This is a criminally underrated Channel and especially this video. Thank you so much! Been playing the London System for 3 years now (since I started playing chess) and I'm always excited to see new ideas and a very instructive GM analysis of London System games.

Brilliant game. Your opponent held his own there. Just shows that even the London, despite its reputation for simplicity, can result in some tricky positions. Enjoyed the longer format too Simon.

7:03 keen to create ‘*frets*’ in the opening. Logical, makes sense. No need to damage a perfectly good guitar by breaking off the ‘neck’, obtaining a whole set of frets. I’ll get my coat, a taxi and let myself out. Before that, thanks, Simon, for another interesting and instructive video. Keep ‘Em coming, I’ll keep,on watching & liking.

Really starting to love your content. You play some really aggressive and fun chess and you are one of my favourite players. I really like this time format and look forward to the next one. Also want to give you props for the botvinnik course on chessable. I am plugging away on the short and sweet version and loving it. I will be buying the full version after I've exhausted this one. Great stuff man 👍😎

That was extremely instructive. Thanks so much! And I can definitely see that giving commentary is like giving your opponent big time odds. At the beginning, you mention that, until we're better, we should learn fewer openings, but learn them deeper (middlegame plans). You even mention that we should learn one opening that we play 90% of the time. So, I guess I can't play 1.e4 if I want to follow that advice, because Black might play the Scandinavian, the French, the Caro-Kann, a Petrov, the Pirc, a Sicilian, a Latvian Gambit, etc. This takes all control away from White. I suppose we should aim for some system like the London or King's Indian Attack, or something. And of course, we'd need a system for Black, too.

These slow-play games are the most instructive; the blitz games are the most entertaining, IMO. Although it is important to learn how a GM thinks, it is learning SIMON's thought processes that really matters.

You played Ne5, O-O and f4 as your middle game plan, but in your DVD on the London a few years ago you recommended not castling and pushing the h- pawn instead. Is what you played a better plan now?

London is kinda boring. Other thing that is boring is always playing the same opening. If you're young, getting into chess and perma londoning as white it's not peak performance and stockfish laughs at you when you sleep apnea in Marianas trench

@@i.dream.in.infrared4302 Dont Care. London System is boring (its an opening for lazy players on the white side, in my opinion). The fact that might exist a really good game (or 2 or 3) won´t change my opinion.
