Side note: it has actually been shown that alpha males take more of a supporting role to the alpha females. (Shown in the Yellowstone wolves). The only reason it is assumed alpha males are the main leaders of a pack is because only men were studying them at the time and that biased their observations. Of course every pack is different though and form their own dynamics.
