I wish I'd learned it earlier, as well. Or, given myself permission to stand up for myself and to expect more from people and from life. Sadly, I was conditioned, early on, even expected, to settle for whatever life threw me, and to be happy about it. So, that's what I did. The 'grin & bear it' mentality. I sure put up with a lot, for a long time, before I realized it was ok to expect respect. So glad she learned it earlier... So glad we learned it, if later in life. Everyone deserves respect. Must expect it!

Haha to answer a question: my boyfriend also got a sandwich at the end of this video, it just wasn’t in the clip lol 😂 We both ate well lol Thank you all for your wonderful letters, comments, and messages. I find it very difficult to reply to everyone, but know I read and appreciate it very much ❤️ Everyday I try to not let negative experiences stand in the way of making progress in my own life. After going through some very damaging and abusive relationships in my late teens, I seek to reach out to others who are potentially dealing with similar situations, presently or in the past. Your age, gender, race, spiritual/religious beliefs, diet, etc is never - and will never - be a valid reason for someone to treat you with anything less than respect. I believe people who have ill intentions towards others are often very hurt themselves. They have forgotten, or have never been taught, to properly love other humans. Sometimes they come to a point where they wish to heal their hearts and seek help, and sometimes they don’t. But that is their burden to bear, not ours.

My problem is the OPPOSITE ;) People complained through my growing up years that my being ADHD was a pain--I was loud and like can't even hold a conversation--like even now LOL. So your so called 'nervousness' I see as STRENGTH I would not even call it nervousness but a quiet peace and calm. The only person(s) who related to me were professors and my advisor. Even today (as you can tell from my repsonses) is slip shot to the point. BUT I am who I am --as for relationships I can't even hold them down not because of them but me LOL --think I do better with dogs in any event you rock ok? As for my ADHD as my graduate advisor says, HEY you are gifted bright who cares what they think go change the world with your intellect later keep rocking

You can easily google the definition of an empath: The term empath comes from empathy, which is the ability to understand the experiences and feelings of others outside of your own perspective. As an empath, you take things a step further. You actually sense and feel emotions as if they’re part of your own experience. In other words, someone else’s pain and happiness become your pain and happiness. Simple.

I've only started to finally see this pattern so clearly well into my late 30s. In my early 40s now, I had to build a cautious backbone and I too still can't believe people would just be unkind and take advantage of kind souls. I will probably never understand it.

These were my thoughts some time ago when I was alone with myself thinking about life: Life… Life is about sadness, learning from it and how to cope with it. Life is about joy and happiness, learning from it and share it. Life is about emotions, learning from it and deal with it. Life is about making mistakes, learning from it and move on with better knowledge. Life is about making decisions, learning from it and becoming better at it. Life is about caring for others, learning from it and being a better human being. Life is about ups and downs, learning from it, adapt and overcome. Life is about believing in yourself, learning from it and evolve. Life is about taking a moment to contemplate your life, why you live, how you live and how you can improve it… Enjoy your life while you can…, preferably with someone you love.

You are a kind, gentle, and genuine spirit, and when we are not fitting the mold the world wants us to be, we need to protect the light others might try to put out. May peace and strength both lead you and follow you. Thank you for sharing. 🤗

Seriously, this was such a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing your story! Young girls need to know that they deserve nothing but the utmost respect in any relationship, and anyone violating their beliefs or boundaries in any way doesn't need to be apart of their journey.

Thank you for sharing all these parts of your life with us. I work at a residential treatment facility for children facing crisis. Some days can be very difficult, emotionally and physically. Your voice, the music, the nature, and your demeanor make for a very peaceful and tranquil moment in an otherwise chaotic brain. Thank you.

This gave me so much hope. I just left an abusive relationship and feel like I don't ever want to brave the world of dating because of the existence of those toxic personalities. So thank you for saying that the possibility for genuine human connection is enough to try. You're so right.

As someone who comes from a broken family it's lovely to see someone doing well with the love and support of her family and significant other. I dream of someday being able to live somewhere surrounded by nature where I can go at my own pace. As an artist also struggling to gain confidence in myself again after so much trauma, your words are a balm to my heart. Thank you and be well

I now stop and greet my reflection instead of looking past the girl in the mirror. All she ever wanted was her own love. I have struggled with self worth in my life and my quiet alone time makes me feel safe, centered and loved. I love creating art and poetry. I connect with myself when creating. I have learned to be more assertive and confident at my young age of 63. Still growing and learning as every day unfolds. I overcame 20 years of bulimia and I am so proud to be the person I have become. Never would I have gained strength and built character if not for my challenges in life. Thank you, Paola, for sharing your life. Your experiences help me feel that I am not alone. I look forward to your beautiful self in all your videos.

You have been my source of hope and sanity lately. Living with C-PTSD and depression, going through hard times in my personal life and being countries apart from my boyfriend have been extremely hard to keep myself positive and confident, but whenever I need some inspiration and be away from my intrusive catastrophizing thoughts, your videos help me so much! Thank you from my heart for sharing your content in such a special and honest way! ❤️

“To not agree with things just to be agreeable”. This has been my biggest struggle/self learning in relationships. I always try to keep the peace. but I have learned the hard way that it is usually to my own detriment. I’ve learned that keeping the immediate peace by truncating yourself leads to bigger problems down the road. I’m in the middle of one of those now much bigger struggles. Working on voicing my truths and holding my boundaries. Thank you for sharing this. I felt the hopefulness of your story. I am glad you have someone now who is gentle and kind.

Your comment truly resonates with my own situation. I also tried to keep the peace, while the other person used this to his own advantage and as with you, led to bigger problems in the end. Standing up for yourself and setting boundaries, within reason, is more important than keeping quiet.

Unshakeable foundation of love, respect, and TRUST. We have to trust that our friend or companion knows we have their best interest at heart and that we wholeheartedly believe in them. Or else it gets exhausting trying to convince them otherwise and as you well said, makes us second guess what we're trying to do. You approached this subject with a gentle and wise heart. 🙏

We would say you dodged a bullet. I'm so glad you had the insight and wisdom to say no to an unhealthy relationship that wouldn't value and support the person you and and want to become. May God show you a better way, and a better person in the future.
@dod23042 жыл бұрын
I've learned to expect people, especially someone I'm romantically involved with, to "put their money where their mouth is". Meaning, All those nice words and apologies and promises to do better don't mean anything if they don't change. If everything still stays the same. And, think of this... your fiance was probably on his BEST behavior while you two were engaged! Imagine how bad it might have gotten after you were married!. Even if we realize a relationship isn't and will never give us what we want and need, it still hurts to end it. We mourn for the dreams we had for the future. Then we're grateful we realized the truth before it was too late. I think you needed to end that engagement because there is someone so much more wonderful and caring and kind waiting for you. I'm praying for that for you! Love and Light.

As a first time viewer of your KZbin content, please allow me to say that it is apparent to me that you have "figured out" some truths about life and about yourself which took me decades to sort out. You are way ahead in the game by that measure, young lady, and you have acquired wisdom already which takes some of us decades to acquire and sadly, some never acquire. You are serene, positive presence on KZbin.
@dod23042 жыл бұрын
I said the same thing and I see others have as well. So, I think several people making this comment really underlines the truth that many of us take YEARS to figure this out. Sadly, some never do. There are some people who are addicted to drama and victimhood. It makes me sad for them because they could be SO much happier. But, trauma can do that to a person. Paola says it took her 7 years to heal. But, she had the realization at a young age and clearly committed to her healing and not stopping until she was there. I think she underplays that a bit. Maybe not wanting her videos to be, as she said, too serious or sad. But, I think it's important for those young ones who are struggling to realize that healing doesn't happen in an instant. You must be committed to yourself! Love and Light ~D

It's very inspiring to know that you have created your world through the help of your own inspiration. And not looking at the possible set back issues. You inspired me greatly as an elderly who wants to achieve the same direction. though critism doesn't bother me at all because I myself ignore them, all I know i need to pursue what my heart desires the most and learn everything from there. And your talent inspired me to do my art better rather than yielding.
