I just bought this exact same Chromebook based on this review and some other research. So far, I am very impressed, this is NOT your Grandfather's Chromebook. I replaced my old Asus Chromebook with this machine and the difference is night and day. Was able to pick it up for $408 from Best Buy - a steal.

I just got this, for a great price $379 new, I LOVE this Chromebook. Yes there are a few things I would change - I would prefer a matte screen, but I guess glossy is better for touch? I wish it had 1 more USB-type-A, but that's minor. I do wish it got a bit brighter, but I only use it indoors so it's never an issue. I love the track-pad, the finger-print sensor, LOVE the backlit keyboard, its so fast compared to my last Chromebook which was low-end

I had the previous model with the i3-8th gen for several months. Insanely good battery life with a nice keyboard and smooth glass trackpad. The touchscreen is a nice feature but I hardly used it on the Chrome Browser to be honest. Did not like the dim display and huge bottom bezels of the old x360 14. This newer x360 14c looks almost the same as the older one I had but with a much thinner screen bezels thank god they fixed that. Still looks a bit dim in his video though. Overall, this 14c is the best bang-for-buck Chromebook if you can get it on sale at BestBuy.They discounted it quite often over the summer before school season started so keep your eyes open.

I got this for 399 on best buy the first week it came out, there was a sale on it plus a 100 student discount at that time but I haven't seen it go back down to that price ever again, happy I decided to sell the HP chromebook x360 14 I had for this one, it's definitely better than the white x360 14 I had

@@yogidabruh9050 so when I got the x360 14c, I still had not sold the other x360 14 I had, I compared them side by side and I found this, the screen although the same resolution was a tiny bit more clearer on the 14c, also the old 14 had a really cool white tone to the screen which would hurt my eyes after hours of use, the new 14c has a warmer white tone that is much more beneficial when using it hours, these are things you don't notice until you actually own the device, also the cool tone on the old 14 caused the colors to look more washed out and the newer 14c had more vibrant colors, also I felt like the build quality was really good on the old white top 14, but the 14c is just much better much more solid especially once you have them in person, it's the same size 14 inch screen in both but the newer 14c has a smaller bezel which is better, a privacy switch for the camera, and a fingerprint sensor, although they have the same size screen the 14c has a smaller physical size due to the reduced bezels, the processor is much better the new 10th gen i3 vs the old 8th gen i3 I have so many more points to go over but I don't want to write to much, I just know from using these devices for long periods of time that the new 14c is much better than the old 14

I really like Chrome OS and I run it on a low end chromebook. The HP would be more than enough. I know when I was Chromebook shopping it was hard not to think I needed the storage, RAM, CPU I would look for on Windows but it's really not comparable. That one looks nice. I still run Windows for a couple of things, if those migrate to Chrome OS I could switch full time.

@@asher6657 Really only 1. I like to collect digital music. iTunes is the best "record store" online (even though iTunes software itself is kind of a mess). It runs on Windows so once I buy some music and it's on the PC it's really easy to copy it to my Android and Chromebook. I think that's it. everything else I do is online. I will also say I have an older laser printer, and a newer webcam, which I can't get working on Chrome OS. Still though I recommend a CB they work great, update super fast, and battery life is better than my Windows laptop.

Picked one up in late 2019 - 64gb, backlit keyboard, etc, and build wise its a BEAST! It's hella heavy and solid as they come. Battery is legit for travel - web browsing, games, movies via sd card, streaming everything, its all good. Sound is really good with the front facing Bang and Olufsen speakers when using as a laptop. Connections are solid for minimal integration. Works well as a web browser on a tv with a connected wireless keyboard. Only thing is, this thing didnt hold ANY value. I'd like to upgrade but the personal value outweighs the resell value. Only reason on the upgrade is the Chrome OS doesnt work with all android apps which is pretty wonky.

I liked your video. It made me feel comfortable about my purchase. I'm still adjusting to going from a PC to a Chrome Book. One thing I have an issue with is the mouse pad does not have a right-click, which is causing me some consternation. I got to find a new way of doing a spell check and copying and pasting. Also, although it runs ZOOM, I have not been able to find a way to use a virtual background. I checked my settings and I do have it enabled, but I can not get to this feature.

It's easy to right click on a Chromebook mousepad. Just use two fingers close together instead of one and viola - you have now right clicked. Try it.

so far finding HP support useless- just got a hp chromebook x360 14c-ca0053dx model - can i change the color of the backlit keyboard. if so, how? everything online so far don't tell how to adjust brightness and/or change color.. i already went into device settings to allow top of keyboard to be used as fkeys.. this accomplished nothing.. some sites say use an fn key (i don't have one) or use the key with 3 dots (don't have that either).. so frustrating - also shocked and angry finger scanner is quite useless.. 9/10 times it asks me to sign in with password.. really difficult to find support on these issues..

To adjust the brightness of the backlit, try pressing alt+the screen brightness button. Not sure if it will work on your chromebook but works on mine.

Good video, I just picked up the 2021 model with the 11th gen processor. DO you know why this wont allow me to edit 4k in an android app, but on my phone and tablet (s21+ and tab s7) they can edit the 4k with no problem on the same app? I would assume the i3 would be more powerful.

I have always appreciated the informative reviews. However, I am wondering if the “in the interest of full disclosure” statement, given at the beginning of a review, should be modified: The “full disclosure” presently does not state when a product is subject to an affiliation agreement, such as viewers buying the product on Amazon for which some compensation is fed back to the reviewer. It seems to me that, in order to encourage the possibility that viewers might buy the product (thereby increasing the compensation to the reviewer because of the affiliate relationship), the reviewer might be prone to giving the product a more favorable review than if the affiliate relationship did not exist. I’m not saying that Lon necessarily performs this bias, but an affiliate relationship opens the possibility and (therefore) the affiliate relationship should at least be part of the “full disclosure”.

I do agree that your reviews have honesty. Your affiliate links are typically disclosed in the video description text when viewed on an appropriate browser for KZbin. However, in the video itself, your reviews do not mention affiliate relationships. So, if one simply watches the video (without consulting the description text), there is no disclosure of the potential remuneration that may be received if people purchase the product (purchased, at least, in a certain way, i.e., via the affiliate link). Many people in fact simply watch the video (without regarding the description text) and on platforms such as Roku / smart TVs the description text is not even displayed / available -- in those cases, there is no disclosure to the viewers unless you were to mention it explicitly in the video itself. So, the Lon.TV video’s “in the interest of full disclosure” announcement itself is incomplete, if there is no mention of affiliate relationships. Not to mention that, even if cited, many people may not even understand that affiliate relationships include the possibility of remuneration (so explaining that, in the video / description text, would be even clearer). @@royohanian9103 All due respect to Lon, there is a reason why scientific experiments are done 'double blind'. for example, in the light wave vs particle test, what the tester preferred affects the outcome of the experiment. In other words, there is a good deal of subjectivity in these reviews. keyboard travel does not have a quantitative standard

They remember the articles about the 1st 3 years of Chromebooks and keep the belief that they have not evolved. I got into a debate with another content provider who even admitted his ''experience'' with Chromebooks was playing with the display model at Best Buy, but he still posted videos based on pure ignorance, as facts.
