As an English Chef, I've learnt so much from you Maangchi over the years...But what really impresses me is that, even with 6m+ subscribers and videos with ridiculously good viewing figures, and all that that brings financially; you are still publishing new content, new recipes. So much respect, and if South Korea has some sort of 'Top Citizen' medal you should be getting it because you've done as much or more than KPop to put that Country firmly on the global map!

This looks so delicious. I found out about ribbon/belt fish when I saw they had some at my local fishmonger. It's very affordable here on the east coast of Australia. It was so tasty cooked - I coated it with flour and pan fried - but will have to try this next time.

I've made it my mission to buy whatever looks fresh and inexpensive at the markets (Flemington, here in Sydney) Bought small whiting last time, $5/kg and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! So many people just go for the usual salmon, bream, fillets etc and it's such a shame! Have seen belt fish at the markets and will give it a try but I'll do your flour/pan fry first to get a feel for what it's like! Cheers!

Hi, Maangchi. Annyeonghaseyo. I am from the Philippines, and we have beltfish here, even if I rarely eat that. It tastes good anyway. In Filipino (Tagalog), we call that 'Espada', which is literally translated as 'Sword'. Anyway, we usually eat that fish fried. Sometimes it can be cooked in some different ways.

@@Maangchi madam it’s a dream come true seeing your like and comment , I really love you so much and appreciate all the efforts you put in your videos. We clean the fish and we season it, with cumin, paprika, salt pepper, crushed garlic and finely chopped parsley and cilantro, we marinated for a 30 min and we coated in flour and fry it, or braised in tomato sauce with pepper and potatoes.

It looks so yummy. This dish is called “ Vala mulakittathu” in Kerala, South India. Belt fish is called Vala. You can use coconut chilly paste with raw mango for braising.

We used to eat a lot in India. This fish has to dry in a sunlight we call it "pata" ( straight lining fish) and then you have to cook it in egg plant, tomato, potatoes, onion and add some tamarind water it is so severy delicious with rice be used to eat in winter a lot because after overnight it takes very better and delicious next day 😅
