Ah yes The Darkness, though they never take themselves seriously, they do take their music seriously. They are not shy in wearing their influences on their sleeves, AC/DC and Queen mostly. Speaking of Queen, their current drummer is Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor of Queen. As for their music I would suggest you check out Open Fire, Last of Our Kind, Heart Explodes.

One of a kind band without a doubt, channeling the Glam rock era, with a sense of humor. Another highly original metal band you might enjoy: Coheed and Cambria: strange, creative often operatic, with themes that are downright bizarre. Check out Ten Speed of God's blood, which is most certainly the only song in history about a demonically possessed bicycle.

@@GMaybee the darkness doesn’t get nearly the love they deserve. their songwriting is on a different level. they could have been one of the biggest bands in history if they hadn’t put the brakes on shortly after this album. they were so unlike anything else at the time, and so damn talented, while still refusing to take themselves seriously. just a crazy combo. To me, it's obvious that this is intended to be hard seventies-style glam rock done in an over-the-top eighties-style video! The front man is Justin Hawkins, who's a Brit.....most recently, he joined The remaining members of the Foo Fighters on stage, along with various other guest rock stars, for the tribute concerts for their recently passed drummer, Taylor Hawkins (No relation)..........he has his own KZbin channel called "Justin Hawkins Rides Again" and knows music pretty darn well.....and has joined other musical people in joint videos, such as Rick Beato.......and as you might expect, he's a bit of a nut....but with a good heart, as far as I can tell.

No band has ever gotten bigger, then fallen off faster than these guys. They were headlining Reading Festival before the album had even come out. That was only on the strength of a couple of singles. The 'disappointing' second album brought them crashing down, though. Although they picked themselves up and are now a solid band with a catalogue of good-to-great albums and can still draw a crowd.
