She is an adorable old lady. Elderly people really want to just talk to someone as they get really lonely. This breaks my heart because i have grandmas and grandpas that i cannot spend a lot of time with. They are always happy whenever they get to talk to their family or just anyone in general

Yes. Although she has dementia but i think her positive personality is the most important factor it was never robbed from here even with her conditions. I believe a person's character plays a lot of importance in the face of an illness. There are dementia patients who are not as easy to look after and complying as her. Some will throw tantrums the whole day through and will need a caregiver 24 hours looking after them.

When I was working as a nursing assistant at a nursing home. You start to get to know them and what happened in their life. They just want someone to talk to to love them for them. I remember this lady that started calling me her granddaughter because I was the only one that took the time to get to know her. After I left I would still take the time to visit her twice a week and bring her things she needed. I miss you Robin 😢💔

She struggled n worked hard in the earlier history of Singapore's nation building , sacrifice much for her nation, may be it is time Singapore should make her later living a bit easier , nothing wrong for government to provide some safety net to these senior citizens once they retired and financial assistance with their big national financial reserve.

the gov does the bare minimum. social welfare is hard to come by around here. a few hundred dollars isn't going to provide anybody with even the bare necessities. if you go to food courts/ public toilets, you'll see a ton of old folks struggling through menial and low paid jobs. not to 'stay active' or because they enjoy it. because they need to eat. it's time sg as a self declared 'first world country' (nah fam we ain't) followed the example of other actually socially progressive countries.

Breaks my heart. In the Philippines, children takes great care of their parents. I don't know how to explain it, but its in our bloods. We highly respect our elderly. I highly missed my grandmother who had a stroke when I was 11. We had taken great care of her until her death in age 83, just when I turned 14. Kudos to the Singaporean Social Services. The world should learn more from you.

This lady reminds me of my late grandma.. I called her Oma.. My Oma lived together with my late uncle just few blocks away from my house. I visited her only to bring lunch sometimes, but I didn't enter her house and didn't spend much to chat and accompany her. This lady on the video, have the same cheerfulness and voice tone with my late grandma everytime she saw me. But now everything is only in the past, I have missed the oportunity to chat and cherish her, and I regret that. Hopefully everyone who still have grandparents and elders can cherish everymoment you can share with them... because the time is actually running out...

I think social service can arrange daytrips to Singapore zoo, bird park, local tourists spots, some diy crafts sessions, old movies screening, go sentosa, etc. If there is no funding, please a funding channel for supports, I am very sure many pple will be excited to help out and show their supports for the campaign. Always stay home is not that good as it gets boring prolonged.

Would you please consider at least sharing this gofundme for my grandma? www.gofundme.com/1sjmha8gao She too was hard working, and a hero to my family, as she supported all of us until she became poor and stuck in a city she hates with raising space rent, and only 1,200 from social security to live on. I work a min wage job and help out, and am going to school to do better, but I wont be able to do more than keep her here in the city she hates for at least several years. At 79, I don't know if she can wait that long... She cries, because Petaluma is the only place she calls home, and ever since I was born, she said she wanted to go back, but as she ages, she looses hope, and cries and is depressed over it because she thinks there is no hope and she will die here without ever going back home... Please at least share, as that can do alot, and if you even gave 5 dollars, it would be appreciated more than you will ever know!

Everytime watching those elderlies makes me really sad. Loneliness is really a suffering for them. If you still have parents, please love them and take care of them respectfully. There are limited amount of resources to help the slightly disabled and elderly globally. Why not pool resources for a telephone service where trained vetted volunteers/trusted outsourced workers from developing countries (since corporates and businesses trust outsourced workers) can call the elderly to chat with them for 10 mins for emotional support and also check in on their well being? Naturally, there is the consideration of crimes against the elderly and disabled to steal money from their bank accounts, but if the corporates outsourced customer service solicit our financial and personal information with no legal issues. Thus it will not be a legal issue to apply similar programs to help the unfortunates? Please feedback to management.
