I got to meet Joe backstage during his "Ordinary Average Guy" tour and brought a guitar I built. He played it and was extremely complimentary about it. I asked him to sign it, he asked me to play one of his songs first, Funk 49 is what I played. He smiled and signed my guitar "Joe Walsh and Shit." The funny part is I built that guitar to play in church. Had to over the "and shit" with masking tape. He couldn't have been a nicer guy. Took about 5 min to just talk to me about life.

@@bigl6322 Oh yes...the downside of Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw. There's still a bit of trauma there for me on that, although I must admit, it did eventually lead me to finding out that Glen Campbell was actually a baddass and member of the Wrecking Crew. Also remember when FM became a thing. Still use the term "FM Voice" to describe DJs that deep tone and cadence.

So true story, my dad was a sound engineer for Joe Walsh back in the mid 60's in Cleveland, shortly after the band formed. I actually didn't find this out until I was 50, and my aunt casually dropped it into conversation one day as if everyone knew it. I would have thought my dad was so much cooler than I did had I known that, but looking back on how he was about sound, his stereo equipment, and the musical education he imparted to us, it makes a helluva lot of sense. Joe has alot of great stuff from before he joined the Eagles. Check out Life's Been Good To Me and Rocky Mountain Way some time. If you liked this, you'll enjoy them.

The percussion you were asking about sounds more than a little like the higher-pitched bongo. But it's more likely a large cowbell, followed by a pair of shakers appears halfway through the break. After the James Gang, Joe Walsh had some successful solo albums with a backup band called Barnstorm. Rocky Mountain Way is a must. He had albums like So What and The Smoker You Are The Player You Get. Then Joe joined the Eagles who he remains with to this day. But even as an Eagle, Joe continues to crank out solo work. He avoids social media, so you can't Facebook him. He's a quirky dude, worth following. And on the James Gang, Joe Walsh recommended another brilliant guitarist to join them named Tommy Bolin. You'd do well to plug into Bolin's solo albums Teaser and Private Eyes. I recommend the songs Post Toastee and Busting Out For Rosie. And closing out with Joe, his solo song Life's Been Good To Me So Far from the album But Seriously Folks is worth a reaction.

Joe Walsh has a long career history of music from this band, James Gang to another iconic band, Eagles, and his solo career**both continues today. There are tons of video clips of Joe Walsh from his stints in Eagles, solo plus James Gang especially live events. My friends and I were luckily enough to see Joe Walsh live in concert twice: once with Eagles in 2002 & second with his solo in 2017. If Joe on his solo or with Eagles arrives in area playing live, get tickets for awesome live event. Example in 2002's Eagles' concert in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, during one song, Joe was wearing a helmet that looks like Miner's helmet but with camera mounted showing the audience as he is jamming his guitar! 3.5 hours of live event was awesome that I will never forget in my life.
