This may be a bit of a stretch, but I believe that the name approval system is run on three things: A team member with a changing shift, a bot, and a blacklist. Names first are scanned via a bot to check if they're on a blacklist or not. If not, a staff member will review them. If he or she rejects it, the name is put onto a blacklist for a certain period of time, being the remaining amount of time the staff member that rejected the name is on shift. If the name is submitted again before a new member is put on duty, the bot will scan it, recognize it from the blacklist, and reject it immediately. Names can be rejected in, from my experience, about 11 minutes this way, and eventually approved after several rejections. The only time constantly-rejected names are approved is if either said time period is over or a complaint email is sent and a team member finds the name fine, in which case the name will be put on a whitelist and approved by the bot. The bot could also potentially be machine-learning, though this regurgitates another theory entirely, and the TTR team is probably too cheap for that, anyway. I'm trying to get the name " Rhajat ", after the character from Fire Emblem Fates, a T-rated game, approved, yet it keeps constantly getting rejected. Very quickly, as well. The issue with this is I have tribute Toons with names characters of characters from the _exact same game_ that have been approved without hassle, and Ricken from the previous game, also T-rated, has been approved with no issue whatsoever. It's possible the team runs a Google search of the name if they don't recognize it or it sounds strange, and they base approval off that, and the tribute, and, therefore, potentially-rejectable reasons, are hidden away by more popular search results. For example, the name " Ricken " is the last name of a famous German soccer player and is also a town in Switzerland. However, Fire Emblem's Ricken is the first thing that comes up when you search " Ricken " ( flat-up; not including " Fire Emblem " in the search or anything ), so, if this _is_ their method, that raises more questions. I've also had the name " Tharja " approved no issues whatsoever, and Rhajat is literally just a copy/paste of her character and the name's characters switched around. Tharja is a much more violent character than Rhajat, so you'd think Tharja would be rejected over Rhajat. Maybe TTR just has something against bisexuals -( Except, y'know, " Pride Month " isn't censored for some reason )- . I've also had the name " Komasan ", from Yo-kai Watch, rejected, and when I asked about it, they said it was because the TV show referenced alcohol, innuendos, and violence, despite the fact that I've had " Jibanyan ", " Chilhuahua ", and " Frostina " approved ( the last with no rejection _at all_ whatsoever ), so it's possible they just know Fire Emblem Fates characters and no others asides for the ones references in Smash Bros ( which also get approved easily; I've seen _tons_ of Toons named Lucina ), and the particular on-duty staff members didn't recognize the Yo-kai names unlike the other ( though Chilhuahua might've been rejected because they though I misspelled " Chihuahua " ). It's ALSO entirely possible that names are rejected via bias against certain characters or names, though that seems to be pretty unlikely. The issue with rejecting names with these properties, though, is the fact that I've seen Toons names " Murduck ", " Vendetta ", " Unloved ", and " Eternal Darkness ", and several other questionable names which you'd think would get rejected. Seems that the team approves all pun and edgy names for whatever reason ( probably because a heavy amount of the active players want names like this and they don't want to lose said players ), even though Rhajat is a much edgier character than Ricken could ever be.... The issue I have with the whole " family-friendly " schordeal is that the game is primarily teenagers and young adults who probably haven't ever touched a Fire Emblem game in their entire life and watch porn on a regular basis ( because, again, teenagers and young adults ). Why do references to T rated games get rejected when they're simply character names and nothing suggestive or violent ( whether the character is or not shouldn't matter )? Why did " Komasan " get rejected due to the show when the GAME is completely fine ( minus like two or three moments, but Pokémon names are famously approvable and yet those games are filled with inappropriate jokes, too ) and the inappropriate jokes aren't intended to be understood by a younger audience? Why is the TTR team pandering to fans THAT ALLEGEDLY OR FLAT UP DON'T EXIST? They seem to think that every player is either a 6-13 year-old, a 26-year-old with nothing better to do than to talk about smoking pot on a family game, or a pedophile. They're at KZbin levels of unaware of their core audience. TL;DR: The team probably uses a bot to approve names and uses whatever little knowledge they have to verify them. They also have a very unclear and inconsistent rejection method. Also, this is unrelated, but the TTR team suggests that every member of your family makes an account instead of everyone making their own Toon on one account so you " can all play together ". How much do you wanna bet they suggest this just to get higher numbers of registered accounts to parade around and wave at the other servers?

The naming system is quite strange. Regardless of how inappropriate or normal the name is, to a certain extent obviously, most of my submitted names are rejected multiple times, only to accepted on the fifth or sixth try. I'm guessing the system is manual, so I understand that the same people aren't reading my names each time, but I find it strange that one name can be rejected five times, by most likely different people, and to be accepted on the sixth attempt. That tells me that those in charge of accepting and rejecting names don't have clear enough guidelines to follow. That's just my guess. Of course, it could have been the same person each time and a different person on the attempt that was approved. This has happened with multiple different Toons as well, so it's not an isolated incident with one name.

Yes. This has been my experience and guess as well. After my last rejection though I wrote and asked why. Not only was I not given a reason but when I tried to name her again after that, it was IMMEDIATELY rejected, not 5 minutes wait. Which is what led me to believe ok now it's obviously personal and being rejected by ONE person and THEIR opinion of the name. I would have preferred my first choice of a rabbit named "Buns 'N Roses" but am happy with the name they did finally accept, "Force of Rabbit". (And please don't tell me it's because it references the word "Guns" and that is good reason to reject it) when in the game we literally have guns as one of our gags. Tyvm.

Turns out that wasn't the problem anyway, my toons name was rejected because some of the songs the band my toons name closely resembled, had some "foul language". And "just isn't family friendly." And I did counter. Really they just took it too far and even said themselves that the foul language is not their more popular songs. So. Too far in my opinion. I told them, "thank goodness youre protecting families from a band theyve all heard of from lyrics none of them could think of." So my band is not ok but Toons named Angel of Darkess, Bunilla Ice, Bears of War, and Air 'Osmith are just fine.

Puzzle Puppet No problem. It was frustrating and all of tbeir answers just made it worse. I wish tbey would have just admitted the guidelines aren't clear and tberefor yes, personal opinions are used. In a later email from them they admitted it went to a group discussion, so basically after one persons opinion rejected it, it was put up for group opinions to ultimately reject. I think it ultimately was just rejected because they didn't like my attitude or having called them out on their own unfairness and after talking to many other palyers with name rejections I believe ttr name policy is unfair fkr everyone and not protecting anyone.

Here's some I tried: Goldenyan = Unacceptable/Goldnyan = Acceptable Veemon = Unacceptable/V-Mon = Acceptable My friend Hanako Inc. also tried submitting Trooper and Kyubie in, both of which kept constantly getting rejected. Vendetta was fine, though, even though it more or less means revenge murder. TTR logic: Trooper isn't allowed to get past the name rating system. I guess it's " violent " or something about Toon Troopers, maybe. A word that means murder for vengeance is totally fine, though. ( Edit was to fix spacing problems since mobile's an ass )

I had tried to get the name "ghiaccio" (after the villain from jjba) approved and the first time it was rejected within two days. At first, I had thought this was a human rejection, because well, the character is a pretty horrible person. But, I had decided to do it again and it was approved within a day. The only difference within these two subissmison was the time of day, the first being the afternoon and the next being near midnight. My guess is that the bot handles things when, as the joke goes, the mods are asleep.

I didn't have this exact issue, but something similar enough... I submitted the name for my toon, Evil Yeti, in summer 2014. It was accepted. 2 years later, after I had worked her to around 120 laff, I'm waiting outside for a CEO and my name suddenly gets revoked. I was stuck with "Black Cat" for a week or two after having the name Evil Yeti for 2 years. 2 years. Honestly if I hadn't made a big stink about it on toontown alley forums I doubt I'd have ever gotten the name back. It's ridiculous that after having a name that long they would just revoke it out of the blue.

I've had toons names rejected that I emailed support about and had them argue with me about accepting them, none of them were bad names, one was in Portuguese, one was referencing zelda and one was a flower but bc they didn't know b4 I told them they would not accept it even though they were perfectly fine. I think to avoid this they should have an approved names list, when a name is accepted it gets added to that list and automatically approved next time it's submitted so they don't need to look at each one and would have more time to look into the names.

In ToonTown Corporate Clash, the character I use most was gonna be named Ghost, but it was rejected. So I just named him Cricket and honestly, I love that name more. Still have no clue why Ghost was rejected.

Loopygoopyg, if you look at 90% of the made up names, they are all puns. Even if they are terrible, if they are puns, it's ok! That's most likely why Anita Tuba Oinkment was accepted. I guess puns are a toony thing and rewritten Team likes that people are being clever and toony!

Zackattack, my main, was approved literally within an hour. At most one of my secondaries took a few days. I saw "Gregory Mouse" an obvious pun of the show House on a wall in a building in DDL.

So far, all 5 of my toon names went through without a hitch. Mind ova M'Atta, D'Atta Points, Chomping Atta Bit, Drake Featherwing, and Drake Softpaw (My main toon). (And yes, I'm an ATTA member, hence why I've got so many names with "atta" in some form or other in it.

I submitted the name 'The Peach Mode' and it took over 2 weeks to where I got fed up with waiting and I emailed them myself and they went ahead and approved my name within like 5 minutes of sending the email. So if ya'll can't wait like me just try email. (I also made the subject "TOON NAME")

@@Male_Parent But the name that got rejected had nothing to do with cogs, i think your looking at the person name instead of what they actually tried to name the duck. The persons username may be the name of a Cog but they didnt try to name the toon after their username, they tried to name their duck "Duck of hazards" not "Name Dropper". I dont really see whats wrong with the name "Duck of hazards" to make TTR reject such name. I dont think it violated any rules.

On TTO my yoons name was Loopy Slappy Crunchybubble, I got it from their name generator. BUT on TTR there was no "slappy" on the generator so I typed it out and submitted it and it was rejected! So I had changed it to "Snappy." If it was in TTO why not TTR?

Oh the naming system? Let me tell you how my current name came to be. When I first started playing TTR my toon name was Purple Nurple Durple. _Yeah it really was the name._ That name was accepted within the first week of playing, then once I got to Daisy's Garden, they rejected the name. Now this was back in 2015 so maybe this was when they were becoming more serious on the game and the naming system. I was upset that my name was rejected, so I was trying to think what was the "bad" part of the name, so I got rid of the "Nurple" part and changed the name to Miss Purple Durple, and that was accepted within the day. After looking at the name for a week or so, I thought it was really cute. Therefore every social media I use, the name would be Miss Purple Durple, even when I sign up for games the name would be Miss Purple Durple or Miss Purple if I can't fit the full name. That's the only "bad" experience I had, on the other hand when the deer came out for TTR, I named it Deer In Headlights because of that expression and that accepted within the first two hours of playing that toon.

My first toon was in the Disney TTO and made by the name generator, Pinky Pinkeroni. In TTR I can't generate her name to be that, nor can I type it in the game. So when I submitted the name and it was rejected, I assumed it's because I can't even type it in the game and thought perhaps that's one of their perimeters for acceptance but still, who's to say when so many of the names that are rejected and accepted don't make much sense OR follow their guidelines.

Yes, I know Mistress has some implications, but it is the female form of Master and a title that has been used for ages. I settled for Miss Lily in the default names instead.
