiers from the military here were so upset about the treatment of the guards and horses, it is always being talked about. You can't do that here, you would be arrested and most likely be face planted into the pavement! You cannot touch military dogs, soldiers, police horses or police K9's, and no one really would even think about doing that. They really just need to paint border lines around the horse. I think it would be very simple to do and it would keep people from getting so close so they don't have to shout, the sign could read Beware horse can kick or bite, stay behind the lines. Then the guards only have to say get back or get behind the line. Then the police officers could pay more attention to the other guards that get disrespected. I have been trying to get to London for years, but life kept getting in the way. My grandmother was from Liverpool and loved and missed her country. She passed at 100 and had so many stories of growing up there. During the war she used to run messages to help out between buildings because all other communication was shut down. She would have been so heartbroken to see the guards and horses disrespected. Then the police officers can pay more attention to the other guards that get disrespected. Anyway, I'm hoping that the guards start enforcing the new rule, then maybe they can get some respect from these people.

Why weren’t the troopers told about the no touch rule before they went into the box? I am so pleased that in a short time the stupid touching will cease and those beautiful horse will not be pestered again. Come on shout at them please. There is no excuse that they don’t speak English, their phones translate it for them. Keep up the good work John.
@monicawarner40912 ай бұрын
The first two Blues and Royals came in separately from the rest of their troop, who rode in after the outgoing Lifeguards had left. As they were in the boxes, they couldn't be told about the new signs by their officer. The Lifeguard troop which was leaving may well have passed the message on, but the new boxmen have to wait until told by their commanding officer what they are allowed to do. 😊

It’s about time. As a lifelong equestrian, I’ve always found it extremely odd that just anyone was allowed to approach their horses. I would never allow strangers (and some people I know) just walk up and pet/touch my horses. One of my show horses WILL bite if you invade his space and I’ve seen the damage.. not fun . lol

Oh my goodness!! When I read, and reread your title, I couldn't believe my eyes! So grateful that the horses are finally being put first, and are not there to satisfy every whim of the tourists! These are working horses, and tourists were treating them as if it was their own pet! Not only that, but people continued to grab at the horse's head gear constantly, with the guards having to be super watchful, as the tourists would do everything to push the envelope! Unexpected? Yes! Needed? Absolutely! This is a wonderful thing for the horses and the guards. Of course the tourists won't like it, nor will the numerous channels that are there at every moment, only to capture the drama of the horses biting, or people getting injured! Your channel has never needed all the drama that other channels thrive on, so this won't affect your channel. / 57:03 - Why is this trooper not speaking up? He's letting EVERYONE touch his horse! It's utterly ridiculous! The only way this works is if the guards enforce it!
@monicawarner40912 ай бұрын
Because as John and his friend explained, the Blues and Royals troopers who came on this morning probably wouldn't have been told about the new signs. Hopefully, the ones who arrived later will have been told about them before going in the box.

@@monicawarner4091 Thanks Monica. I honestly missed that part. I guess I got way too excited about the signs, and didn't fully hear what John said. I guess I expected that it was something they'd be told before going out. Hey, I have no problem admitting it when it's clearly my own fault. 🤪 It's like Judge Judy always said: "There's a reason that god gave us two ears and only one mouth!" 😂 So, thanks again Monica! @@Kimberly-dn4mc • John was talking to his photographer friend at the time. Did you see, near the very end of the video, the photographer pointing out the new sign to a woman who had gone up to stroke the horse? She wasn't best pleased and had a go at him...and then at John who hadn't said a word. 😆 It was round about then that John gave his opinion on what must have happened. A thought occurred to me later, that surely one of the Lifeguard Troopers in the stables would have told the first 2 Blues Troopers to ride in about the new signs. Then I thought that even if the Blues & Royal Guards knew, they might not have been able to say anything to the tourists until their commanding officer had told them officially that they could. Let's just hope that more people will respect the new signs than respected the "don't touch the reins" ones. 🤞 Edit • I can't believe how elated I'm feeling after learning that some horses and soldiers, in a place I'll never get the chance to see, are finally going to get some ptotection from disrespectful tourists. What we need now are notices telling tourists not to touch a Guard or any part of his/her uniform...especially the Gatesman and Chitsman. Best wishes...now we can celebrate! 😊

At 34:41, you missed the boy and two girls with the Chitsman. The adorable littlest girl was holding a sign saying the Chitsman was their big brother. 🫠🥰 Anyway, I'm glad the horses are no longer allowed to be touched. With the ridiculous amount of visitors, the poor horses get stressed out with all the crowding. At least it's up to the guards to make that call now. So, I can see them making exceptions for special needs kids/groups and for those bringing mints, apples, carrots, etc. Personally, I would never let a stranger feed my horse.

YES at last the horses will be so much more relaxed, the guards will have to tell people not to touch, The difficulty will be for people that do not understand English but I am so pleased. The horses are NOT there for show and to be continually mauled as most people know they are working and should be shown respect for that. I suspect the guards will still stop the rein grabbing, the previous notice didn't say it but the guards still stopped it. Onwards and upwards.

People should not feed the horses full stop. The horses are fed very well on a good diet so that should stop anyway. The notice should be written properly to include no reign grabbing, no feeding, no touching. And that should stop the circus and allow the guards and horses to do the job in hand.

I agree. However I’m in business and you really have to keep signs very simple. Half the people don’t bother to read more than one sentence. And besides you have foreign tourists who don’t understand much English here. And use translation apps that are notoriously bad at good translation.

I’m going against the flow here….but it saddens me that it’s come to this😟. Many of the horses enjoyed the attention(note: i obviously don’t mean here when they’re being mauled by way too many hands, but that was not always the case) I feel sad for the hundreds of tourists both international and domestic who are perfectly respectful, and will now not get the chance to pat these beautiful animals, and make a memory of a lifetime. Many of the tourists have never seen such beautiful horses up close, in some cases ANY horse…….many are people who love horses, and maybe had them before and miss them or have never had the chance to be close to them. Honestly if I was visiting I’d be SO disappointed and saddened. Yes I know the situation was getting out of hand but this, frankly, is sad. Not to mention it doesn’t change a major stressor which is the sheer press of numbers and their noise at ALL. There were other ways to handle it that could have assisted in easing those issues too, but I guess tape is cheaper, right? In all honesty, it’s going to be as messy as all hell to revert from an uncontrolled free for all to zip, zero, nada, and if I may say, typically unnuanced army thinking. Military thought tends to “all or nothing” and ignoring the myriad gradations in between black and white. I’m not optimistic that this will have the results they’re hoping for any time soon. On the upside, yay for getting at least one of the LifeGuard question marks off my list…..thanks for that. Right now I’m gonna go have a cuppa and I’ll watch the rest of the video later John, cos right now I’m a bit disheartened by it all😞

I don't think they want to " deface" the cobbles by the horses by painting lines on them. The same that the signs are unobtrusive. As a Brit I feel that using red on black or red on white for the signs would be beneficial, they would stand out a bit more. Not wanting things to stand out seems to allow people to ignore the signs. Though the word seems to be out that people shouldn't touch the horses, only one person has done it so far and it was stated that she is a 'regular' in which case she should have known better and NOT set a bad example.
@Golden1989-days2 ай бұрын
@@jillp3761 Nah. I saw several people touching the horses and not being stopped. In fact if this gentleman checks back somebody touched the horse on the right whilst he was chatting to somebody alongside him. Signs should have fewer words and only one font. Horses can bite and kick. Do not touch. Thank you. Or even better. These horses are working. Do not touch or get near.
@KidarWolf2 ай бұрын
@@jillp3761 I think it could be done to be quite sensitive to the appearance, if it were to be done using inlaid brick or paving of a contrasting color to the existing paving, but that's obviously a longer-term solution that would require significant planning permission applications due to the building, and paving surrounding it, being likely to be a listed building.
