I've never heard of Lupin flour. I looked it up and the nutritional value of it is amazing ! It turned out beautifully ! tfs 💗💗💗

So I tried the recipe from I don't sugar coat it and yours. This one has so much more flavor it's amazing. I made it completely in the bread machine so it didn't rise as large as yours but honestly you can't beat the convenience for about a .3 carb more per slice. I also used almond milk and that worked out great.

I've tried two consecutive years to sell my Cuisinart Bread Maker at the annual community garage sale. Such a blessing it didn't sell because last week I found you and this recipe. I cleaned everything up and baked yesterday ( I had to wait for my Amazon orders to come in). Real tasting and textured Bread!!!I First ever for my many, many Keto trials! I'm going to make more as soon as this is gone but will add some nuts and seeds. Have you done that? Thank you doesn't even sound adequate for the gratitude I feel. Bess you, Gayle!

I can't wait to do this recipe I have not bought lupine flower yet I saw this recipe once before and decided to pull it up again and put it in my library my husband's going to order all the things that I don't have one problem I don't have a bread machine anymore we got rid of it so I may invest in another one to do this red not real happy with the fathead bread thank you for this recipe!!

Good Morning Beverly I think you will really enjoy this bread! It is the best low carb bread so far, I love it. I want to mention, if you don't have cashew milk, you can use water in its place and it is still lovely. If you are looking for a bread maker, I would suggest you shop at a second hand store, you can get a great deal there. Good Luck and Enjoy!

I purchased lupin flour a long time ago but havent used it in anything thus far. I read some conflicting articles about whether it was considered keto or not. I know it is low carb. But eventually I'm sure I will use it and this recipe would be good trial for it. I'm also trying to figure out whether the gluten might bother me which I dont think it does. Only bad thing I sold my bread machine. I know though Deidras bread can be fixed in oven too. My bread machine always made crust too brown and hard no matter what setting i put it on.. I'm still watching your utube on it and looks like you are going to bake it in oven,,hooray!! I know it will be wonderful because all Gayles recipes are all fantastic. Her lemon pie and chocolate pie recipes are fantastic for those that haven't tried them. Thanks Gayle!!

Thank you Vicki for your kind words. I just like the bread machine to mix my bread dough and then put it in the oven. I find it so much easier then mixing myself. It might be worth while looking at the salvation army to see if you can find one cheap just to mix everything. You take care Vicki, stay healthy and safe.

Love this recipe! I've been making it for almost a year. BUT this last time, I ran a little bit short of my vital wheat gluten. I only had 187g so.... I added the difference with Butter powder and happy accident! It turned out a little lighter in weight and the outside was softer. I can't believe the difference. The Next time I lowered the vwg a tad more (185g) and the rest 7g with the Butter Powder. Even Better!

I have the same bread maker as you. Can I use the “dough” function to prepare for the second rise? Rather than waiting for it to stop. Not sure when that is.

Hi Bonnie I am not sure. But on my bread maker it will mix, then you will hear a bunch of beeps and that is to tell you to put in seeds etc if you would like. I ignore this step and let it continue to run until it STOPS AGAIN. At this point I take it out of the machine and prepare it for the loaf pan. If I leave it in the machine it will start to rise in the machine, I don't remember the length of time it rises and then it will do the second knead. I don't think the dough/pasta function is what you want. Just program basic bread and regular crust. I hope this helps! Stay Save and Healthy:)

I think it was me that mentioned it to you. I saw Samyah using lupin and triec it and loved it. (Used my other tablet and youtube name Big Bertha) I also put a sheet of foil on one of the racks and raise that rack to the highest spot, so that it minimizes the browning effect of lupin flour.

I saw lupin flour for sale at Nutter’s in Canada. I also purchased SAF yeast at Nutter’s. I found lupin flour in the Real Canadian Superstore in their natural foods aisle (if you have this store in your area - I know this store is part of the Loblaw’s store chain if that helps anyone)

Thanks, going to try this! Your loaf pan looked like it was 2 stacked pans. Is that a different design of some sort? Better for baking? Oh, also, I subscribed, thanks.

I was collecting the ingredients needed to make the OG Deidra's bread when I discovered gluten flour is another name for vital wheat gluten, and can be found at Bulk Barn. I don't know how the price compares to Bob's Red Mill, but it's definitely handy to be able to choose how much I get rather than a set bag size :) I'm pretty excited to try this recipe because the flax was the one thing I didn't like about the original.

If you didn't like the flaxseed meal you used, perhaps it's because it was the brown flaxseed meal. If you get *Golden Flaxseeds* (the whole seed in the golden) and you grind them yourself in a spice grinder, it will be so much better. You should sift the flaxseed meal after grinding in case and seed particles are left. The brown is more on the bitter side. The Golden Flaxseed is better and it's good for you for the good fat it provides.

Based on the comments I will be convinced that this bread is good and will give it a try. I wish more descriptive words could have been used to explain the texture and the taste and feel in comparison to at least one or two other forms of bread whether it be regular or another type of low carb bread etc. Nonetheless, thank you so much for sharing!

Good Morning Bora I don't think at this point we can make a low carb bread as perfect as a regular bed but we all keep trying. But this Lupin Flour Bread, in my opinion is the best Low Carb Bread I have experienced. The texture is hard to describe but I will try. The texture is slight rubbery and I mean very slight. I can't describe the flavor but I enjoy it compared to many low carb bread. The bread also toasts up well. I do think this bread is one you should give a try, I don't think you will regret it. Thanks so much for this video! Just ordered lupin flour but wondering why you didn’t just bake it in the bread machine? That’s what I’d like to do since only have a counter top oven; Diedre’s recipe does make the top of my machine open and I punch it down a bit and its still okay... I have an old vertical machine too.. thanks in advance for reply

I like baking it in the oven because it looks more like bread (shape) also I find the loaf in the machine make very large slices. It's just my preference. Either way it works:)

I have never used Anthony's or NuNaturals oat fiber. The groups I am in talk about using Lifesource brand. They say it is a much milder taste the Anthony's. You may want to compare that brand some day. I buy mine from Netrition.

Hello! This bread looks amazing. Can you please tell me what SAF yeast is? I have rapid rise and active dry and bread machine yeast...will any of these work?? Thanks so much.

Hi Sheron Here is a link for SAF yeast: shop.kingarthurflour.com/items/saf-red-instant-yeast-16-oz, so you can look at it. Your active dry yeast is good. I used to use fleischmann's active dry yeast which worked well. SAF Red Yeast has given me better results. I hope this helps!!

@@GayleMcLeod I'm sorry also for getting back with response. My Mother is 80 on Aug. 24th. A month ago they located a brain tumor my Mother has. She has a initial Neurologist appointment in August. Per her Physician its benign. I will know more hopefully after the initial appt. with Neurologist. She is a devote Christian. She still is independent and mobile in her own home. A very driven individual. I get tickled at her; she is only 4'8" and right at 100 pounds. But has the strength of a individual much taller and heavier. Thank goodness for her faith and driven personality. Love Tamson 😇💚Were doing fine through this Covid19 Pandemic so far. Trying to follow CDC Guidelines- Mask, Keep Social Distancing and Wash Wash Wash Hands. We stay at home as much as we can. And only go to get essentials when needed. We haven't eaten out since first of March too. Thank goodness for your wonderful excellent channel containing many beautiful meal ideas. love tamson 😇💚

Hi Rosa Lupins belong to the legume family and are a crop with bright yellow or white flowers harvested for the seeds or beans. They are naturally gluten free and one of the world's richest known sources of combined plant protein (around 40 per cent) and dietary fiber (around 30 per cent). I hope this helps!

Can the 200g of cashew milk be replaced with 200g of almond milk or 200g of half-diluted heavy whipping cream?

Hi Anne I have not tried almond milk, but I would guess it would work! I used cashew beverage because it was suggested by one of my subscribers! I would think they both would work. Someday I will try!!

Have you found substitute for Vital Wheat Gluten for Celiacs?

I found this on line but have not tried it! Use about ½ a teaspoon of xanthan gum for every cup of flour your recipe calls for or for every tablespoon of vital wheat gluten. If you're using vital wheat gluten as a source of protein, you can use protein powder instead. I hope this helps! I am confused with the question. Is this to bake in or you are using it to store the bread? My loaf pan I use is 9.25" x 5.25" x 2.75" deep. I hope this measurement helps! Merry Christmas

@@GayleMcLeod It's a pullman pan with a cover, so you get a sandwich bread like u could buy it in a store. I've got one for 450g of dough and one for 750g of dough. Do you think i can bake it in one of them? With cover

This is my problem, if you use a bread machine these tubers aren't tellling what size 1, 11/2, or 2 lb setting for the machine.

@@GayleMcLeod Sorry I was short. I just want to make some bread. It is a pound thing. I just took it out of the machine and put it in a pan. It didn't raise like yours. I am waiting for it to cool. I find the breads I make are spongy. I left out the X-gum as suggested we will see. Thanks

*just tried this for the 1st time as i bought lupin flour but havent had many recipes that use it... & ive been wanting to test its results in bread.* *ive been **_HOOKED_** on ThunderIronFamilyAdventures improved version of diedre's orig recipe. i go thru 2 loaves a week. love it.* *this? rose great, collapsed some in the center after baking.. then the entire center collapsed in 10 mins out of the oven. drats. thats beyond annoying.* *it **_is_** delicious & softer than my usual recipe so will give this one 1 more try.*

Hello Frankly Speaking I have been using SILK unsweetened Coconut Milk in place of Cashew Milk and I really like it in this recipe. I have had mine collapse as well but as of late I have been very successful on my bread not collapsing.. I find it is the best read so far. I hope you enjoy:)

@@GayleMcLeod hmm... i personally do not use any of the faux-milks out there. only heavy cream. i will give it another go & follow your tip to finish it off like a cheesecake... oven off, door open to cool. hoping that works... have a HUGE bag of lupin flour & not finding many good uses for it yet. thanks!

I find it rises nicer in a loaf pan and I get a larger loaf of bread in the low pain compared to the bread maker. I hope this helps.

Hi d w I put the bread in toaster and when I see a little smoke coming up I pop it up and turn it around and toast again and then manually pop it up. It is nice and golden brown, in seconds it goes crunchy and you can hear the sound of toast when you butter it. When you eat it, it is not crunchy like toast and has a bit of a chewy texture. To make of for the loss of that great texture of real toast, I love biting into it and get that great flavor of butter!!!! Ha Ha, I hope that helps, it is very hard to describe!!

Votre pain est délicieux, je ne le fais pas avec la machine à pain. Je fais donc agir ma levure dans une tasse d'eau 10 minutes, donc, je n'ajoute pas le lait d'amande aux oeufs. Ça ferait trop de liquide. Cependant je trouve qu'il ne lève pas comme il devrait! Avec mon batteur sur socle, combien de temps, me conseillez-vous de le mélanger? Svp. Une réponse serait appréciée. Merci!

Je suis si contente que tu apprécies le pain Dany. Je vous suggère de mélanger la pâte pendant environ 7 minutes. Assurez-vous d'utiliser de l'eau tiède pour toucher, pas trop chaude et vous n'avez pas besoin de lever la levure instantanée. Saupoudrez-le simplement dans l'eau tiède et remuez, puis ajoutez le miel et le reste des ingrédients. Vous devriez avoir un pain parfait. J'espère que ça aide. Un de mes adeptes a également ajouté un œuf supplémentaire car il ne montait pas lors de la fabrication et elle a trouvé que cela aidait. Je n'ai pas encore essayé mais je vais le faire car j'ai trouvé en hiver qu'il ne monte pas de la même manière que la saison estivale. Prends soin de toi!

Hey Gayle, I’ve made this bread numerous times; first with flaxseed and then lupin... first few times were great, both in machine and then mixed in machine and risen and baked myself. Last few times, bread hasn’t risen at all, either way! I’m so frustrated. In your opinion, is it my machine? It’s the only constant except ordering more ingredients as they run out. My machine is very old and not used in 20 years... would poor kneading lead to not rising or a new batch of flour or wheat gluten not working? Just don’t want to buy another machine if the problem could be something else. Sorry so long, lol! Thanks for your opinion

I would guess it is your yeast. Other then that I am not sure Fury. Try proofing your yeast and see if is active. I am sorry this is happening.

The original recipe uses ground golden flaxseed instead of lupin flour and water instead of cashew milk.

Hi Sue This is correct, I find the slices are so large, where as baking in the oven it has the shape of a loaf of bread and the slices are smaller. Other then that there is nothing wrong with baking in the bread maker! Enjoy it is a fantastic bread!!

I got a great-sized loaf like yours once I added a third egg. My prior attempts were very short breads. Maybe it’s the chilly air of winter, but using three eggs in the recipe made the difference. Thanks for an awesome bread recipe. It even toasted perfectly.

I just made a second loaf again using three room temperature eggs, and I got great height. So it definitely helps. I’ll see if the third egg is needed come the summer months. :)

Yes you can add water in place of the cashew milk. I tried it and it did not really make much of a difference!

some lupin flours can have a slight bitter taste.

@@tarinewton7296 sweetness does not counteract bitterness, salt does. There's not actually much lupin flour in this recipe anyway, but "Low Carb Gluten Flour Bread" wouldn't attract so many views. I'm guessing that much sweetener is because folks in America (and Canada) are just accustomed to sweet bread.

Its not sweet at all it's just to counteract the lupin flour. You'll taste the yeast before you'll ever get any sweetness. If you ever baked with lupin flour, you know its very bitter.

@@cassieoz1702 It depends on what brand you get generally from what I've heard. Ive only had one brand and its not that bad. How many have you tried? The channel 'serious keto' has a video comparing a few. Also, the channel 'the keto kitchen', who's based in the UK, has a great in depth video on lupin flour and also mentions how bitter it can be and how the bitterness varies from brand to brand. You should give them a watch if you haven't.

I’m always running out of the vital wheat gluten aswell!! I’ve made countless loafs (original recipe with flax seed) and I’ve had to re purchase vital wheat gluten multiple times but I haven’t run out of the other ingredients yet! I’m soooo excited to try the recipe with lupin flour, I miss white bread!!! Has anyone made it exactly like the bread machine version except substituting the flax seed for lupin flour? I’m wondering how it will turn out in the bread machine :)

Hi Shania I have not made it in the bread maker but I am sure it will be fine. I really enjoy it with lupin flour! You are right I buy the Bob Mill's vital wheat and the package is so small. Cindy, if you used Anthony's which has a yellow tint, it's very bitter. Lifesource oat fiber is white and tasteless!

You should have used 2 pans and divided the dough.

You would not get much of a loaf if you divide into 2. The one loaf is a perfect size to get a great slice.

Wonderful bread recipe. But why did you start out with the bread machine then do the rest with the manual process? Why not just do from start to finish with the bread machine. It defeats the whole purpose of having one.

I was waiting for the psyllium husks and was so pleased not to see it as a part of this bread. I don't know what it is, but it nauseates me. This bread is gorgeous. It looks like that French bread you make with a top on the loaf pan. Pain de Mie or Pullman loaf. It also has a thick crust. I can only imagine how good it would be toasted. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

Nope this is a wheat bread, the lupin flour is pretty much incidental. Same reason so many have unfollowed 'I Don't Sugar Coat'. Not because of the use of gluten, but because of the misleading video titles

This is not wheat bread. Vital wheat gluten is what's left after the starch has been removed. It's nothing but the actual gluten, which needs to be cooked before it can be consumed. It's also known as gluten flour for that very reason. It's almost entirely insoluble. Same with oat fiber. It's made from grinding the husk the oat is in and is also an insoluble fiber. Saying this is wheat bread is the same as saying eating an egg shell is the same as eating eggs.

@@Mystress1980 i know exactly how it's made and what it is. It is wheat gluten. You can buy wheaten starch (like cornstarch) and wheat gluten but they are both wheat products/components. There is a LOT more gluten in this than lupin flour (and it is totally reliant on the gluten for structure), hence my annoyance at the use of click bait titles

I have seen people claim its wheat free. I would say its prob somewhat inflammatory so not particularly healthy regardless if sensitive or not.wheat is not GMO but I have NEVER seen organic vital wheat gluten.also wheat is highly sprayed with roundup. That being said I do make this bread cuz I'm an addict what can I say? And it turns out great in breadmaker.try replacing egg with whites only for less yellow
