Finally made it to the museum yesterday. What an amazing place! I can’t wait to go back! Impossible to appreciate it all in only one visit. As a bonus, I got to meet Matt and shake his hand. Really great guy! A wonderful experience. I never knew his dad but undoubtedly he’s very proud. His legacy is definitely being properly honored. Great place, full of great history run by great people. If any of you viewers ever get anywhere near NC, make sure you get to the museum. You won’t be disappointed!

Boy, what blast from my past that was. At 15 years old in 1961, my dad, an old Harley guy from the 1930's decided we needed a father/son project so off we went to Russ Winters Harley Davidson on Queen St. in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where we bought an ex-Toronto Metro Police unit, a 1951 Pan Head Hydra Glide with the hand shift and rocker clutch. It's tank and fenders were still painted in a cream colour with wheel spokes painted black. Russ filled bushel baskets with odds and sods he thought we'd need to put it all together and Dad and I worked all through the winter of 61 getting it back to running condition. I rode that thing until I joined the RCN and it never let me down but - as is shown in your video clip of it sitting for just the ten minutes it took you to mount those bags - it always marked it's spot wherever it was parked with chaincase drippings. Loved that old bike and desperately wished I'd kept it, even if all I did with it was to push it under the hay in the barn out back. It's be great to now at the age of 76 haul that old girl out and dangle it in front of one of the neighbour families as a potential 'nuther gen. father/son project. You guys are living the life.

Visited again Monday. As always, just a wonderful experience. Thanks so much to Matt and all the staff @ WTT . I would really like to hear the story of the two K- Model Sportsters with the (Red and White) molded cut out gas tanks .One tank appears larger than the other and both would appear to be greater capacity than the normal flat track race tanks . These are two of my favorite bikes in the Museum and the larger tank one is indeed my absolute favorite. Would love to know their origins, where and how they were raced and by who??

Skidmores leather creme would restore those old bags. It'll also protect the new bags. Old leather lasts longer because different chemicals were used during the tanning process. I still wear a USMC black belt my dad wore during WWII. I still wear the leathers I got 40 yrs. ago.

Heck ya On my EVO Softail or any bike I've always worked out of my saddlebags I've always had to have saddlebags somehow someway cuz I can't stick all my tools in my job in my pocket LOL every once in a while it's nice to take the sound bags off I guess to make sure everything's still back there. But I have found them useful for the last 40 years

Sure looks real pretty with those bags on there - need to get some better stuffing inside them to get the shape back a bit better and help preserve them, left bag looks better shape than right side, but then I've seen them with the top straps left undone and they get a shape more like the right side.
