I remember when Brittany Spears was popular and people were saying she was the next Madonna. I thought compared to Live To Tell, Crazy For You, Oh Father, & Take A Bow, Brittany would never come close. Madonna was pop, but she had some very emotional songs.

@@JB-pl1iu she is a great pop singer. Im always struck by all the different tones & textures she has even just in her ballads. Like in Spanish eyes her voice gets really gritty & raw in the chorus. It always hits me. Theres different categories of singers. The big power vocalists like Celine. then the more personality pop vocalists like Madonna. She is a chameleon who can lend her voice to so many different kinds of production. Celine cannot do that.

Madonna and Janet Jackson are my absolute favorite artists of all time. I had the honor of seeing them both in concert and they DID NOT disappoint. Both of these ladies are a force to be reckoned with and have stood the test of time in more ways than one.

Madonna has so many great tunes, but this one is extra special and accurate. Madonna was married to Sean Penn (the guy with the huge dimple from the movie clips), he hated the attention from the paparazzi and would become aggressive, eventually he became physical with Madonna so she left and filed for divorce. Madonna is the real deal. This was her at 27 straight after her very young early mid 80s breakthrough. She proved she could pull off a mature ballad, written by herself and was much more than hype but here to stay and expand her audience to Adults and cross over to A/C stations as well. Beautiful, timeless song imo She looks beautiful in the video as well.

Her mom died when she was a child. That is a big trauma. She hasn't had an easy life. though it might seem that way. I think it was Dennis Rodman who once said "It's not easy being Madonna". They had a relationship for a bit. But she is a hard worker, an amazign business woman, and very creative, she is kind of like a chameleon, she changes colors, she sheds her skin every few years. This is one of her best songs because it showcases her lovely voice and has a palpable nostalgia about it.
