I'm glad you mentioned how Miles isn't that interesting compared to Peter Parker. I always liked Miles in concept but he was way too similar to Parker. Even with the Spider-Men crossover(which I very much enjoyed). What helped was Into the Spider-verse which made Miles his own character. Also, I'm of the opinion Miles shines when Peter Parker doesn't exist. Because having Miles Morales around when Peter Parker alive is akin to having Batman Beyond around when Bruce Wayne is still operating. It doesn't make a lot of sense. But I'm glad Miles has gained popularity. I just want him to be more fleshed out and have a unique rogues gallery.

Awesome. I love Ultimate Spider-Man. The first Spider-Man comic I ever read and got me into reading Spider-man via 616(JMS run). It also made me a huge fan of Mark Bagley. In my top ten and has my favorite Spider-Man design.

Tbh what really differs original 60's spidey and the ultimate one is that the ultimate focuses more on the social life of a superhero teen (like gosh I really enjoy listening to MJ or aunt May in the 1610 universe). the other focuses on the difficulties of only the troubled adult Peter Parker.

It's strange that only Spider-Man is the one character that can carry a run in a different universe. Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Girl were the only successful characters in alternate universes.

Another great thing about Ultimate Spider Man is Aunt May and Jameson development. Instead of being a frail old lady who only exist to make Peter worried, Ultimate May is a true mother figure, who cares for Peter and others like Gwen and has her own struggles. She is also not stupid, and is able to punish Peter if she suspect he is doing something suspect behind her back. Eventually she learns who Peter is and comes to accept his role as Spider man. As for Jameson, while he does start as the typical angry newspaper editor who hates Spider man, the book slowly showcase the reasons behind his dislike for Spider man and shows him learning to overcome his anger and recognize Spider man as true hero (which happens, ironically, in the Ultimatum tie-issue). These changes were so well made that they end up having a influence in the main continuity (May learned Peter's secret in JMS run and in the recent comics, Jameson is actually a ally of Spider man and knows that he is Peter Parker).

You know how much I love Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man is the bomb, genuinely in my top 10. The follow-up with Miles and Spider Men isn't too shabby either. I don't care what people say Bendis is a great writer especially paired with Bagley. That moment in spoiler of Spider-Man I shed a tear and was the perfect full circle moment. I wish they'd bring the Ultimate universe back one day.

I loved spoiler of Spider-Man I think it was one of the few times that something like that was handed right in a comic. I also loved the fallout mini series showing everyone trying to carry on it was fantastic

@@jithinff8686 well he is. There's been times where his work hasn't been great but he created so many things that matter still today. He reinvented the Avengers, ultimate Spider-Man is still one of the best interpretations ever and he created miles. A character that has exploded the last few years. People always say his writing is like talking heads but I don't really see it personally.🤷

Yes!!! I loved Bagley’s art so much and totally missed it when he parted ways with USM. Of course there were some other great artists but nobody compared to Bagley IMO.

So I did try and read this years ago, and really never got into it. BUT... I think I just wasn't really ready for it at the time. And now? I feel ready 😎 I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in. Let's hope my replacement omni arrives soon (got a dodgy copy and had to return it 😓), and let's also hope they churn these out like they've got "Conan" in the title! Actually Mark Bagley was scheduled to leave the book after the first story arc was completed. Leonard Kirk was going to take over the book until a comic shop told Mark he should stick with the book because it was selling really well and was a hot book!

Miles morales and peter are extremely different i don’t understand anyone who says they are similar. Miles was a loner shy kid who only felt chill with uncle aaron and wasnt super smart or into science like peter was. (Until the shitty game changed that).

I'm sorry, but... did you say "eat Wolverine"?!!!!! I haven't read much of USM. But I'd say its the only Ultimate book I didn't hate, even though I was turned off to the whole Ultimate Universe as a whole. Other Ultimate books felt like they were going out of their way to change the characters in 'shocking' ways. But USM just felt like an update that made appropriate changes while maintaining the spirit of who Peter and his supporting cast are.

Ultimate Spider-Man is “the best” because it just rips off the original series and updates them. It’s like, hey that clone saga was a good story. It was decent. Great premise. What if we do it all over again but fix it. It’s like Bendis was the soldier who sat back and watched everyone fight in the war and then he showed up and killed whoever was still alive. All the heavy lifting was done already for Spider-Man so of course Ultimate Spider-Man is “the best.” [x]

Feel like we desperately need a new universe for the comics that follow more from TUSM. There's faaaaarrrr too many comics from the 616 universe. And it's way too hard to pick through it. So ultimate spiderman was fantastic cause they only did what works. They had a lot more to work with and explored characters further! If we could get a new universe with a interesting Peter Parker, not a total loser, but geeky, which gets him a bit bullied. If we could get a universe where there's a few spider people, like miles, or gwen, BUT- We have Peter Parker still as the most powerful one or some kind of ability. - The silly thing that they do is they never give them enough difference between all the spidermen. It's just a gender swap or race swap. If they did something like... Peter Parker, Has organic webbing, strongest spider sense, or heck maybe he's the one who has to make webshooters cause he's the scientist out of the three. Miles Morales, Different Super Hero Name. Has electric powers, NOT INVISIBILITY, Maybe save that for I dunnooo GHOST SPIDER? Gwen? Would make sense with the name :P Aaaaaaand maybe one of those have organic webbing instead. Thinking personality wise... Peter Is the Geek. Scientist. Smartist, funniest, gringest? Maybe. Miles. A bit less of a geek, not into science, but instead like... Crafting? Taking apart things and making them into something else? - GWEN, What if you made her this BA sexy as hell punk like chick? Into things like gataur, drums, skatboarding maybe? And she has such a dramaticexperience that makes her start hanging out with the two more dorky people or something? - You get what I mean. The comics are just more... Stale than they should be.

This may sound strange or even offensive to some, but I just can't stomach Bagley's artwork (like most bubbled drawnings in the early 2000 comics era). Yeah, that one of greatest BMB story, but art...eww~ww :-/
