Had the opportunity to own Madone SL6 2022 and Emonda SL5 2022. I'm a newbie and cardiovascularly unfit for cycling so take this with a grain of salt. My intention when I bought Emonda SL5 is to help me climb better. I believe it made me faster compared to my first hybrid bike FX3. Climbing bridges and simple slopes is easy. It's a fast bike, very responsive, road bump vibration is not bad at all. As for my newly bought Madone SL6 g6, I was hesitant to buy this at first as I thought it would make it harder to climb, I was wrong! Even though its slightly heavier than the Emonda, It is definitely faster on flats and when descending. I feel that I'm easily riding 5+mph more with the same effort on flats. However, on bridges/slopes, the climb is just a tad bit harder. My butt definitely appreciates the ISOSpeed as it helps absorb the bumps on the road. the stance when riding the Madone is more aggressive even with the stem flipped. Overall, both bikes are awesome and you really can't go wrong with either bikes. If you like riding in hilly places, go with the Emonda. But if you live in mostly flat area, both bikes are equally great. Although the Madone could be just a little faster.

Does anyone have a preference between the Domane SL 7 Gen 4 and Madone SL 6 Gen 7? I want to get pretty serious into biking but I also want to be comfortable and suggestions or insight would be great! 👍

I have a Domane and Emonda. The Emonda SLR is my group riding rig and I love it because it just moves. Its so fast that it feels like its got an electric motor. Once you're in a group with the aero benefit of being in the slipstream the Emonda is the easier bike to ride as a couple friends have Madones and the heavier deep dish wheels slow them down and the aero gives no benefit anyway because of the riders in front of you. Gear for gear, speed for speed with the Emonda I have to pedal a bit less than the guy next to me or in front of me with a Madone. This obviously changes in a double paceline when we're in the front, the next to a Madone I have to pedal harder. The Madone would be a great breakaway bike for this reason. I tried both at the shop and felt the Emonda to be more responsive, fun and tossable. It seemed to have better acceleration and was more effortless to maneuver around but it was twitchy. The Emonda is more like a sports car that changes energy states quicker, it turns quicker, it accelerates quicker, but has less top end. A goat worthy to be tossed around mountain passes. The Madone from my limited experience is more stable but holds speed and a given turn angle better. Its more like a German uber sedan that can truck along effortlessly at autobahn high speed. It holds momentum better especially out of the peloton but strangely within the group the Emonda takes the cake. And while the Emonda is the better climber I would take the Madone on long, technical descents like in the alps not for the speed but for the stability. I'd want the Emonda climbing, but the Madone descending. The reason I got a Domane is as a winter bike because I got a good deal and I was impressed with how nice it rode. Its really comfortable and honestly if I were to ride a century I would pick the Domane. Unless it were in the mountains. All of this is subjective. All three bikes are what dreams are made of but in the end it depends on not necessarily even the intended use of the rider, but their personality. No matter what you pick you're in for a treat. Also Trek wheels are on sale now so there's nothing wrong with buying a lower level version and then upgrading the wheels that alone makes a big difference. Did that with my Emonda getting RSL wheels and put its Pro's on my Domane made nice difference.

Awesome comparison. I have a domane sl5 and Just did a 200 mile ride in under 12 hours (Seattle to Portland) on it and my body felt completely comfortable the entire time.

I'm a little late on this, but can anyone say how much faster the Madone is on flats compared to the Emonda, like at the same effort is the Madone like 1, 2 MPH faster on flats? More? Less? Thanks. I want to know how much the aero matters between the two.

Hey Logan, thanks for asking such a great question. Unfortunately, the answer isn't a simple one. A stronger rider will receive a more significant advantage than an average rider. I am an above-average rider. And when I pedal on a Madone, it feels effortless, and I have power on tap. That is not to say that Emonda is a slouch by any means. Ironically, you would ask this question today. I just uploaded our latest bike showcase video on the GEN 7 Madone. That will be my next road bike purchase. Well, The Gen 7 SLR 6, lol. You wouldn't be disappointed with either bike, my friend. However, the "speed" of the Madone is noticeable for most riders. I hope this answer is helpful to you. Thank you for taking the time to watch and ask your question. Both are appreciated.

I’ll say this…. I came off a Cervelo Caledonia (ordered it the second it was announced publicly). It was a great bike. That Caledonia is closer to an Emonda minus the aero parts honestly, even though it’s labeled as their endurance bike. On the Domane it’s a literal endurance bike in every sense of the word. Taller head tube, definitely sitting more upright like you should on an endurance bike. Handling on the Domane isn’t as responsive as the Caledonia whereas the Emonda was equally as or more responsive to the Caledonia. Ride quality was better on the Domane with IsoSpeed. But ultimately I went with the Emonda SL7 AXS because of the added aero benefits, same or better handling, and my stack/reach numbers were almost spot on in a size 56. Added 5mm to the stack and the fit was within less than 1mm. Reach was also less than 1mm from factory, so, can’t complain there! The ONLY reason I didn’t get a Madone is because I already have a P1 Speed Concept SLR9 AXS. If I want to go fast, I’ll just use that. Plus, I don’t do crit racing, personally. The speed concept is so fast it should be illegal 😂

Hey Alex. Thank you for taking the time to watch as well as ask your question. Both are appreciated. The short answer is no. I personally do not know anyone who owns an Emonda that would use it to ride a 100+ on any given ride. I know if I were to ride a century of any kind, I would choose my Checkpoint or a Domane. I hope this answer is helpful for you, Alex. Thanks again for the support, and let us know which bike you choose.

@@GetOutArizona thank you so much for your response! I appreciate all of the information you provided in this video as well as the thought you put into your comments. I definitely enjoy riding longer distances in the 3-6 hour range so I think Domane is going to be my first choice. I also have a ton of hills where I live and I love to shred, so I’ll just have to figure out how to get an Emonda as well 😝 Thanks again

I am a sucker for big downtube and aero shape like madone even though my fitness will suggest me to go for domane. Should i disregard that and just go for madone? im sure i will be more eager to ride everyday if i have a madone instead of domane. I just wonder why trek cannot make a bike with madone profile, but with domane geometry for most casual riders like us.

I wish they made a Madone with the comfort of a Domane. I'd be all over that without hesitation. However, Trek will not make one bike to rule them all when they can produce three that multiple people will buy.

Please breakdown the RIDE QUALITY between the two! Are they ESSENTIALLY THE SAME BIKE? Not bringing up the Domane. Just discuss the COMFORT for each of these bikes! Thank you.
@GetOutArizona
@GetOutArizona Жыл бұрын
The ride quality of these two bikes is nearly identical, and there is a percentage of riders, I suspect, that wouldn't perceive the minor differences. Though it is my opinion that the Emonda handles better in the corners than the Madone. Additionally, if you do not need a "sprinters speed," I would choose the Emonda over the Madone for comfort, as the geometry is slightly less aggressive. Which some, but not all, riders will appreciate on longer rides. I hope this answer is helpful to you, Rick. I appreciate you talking the time to watch, ask your question and leave your feedback.

@@GetOutArizona well I have the Madone SLR6 and it’s comfortable to me. Is the Emonda COMFY? I’ve seen MIXED reviews that state rough ride/ comfort ride/ so so ride! What is your take on the comfort of the Emonda SL5? Would it serve as a great second bike to the Madone SLR6? I’m not in it for the speed nor racing. I just love riding and looking for a second bike. Please advise! Thank you!
@GetOutArizona
@GetOutArizona Жыл бұрын
@@rickmoses5081 As far as the mixed reviews on the ride comfort of the Madone, I feel this is, in part, due to the rider’s body type. I’ve seen this exact scenario play out with high-end Specialized bikes as well as Canyon and LOOK. Now, if I were to choose a companion bike for my Madone SLR6, nice choice; by the way, I would choose the Domane SL5. The fact that you are not looking for speed or racing but are more focused on comfort makes this an easy choice, in my opinion. Do I feel you would enjoy the Emonda SL5? Absolutely. Do I still feel the Domane SL5 is a better choice/value? Indeed I do. This is why I will be ordering mine at the end of summer. 😉 Thanks again for being interactive and asking your questions. I do my best to give useful answers. If you don’t mind, keep us posted on which bike you choose.

@@GetOutArizona well thanks my friend. I appreciate your quick responses. Thanks for taking the time out to aid me in my decision. Ok I went to Trek here in the Dallas area and I took the 2023 Emonda SL5 for a quick spin. The outcome, was as I thought but EVEN BETTER! The color is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, the pictures and web video’s really don’t do this paint scheme justice! The ride was NOT, I repeat, NOT UNCOMFORTABLE at all.
