Blade was a fun show, but Mutant X....man I loved that one ( though I hated that Emma was killed off ). Mutant X, Andromeda, VIP and Viper were my Saturdays for years, I miss those shows :/ also, in addition to that Generation X TV movie ( which btw, I enjoyed for how cheesy it was...Matt Frewer was a riot ) they did a really bad Nick Fury TV movie starring the Hoff as the titular SHIELD agent/director. and another fun fact : Supaidaman actually appears in a massive Tokusatsu team-up movie alongside multiple Super Sentai, Kamen Rider & Metal Heroes characters...I forget which one, but look up Super Hero Taisen.

I love when they say "instead of using heavy hitters like Thor, Captain America and Iron Man" like they've always been household names or something. Before 2008, Iron Man was a b-Tier character among people who actually read comics. Anyone who didn't read the books would never be able to name Thor if you showed them a picture, and most would guess Captain America from the suit alone as the NAME was more known in pop culture than the character. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people have forgotten a time when the vast, vast majority of the general population didn't know ANY of these characters from a hole in the ground. Also, Blade: The Series might have started off with some perceptual adjustment issues, but damn that show was fantastic by the end of the season. Shame it never continued past that cliffhanger. And again, this was a small network doing a legit superhero TV show - might not seem like a big deal now, but in 2006 that show was original AF.

Ryan Stewart Marvel brought Malibu comics in the 94. So in away it counts cause it came out the same year the Marvel and Malibu was doing crossovers in the comics.

I have to say, the main villain in the Generation X tvm was a stand out character. The actor played him as a cross between Arcade and Mojo. Two wins in my book. Plus the Blade TV series, fricking excellent. I loved every minute of that show

Who cares about the production quality, they had some good stories. CGI wasn't the best back then, so this was the best networks could do, and I think they did great considering the time.

Mutant X is a 1000 times better than the new X-men movies ever were, simply because it doesn't have Sophie Turner in it. I think Mutant X is so unknown, because its made in Canada and not America. the sad part abut it is that I love the show, I've rewatched it at least 5 times and it ends on a cliffhanger, so the problem at hand never gets resolved.

I have Automan on DVD. For a show made in the 1980's, it actually stands up quite well in terms of writing and acting, and even the special effects aren't too bad. I've seen worse in some recent big Hollywood blockbusters.

Of all the shows on this list, Generation X (tv movie), Night Man and Mutant X are the ones I enjoyed the most back in the day. I still watch them on either television or DVD...Blade The Series had its moments, but it missed the 'spark' the movies had.

I remember once reading that the problem with Blade was that it attracted a significant number of female viewers, which wasn't Spike's target demographic. They weren't interested in a show that attracted viewers their advertisers weren't interested in.

I actually have Mutant X on DVD. I pop it on from time to time. Also remember staying home to watch Generation X when my family was going out for the night because they were only going to air it once and that was it. We had a lot of strange shows early on but you had to start there to get to where we are now. Also pre x-men animated series there is one x-men movie cartoon I love called Pryde Of The X-Men and I wish I could have gotten more installments of that!

Mutant X was the shit! Still comes on an obscure channel called H and I (Heroes and Icons). Also I loved Generation X, one of the first times I got to see my Marvel favs in live action format, even though Synch and Chamber were missing. The Xmen cartoon from the 90s is still the best thing ever to be put on tv, period.

I think I still have a VHS recording of Generation X in a box somewhere (I loved it because it was so awful); I remember the Silver Surfer toon with great fondness (weird is my jam!); I have the DVD set of Blade: The Series somewhere (it was much better than its budget should have allowed); Nightman was low rent fun (if it ever comes out on home media, I'll grab it so it can sit on the shelf with my Automan and Manimal DVDs), and Mutant X had Victoria Pratt (so there's that...).

Don't waste your time it came out around the same time as David Hassalhoff as Nick Fury! The acting was horrid and the story a mess they kill great character's in a very bad tv show.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. Believe it or not I still have a copy of it ...on VHS tape. Yeah, laugh all you want, but it was the 90's, how else was I supposed to record the tv movie and save it for later? Laser disc? Ha,ha.

It is worth seeing. It is not as horrible as they claim. It was a pilot, it was limited in its budget, it was hindered by when it aired, and it had to limit the use of more dramatic powers and replace characters who would require more work. Jubilee, Skin, M, Emma Frost were translated near perfectly, Banshee looks more like Black Tom Cassidy but his powers and personality were spot on, Mondo was altered to be more Absorbing Man in powers and his personality and look are far from the character in the comic, and Husk and Chamber were replaced with Buff (A gorgeous girl with super muscles who hides them under baggy clothing, but looked great in the classic Comic Accurate Generation X Uniform, we only really see the actual mega musculature onscreen once or twice, played by an American Gladiator's muscles) and Refrax (A guy with super eyes, laser beam projection, penetration vision, telescopic vision, microscopic vision, UV Vision, IR Vision, etc. Most of which was narrated, though we get to see a little visible onscreen usage), there were plans to have Penance appear if the serirs got picked up, but other than some behind the scenes test images, Penance was also absent. Matt Frewer's performance was his usual grandiose over the top level, and who knows what could have bern done with more than a pilot.

I think you missed "The Amazing Spider-Man" from 1977 -- it lasted 2 seasons, and it was the first live-action spider-man. It was fun, but low-budget and kind of cheesy in many ways.

I remember when Marvel tried to spin off Thor and Daredevil from their Incredible Hulk series. Can you taste the cheese? It sits right next to the Reb Brown Captain America movies and the Nicholas Hammond The Amazing Spider-Man series. And let us not forget that Doctor Strange was given a pilot, too. Ah, the 1970s and 1980s would have has a lovely Marvel Universe. Spider-Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Daredevil... and ending with David Hasselhof's Nick Fury to bring them all together as the Avengers.
