I will say this: I give the Warriors about a 98% chance of winning game 5. It's almost a forgone conclusion. HOWEVER, if somehow the Mavs pull off a win, then I agree with Nick that the complexion of things change dramatically. A Mavs win in game 6 at home isn't so implausible with the momentum swinging their way. Then, given Luka's established cold killer demeanor in game 7's, all bets are off. In other words, if you're a Warriors fan, you DEF want win now, not later.

No the statistics don't change from 3-0 to them now down 3-1, the "no team has come back from 3-0" stat includes every team that then won the next game or two and none have ever won 4 straight and only 3 have ever forced a game 7- in the history of the NBA. Now if Nick just brushed aside the stats and said there's a first time for everything, fine, that's a better argument, he's just wrong with the one he chose.

Yes the statistics do change. You're believing in the gamblers fallacy. Let's say I have a bet that I can flip a coin heads 100 times in a row. Obviously the odds are astronomically low. But once I've done 97 heads and I only need 3 more (like the mavs need 3 more wins) the odds are better for me. And each single flip is a 50/50 no matter the previous absurdity of 100 in a row. Now the mavs vs the warriors probably isn't a 50/50 matchup and I think the mavs lose the series. But nick is right that the 3-0 odds don't apply anymore.
