Silver sun pick-ups is one band that surprised me. Saw them at the Greek theater and they played and sounded so f#@kin great live. But like many others just didn't sound as good live. Saw em 7 times between 73-77…unbelievable shows but still wish I had seen earlier but just wasn’t quite old enough to do so….anyway, there really isn’t any band ever that put on a show where the crowd was so captivated that there an eerie silence of open jaws until each song ended at which pint the audience simply when nuts…no one knew music could be so powerfully emotional…note, I’m not catorizing their music as it was so diverse, eclectic and multi culturally influenced it can’t just be called “rock” music…so far ahead of their time no has ever caught up to it…so it will go down like Bach..Mozart…and last forever…anyway, just keep searching and listening to it all cause there is no other band like this one…they are the GOAT

It's all instrumental, no vocals. And - YES - It IS AMAZING !!! I imagine that's how Jimmy's been hearing this song in his head all these years... Y'all go check it out!
@gardengatesopen Жыл бұрын
@@gmez478 I too saw them at a very young age... As a young American teenager, I was lucky enough to see them in '79 at the Knebworth Festival in England. It's a long story of how that came about. The short story is it wasn't planned, and when we found out there was going to be a concert, (THIS concert!!!) my younger brother & I begged our parents like we had never begged before!! We were on a family vacation over there when the 2 festival concerts were announced. Funny how the announcement was only 2 weeks in advance! My brother and I were so young that we, of coarse, had to get permission from our parents to go to this all day festival, in a foreign country, to travel far away without any adult supervision, over several different forms of transportation. We had to take a subway (the underground, we started from London), the subway took us to a train station, the train traveled to a tiny country town where we boarded a bus, the bus dropped us at a country lane where we walked with thousands of other kids of all ages for a very long trek to our final destination: a very large wheat field with the tallest stage I had ever seen! It was about 20 feet high. Anyway, my mother was insisting she go with us! But of coarse, I had to tell my mother that would NOT be a good idea, and I told her she would've had a terrible time, etc. I just couldn't imagine watching Led Zeppelin with my mother standing right beside me! Well, whatever I said, it worked! And my brother and I were off on literally, an adventure of lifetime😢!! It's one I'll never forget! And luckily, they were recording a movie of it, so I can now watch that footage & it takes me RIGHT BACK to those very extraordinary moments that I was in the presence of Rock Gods. Truly, I could feel their energy from 20 feet away. It sounds corny, I know! They just had this vibe, it was surreal. Charisma is not a strong enough word to describe their "presence" but that's what they had, in spades! I saw a LOT of concerts back then during that Golden Age of concerts, but THAT ONE concert, THIS BAND, is one I've carried with me through my entire life. This band put on a concert that was NOT forgettable! You say seeing them changed your whole outlook. I do believe I know what you mean! The concert I saw was different from any other band, just because it was THEM. Saying they were magical up on that stage sounds so clichè, but that really is what they were. Magical! The band has looked back on that concert and said "...they weren't tight, they weren't ready to play for an audience after such a long hiatus..." blah, blah, blah... I'm telling you that those things didn't matter to us! The energy of all us kids out there in that trampled field was electric with anticipation, and just plain excitement! And when they finally did appear!! Talk about a VIBE, well !! THE Band had THE VIBE!! They were MAGNIFICENT!!! The entire experience was MAGNIFICENT!!! I'm still, to this day, so very grateful to my parents for letting is go to that festival! BEST parenting decision they EVER made!! Of coarse, the times were different back then. The dangers weren't as high risk like it is these days. Or at least, we weren't aware of them. I would never be able to let my own kids travel alone like that these days... At any rate, Zeppelin did NOT disappoint at that concert!! In my eyes- they could do NO WRONG! I easily forgave them any squeaks, or missed note! I wasn't there for perfection. I was there just to experience THEM! My brother and I found a good spot about 20 feet away from the stage. We HAD to be that far away from the stage just to see the people up there ON the stage!! I remember wondering if we were going to be too far away from them (Zep) to get the full affect. I wanted to be close enough to them to feel like I was in the same room with them. Not in a creepy, obsessive way, but just in the way where you sit around jamming with people. Even though I was young, I had already been to many concerts back home. And the closer you are to the artists, the mire apt you are to "share the music in the moment" with the band members. I wanted THAT with Zeppelin ! Not too much to ask for, eh?!! Well, I got it!! Even at 20 feet away, and even with them being 20 feet higher in elevation, I could still feel their energy!! No other band ever came close to how they felt as a group. I could go on and on all day about this concert, but this comment is already way too long! I really just wanted to agree with you about how weirdly wonderful one powerful band can be life changing to an audience member. They literally make up more than one thread in the tapestry of my life.

No one writes music like this anymore because they're uneducated, think mediocrity is greatness, and can't be bothered to master their craft because of all the time they spend on social media chasing imaginary "friends." They're so disconnected and sheltered from real life that they can't write about life. You can't write about deep emotions if you've only experienced superficiality. Greatness requires commitment and sacrifice, two traits in short supply these days. It is just amazing for me to see *ANY* previously unseen images of Led Zeppelin, whether it's people queueing outside the Garden to enter, the band on-stage.....literally anything!

I feel exactly the same way!!! I was born in 1964, I just missed out on getting to see them live!!! Will always be the one thing I'll miss the most, but when I Wat h them and listen to them, nothing comes close to Led Zeppelin, the best there will ever be!!!

@@gusvouloukos6232 i often wonder what Plant thinks about when viewing (if ever) this type footage..."back then"....today at 74...experiencing his life and all that comes with it....i too never get tied of viewing "new footage" of any of the band...they all had "there way" of mystery....

Until I saw this video, I never heard the Rain Song much. It is just so incredibly beautiful from the instrument like vocals to Jimmy Page becoming his guitar seemingly effortlessly making it caress your ears with an unmatched mastery. It's an incredibly powerful song and rendition, I watch it daily now. Damn I wish I saw them when I grew up in the 70's!

Paul, I’m with you bro, I believe its the most beautiful artistically arranged ballad of all time and it was created by a critique by George Harrison, when he commented to Page and I quote “yall are good, but you don’t write any ballads” end quote, this work of art is the result! 😊

So many rock songs were slowed & mellowed for the masses of the older audience. Zep created some songs that showed the proper way of mellowing music.

So much of their music seems almost otherworldly, plucked out of the most magical ether, then brought to life by jimmy for ask of us. I'd like to thank him for that gift. It's amazing to take in and he gave it so freely. Brilliant, genius. I'm in awe. 1:25 1:25

Just 4 great musicians and one big mirror. The good ol’days. Reel Rock n Roll! They don’t make music like this anymore. I sound like my ol man talking about the big band era. But to me Pagey’s guitar sounds like the whole orchestra.

Such amazing talent, as an amateur musician myself at 55, I don’t understand how in the world these guys had this much talent, I mean it’s out of this world that they created these songs that continue to go on and on. As children grow into teenagers most of them will come across their music as I did and will be captivated by Led Zeppelin’s talent. It was actually my first cassette I purchased at 16 years old, the one that had the four symbols with an old man carrying a sack in front of an old stone house

For such a great live set, and my all time favorite live performance ever, the version of "since I've been lovin you" that plays in the movie, for some reason, the song that's really emotionally stuck with me is this rendition of the rain song.... I recently learned to play this on ukulele, and even put as many embellishments from Jimmy as possible... It takes me back to when if first saw this movie at age fifteen, in 2002... It got me seriously started on drums and John Bonham truly was my main inspiration those first years of learning. Now in my twilight I see the sun setting on the horizon, and would give anything to go back... When my whole life was ahead of me and I still felt joy and wonder and inspiration. Just to jam again with my dad, and be a kid again.... If we only have this one life, this one go around.... Then it truly would be sad.
