I came to believe that this new Red would come with a UDH system... But I believe that Sram will leave it to the next generation. Beautiful group!
@bebopman511 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think they're waiting on the next rollout of flagship road bikes from the top companies to have UDHs. Once that occurs, then, as you said, Sram road transmissions won't be too far behind. Honestly, it may just be a new rear derailleur rollout when that happens, and they'll update the other groups (maybe minus Apex) to match the shape and ergo of this new Red. I'm excited.
@diehardbikes11 ай бұрын
If they did that it wouldn't be compatible with the vast majority of road frames. What they did with Transmission with mountain bikes is they slowly got the majority of them to use UDH or a similar product so that they could use a new road rear derailleur.
@BrianMcDonald11 ай бұрын
I was hoping for a UDH direct mount derailleur but the adoption rate is just not there on the road side it seems :(
@MtKrybnik1311 ай бұрын
@@bebopman5 they might just make two versions of it, cause adaptation od UDH is really low in road bikes. SRAM builds in shifting latency intentionally if you have a FD paired to the RD because it needs to decide if you're shifting one lever or both. The solution, obviously, is to man up and stop running a FD #1Xgang

Aint a sram fan at all as you can see, but i accept if a groupset has good points. As a mechanic i could easily find for any axs road components a negative point which is just simply annoying af and people dont deserve that quality for their money. Anyway, thanks for the vid and lets see what sram brings out.
@diehardbikes11 ай бұрын
And Shimano or Campagnolo don't have negatives? Try this: if your derailleur batteries die on you on a ride because you forgot to charge them, you can't swap out for a spare battery you brought with you. And as someone who rides long distances with no backup- at all- nobody can get me if something happens, I often don't have cell service, often in the middle of nowhere, I HAVE to get home, there is NO other option- I can tell you Sram AXS is my best choice. Pro mechanic or not: I'm not anti any brand unless it's a brand that is flat out dangerous, but hearing people say that really irks me. It has less to do with what brands I like and more to do with what has let me down the least. It also is important to say: what might be right for you might not be right for other people. Personally I love Fox droppers. However I dislike the SL posts. Someone else might be better off with a PNW post. That's cool, as long as the saddle clamp isn't gonna break off and that rod go up your ass, you know? If you like Shimano, cool, go with it. Just don't ride thier cranks. They just might separate. And then they will brush you and over 4,000 other people off. And then proceed to only accept obvious flaws in thier fake recall to make everyone feel better after 11 years of putting customers in danger. They aren't safe. Get my point? And don't even get me started on thier mechanical shifters...... every brand, Sram included, has thier faults. Some are just worse than others. For me, Shimano is a no go.

Yesterday I said goodbye to my 2009 LOOK Origin 566 frameset because of a crack in the chainstay. The 10 speed SRAM Red group is still working flawlessly. As soon as my 2011 Trek Madone 6.9 with 10 speed Red dies, I’ll get something new and it’ll have the Red group. And, yes Grant, you’re a great looking guy, but I’m happily married 😂

Yep, they absolutely need to reduce their ergonomics and reliability so they don't make ShItmano look too bad.. 😄
