Schenker's playing is poetic; he doesn't play notes he tells a story you can't exactly understand but you feel it and you are taken on a journey with him.

I've stood in time, wind and rain I have no feelings or name, But I can see, I can hear, The voice of death is shouting in my ear! Making war, making love You know what I'm thinking of How many times the traps are set, You can't remember, and I can't forget! Can you see me now, can you feel the pain, Can you heal the scars on me Life within my heart, hope within my soul, is dying! Bid farewell, the works of men When cries of anger sound again My tears of shame, cut like a knife, How can I justify this life! Can you see me now, can you feel the pain, Can you heal the scars on me Life within my heart, hope within my soul, is dying! My mind is searching for reasons why A time to live or die If we had now what we had then Lost horizons might return again... Can you see me now, can you feel the pain, Can you heal the scars on me Life within my heart, hope within my soul, is dying! Lost horizons...

The Michael Schenker Group really rocks that Classic Rock Heavy Metal Sound. I love it! The Vocals and Guitar riffs are so hot!! Perfect \m/ for making love to because those chords and riffs rock so hard that you just want to....Ohhh Yeahhh! This group was started in 1979 and still together! MSG is from London, England. Their current members are Lead Guitarist Michael Schenker, Lead Vocalist Gary Barden & Graham Bonnet & Robin McAuley, Keyboardist & Rhythm Guitarist Steve Mann, Bassist Chris Glen, and Drummer Ted McKenna. Schenker plays amazing guitar and I love the band’s sound. This song “Lost Horizons”(Side 2, Track #9) is originally from The Michael Schenker Group’s self titled album in 1980. The Band Members then were Guitarist Michael Schenker, Vocalist Gary Barden, Session Musicians: Keyboardist Don Aires, Bassist Mo Foster, and Drummer Simon Phillips. “Lost Horizons” is a rocking song and it has been rereleased on another album called The Michael Schenker Story Live in 1997(A 2 CD Disk). MSG Rocks and I love them! Everyone should give them a listen! Thanks! Rock on! 🤘🏻❤️🎸💋-Moderator-💋🎸❤️🤘🏻
@crusheverything44496 жыл бұрын
Susan Waddle - I share your love for Michael Schenker’s music, but you can hardly say MSG is “still together” considering the constantly changing line-up since their inception. They never made two studio records in a row with the same people. Michael Schenker Fest and Temple of Rock are not The Michael Schenker Group, even though they obviously play MSG material. I think that delineation is important and apparently, so does Michael.

With Randy and Gary gone, Michael is pretty much the last of the Guitarists from that early 80s Hard Rock scene to play Classically-influenced Rock guitar with a lot of Minor-Key, melodic playing. I'm sure there are players that still DO, but with the death of Independent-minded FM Radio in recent years, we have only to rely on word of mouth or stumbling upon them on the Internet, unfortunately.

Saxophonists have a way of placing their lips to get their own unique voice, called embouchure. I have to think there's something magical in the way Michael holds his pick and touches his guitar that gives him that distinctive, unmistakable tone. The same on Gibsons as on Deans. It's got to be in his touch. These people were blessed to see such a master in such good form. Didn't have to be that way; he could have been a bloated, washed up junkie and never been heard from again.

He does hold his pick more parallel to the string than most guys, gives a different attack, it's harder to play the way he does, without angling the pick as the pick can get hung up on the string, but it's the only to get that attack. He also plays leads with the wah pedal on most of the time.

Brake Drummer - Gary was never really all that strong in a live setting, in my opinion, but he was really great in the studio. Of course, he’s getting up there in age these days and there’s bound to be some drop-off in range and/or power in one’s 60s, except for a select few freaks of nature like Glenn Hughes, Paul Rodgers, Ann Wilson, Bruce Dickinson....
