When I first watch this show, the ending really bothered me. I was one of the typical "But what's the light?! How does the smoke monster work?! These writers didn't answer anything!" viewers. I have since come to consider it my favorite show with a perfectly satisfying ending. The only thing that still itches at me is Walt's specialness. It was such a big plot point, and brought up multiple times. It seemed like a lot was getting set up there and just got dropped. But with the love I have for the rest of the series, that's not big deal. Worth watching and rewatching.

If by 'one of the typical' you mean 'people who watched a show and saw the many, many dropped threads, inconsistent explanations etc' then it sounds like you were using your faculties appropiately. The big problem with a 'mystery box' show is that, at some point, it does need to resolve the mystery. Lost repeatedly started off another 'ooh, I wonder what this is about' without any resolution.

Thank you to Eric and Rick for a wonderful reaction series and a great reason to rewatch one of my favorite TV shows. LOST means a lot to me personally, I used to spend a lot of time stuck in the past and wishing I could've done things differently. Wait, this isn't the End. You still have the Epilogue to watch. And all the bonus stuff like the bloopers and How It Should Have Ended for that great original Lapdis song. Overall, Lost is my favourite show. To this day it still makes me cry when I hear the sad music or watch certain scenes. I loved the ending the first time I watched it and I still do. Its what I hoped for after all the misery and pain the characters went through. And for me that's whats important about the show. The characters. In the end the characters and their journeys felt consistent unlike say well...Game of Thrones sadly. Thart was a Ending, and not even a ending, for me that was a show that started going downhill since Season 5 and it recovered somewhat at the end of Season 6 only to crash with Season 7 and then 8. For me that was a show that became pointless from beginning to end but Lost just felt...magical. It felt different each season. It was engaging and like I said...consistent. Alot of stories fail to keep consistent with its characters and world. Yes there are flaws but not as big as other stories that failed. So many years later and I still think fondly of this show and always will.

So, this is where I once again suggest giving Leftovers a shot as a follow up to this (regardless of whether you guys would end up doing reactions to it honestly), as I believe Damon Lindelof took damn near every lesson from writing Lost and applied them very well across the 3 season run of Leftovers. I agree with Eric, the characters are what makes this show amazing. When I first started watching, I HATED Sawyer and was worried that he'd be a token antagonist who would die early on, but over time, through character devlopment, flashbacks, flashforwards, flashsideways, he is absolutely able to change for the better. James and Juliette is one of the best relationships in the whole show, which I never would have seen coming from the first season. They put a lot of care into their characters

It has been a long time coming, and I'm a bit late to the party, but I've finally made it to the end! What a ride this show has been. When I was a kid (probably 10 years old) I'd catch episodes of Lost on late night TV, but I never kept up with it. Recently Netflix added Lost to their library, so I finally jumped in and have been watching your guys' reactions in tandem. What a show, man! What. A. Show. So glad I've finally come back to the series nearly 20 years later, and I'm grateful I had these reactions to watch along-side! Now that I've watched Lost (and watched your reactions to it), I'd really like to see your reactions to The Leftovers (also by Damon Lindelof). It was the first bit of media I saw on Damon's and it absolutely flawed me by the end. It's up there with Mr. Robot and The Expanse as one of my favourite shows of all-time! I think I'll now rewatch your guys' reactions to HBO's Watchmen (another one written by Lindelof).

I've often thought how a sequel series would/could play out, and I came to the conclusion that it's very difficult and probably best left alone, but.... if there were to be something to kick it off it would have to centre around Ji Yeon's search for Sun and Jin - but even then you would assume that Hurley would have paid her a visit.

Maybe this has been mentioned already? But I wanted to point out the polar bears were also used as a means to turn the big underground wheel that "moves" the island. When Ben turned the wheel in Season 4, he was transported to a desert, off-island. Then, in another episode, we see Charlotte and an archaeological team excavating in that desert, and they find polar bear bones. I assume the bears were forced to do this because it'd be easy for them to withstand the cold conditions of that cave

I think if people were gonna fall off it was about mid way through when they started time travelling more than the ending. We also had an issue here in the UK where after about season 3, LOST moved from a "free for everyone" channel to a Sky TV channel which only some people had and was expensive you weren't gonna get Sky just to watch one show. There wasn't all easy streaming and things back then so a lot of people just couldn't watch it. I had to start going to a friend's house every week to watch it 😅
@Hawk_of_Battle Жыл бұрын
Yeah there's that, and I think the fact that the first 2 seasons are quite a bit slower paced and only keep posing new questions without really answering many, turned people off. So once it became less accessible it seemingly wasn't worth peoples time.
