Hello, again! The original parts of this video are my favourite work of yours, so i was really glad to see this shorter version! I have saved the older videos in my hard drive so i can watch them. Great work of great feelings! Also, watching the 181 DMU's i must say i am reallly satisfied by the fact that 189 DMU's have kept this retro feeling alive, they remind me of the 181's glory.

You are quite right. I likes kiha 181 the best trains. I'm so happy to make a video of the Kiha181.

181 DMU fan is numerous in Japan. The engine sound was a real feast to the ears. 181 DMU's were exported to Myanmar. Thank you!

The interior of this train feels like it's something out of the middle 1960's....
If the rough translation of the Japanese Wikipedia page is correct, the KiHa 181 was the trainset that introduced long-distance express train travel to many parts of Japan during the middle 1960's. They have served their purpose, and it's now time to give them a deserving retirement and replace them with KiHa 189's for the most part.

At least until the middle 1980's, KiHa 181 trainsets also included dining cars on their long-distance trains. But those are now gone, forcing passengers to eat "ekiben" bought at major train stations (not that is a bad thing--ekiben are generally very delicious and feature local specialties like Hida beef at Takayama Station or shumai at Yokohama/Shin-Yokohama Stations).
