↓ LYRICS ↓
Woke up this morning and the streets were full of cars
All bright and shiny like they'd just arrived from Mars
And as I stumbled through last nights drunken debris
The paperboy screamed out the headlines in the street
Another war and now the pound is looking weak
And tell me have you read about the latest freak?
We're bingo numbers and our names are obsolete
Why do I feel bitter when I should be feeling sweet?
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Just when you think you learned how to use it
It's gone
Woke up this morning and my head was in a daze
A brave new world had dawned upon the human race
Where words are meaningless and everything's surreal
Gonna have to reach my friends to find out how I feel
And if I taste the honey, is it really sweet?
And do I eat it with my hands or with my feet?
Does anybody really listen when I speak?
Or will I have to say it all again next week?
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Tell me what went wrong
Oh, oh, oh, oh
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Life is a strange thing
Hello, hello, turn your radio on
Is there anybody out there?
Help me sing my song
Oh, oh, oh, oh
La, la, la, life is a strange thing
Just when you think you learned how to use it
It's gone

That takes some balls. 🙂 I’d ask you about the drugs you were on, but then again, it must have been something psychedelic- like shrooms or anarchy 😂😂 I hope it wasn’t just alcohol, because it only lowers inhibitions. It doesn’t change what we feel or think. Mind, does your post make sense to YOU? Just curious. You know, I used to study languages and literature, but even Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot make a lot more sense. 😂😂 Anyway, just to be sure: I said „harmonics“. Not harmony.

There were moments I think with Bananaz when we saw hints of Fahey's true abilities as a songwriter, but for me this is her crown - that penny drop moment when you realize the talent you're listening to. As a modern pop song this is just perfect - perhaps too good. What could be improved upon? Marcy, of course, has always been Marcy - in my opinion, a musical genius. When you have the likes of Eric Clapton head-hunting you and then co-writing songs with you, what more need be said. But it's this song I think with it's simplicity in lyrics and directness - even a bit of flippancy - that really epitomizes the band's sound at the time. Love it.

Não acredito que estou "descobrindo" essa pérola somente agora! O refrão é mesmo uma referência com Pink Floyd? Sensacional!

I was turning 16 by that time and I remember the first time that I listened to this song : what the hell is this amazing sound...?? Of course, since then, I'm a solo guitar lover. Because of this guitar solo. One of the greatest songs ever. The 90" s were unique.

The harmonies on this song are out of this world. This is so much better than "Stay" in my opinion. Just much more emotional and resonates more

I don‘t know if this has been already mentioned, but…can we take a moment to think about how foreboding the line „gonna have to reach my friends to find out how I feel“ is, in a world way before social media?

@@briantitchener4829 Hi Brian, may be he/she is too young, or has no really known about the text. Due to my English is not mother's, I need at first to research for the lyrics and translate them, and, sure - to understand. After it I hear this song WITH the text, and not the music only. And the pictures are great and the part of the whole story. Greetings from Russia
