If you go magnet fishing,you could also include finding antiquities from the past, scap metal and salvage recovery as well as fishing equipment ,I mean, hell, I don't know how many lures,hooks and sinkers I lost ,,,,,but yeah I agree with your comment ,,, cleaning our 💧 ways is important to all living creatures ,we don't need extra pollutants in our water catchments ,,,, when I was in high school I read a book about Eastern philosophy and a proverb or a poem ,?anyway, it says water sustains all living things ,,,,and then somewhere else in the same verse it says water is borne of nature and nature is borne of water ,,,,to this day I don't remember the rest of the poem or proverb ,or even who the author was but I do know this conservation of our waterways is very important work I hope they keep up the good work

@@jonathantepairi2664 Something about the "Nature of Water" ? I too think these people are doing society a favor , but considering it may become so popular ... what if we ask magnet fishers to register and collect water samples , just as a data point we can work and learn with . And I guess protect the mining rights to those who would give a care to the environment ???

Piece of advise for pulling rope over anything potentially sharp, ie; backside of a gaurdrail,...go to your local fire department and see is they have any 1 1/2 or 2 1/2, or any size fire hoses they have taken out of service. They are not indestructable, and after a while need to be replaced. Cut about a 3 foot section, run your rope through it, and lay it over the rough/sharp edges. Gaurdrails, concrete railings on bridges are pretty rough. A small donation to help out a local, possibly volunteer, fire department would help them replce a hose, and help you save on replacing rope so often. Good luck...all I ever got was a railroad spike!

Also effective to conserve your lines: acquire heavy canvas "remnants" to wrap the guardrails with loops attached to one edge and metal "frogs" on opposite edge to secure the wrap. This will prevent wear, fraying or cutting your lines. Might also be helpful to get a winch or heavy duty come- alongs. I personally pulled a Volks wagon from the Monacacy River in Maryland with two other guys and three come- alongs rated at 1500 lbs.

Good advice, or just use an old rug or folded up blanket, over the guard rail.

Update: I read in the comments below that the Harley motorcycle was stolen 300 miles away from the dump site. It must have been taken by some amateurs since the parts chopped and resold would have been in the thousands of dollars. It probably was dumped from the back of a pickup truck that would allow the tailgate to be higher than the guardrail.

Seems like the motorcycle would have been easier to recover if you'd fashioned a block and tackle. It's easy and inexpensive. Rock climbers use them on cliffs to lift heavy items. You can multiply your lifting power by adding length of rope between two pulleys.
@kevinstorm21672 жыл бұрын
Guys, to save your backs, and make your job easier, invest in some off road snatch blocks (at least two), these allow you to redirect your line of pull, and reduce the weight your are pulling. They are not expensive for basic off road blocks, You may also wish to download and print the US Army's Vehicle Recovery card. This card breaks down how to use the blocks and what type of set ups. Keep in mind it is designed for big Army vehicles, but the principles are the same.

Make a claim on the bike where you ask to have the bike released to you after the usual 90 days of evidence hold. Sometimes, you can sell the bike to a restorer for maybe $1000 to $3500 for parts. Sometimes, the original bike's insurance company also gives out rewards to "Treasure Finders" on Lost/Stolen goods so you might get a $500+ to $5000 reward. Ask the county sheriff to claim/release the bike to you ASAP because after 90 days they usually scrap/destroy the stuff -- The pipes/frame still look decent enough for parts salvage! You could earn more than just a few few bucks off this find from a local scrap dealer OR a motorcycle restorer! V
@LaSouthernGemini4 жыл бұрын
@YungSumGuy Actually you are the idiot. My father owned a VW restoration shop in New Orleans. Certain parts of certain years can be worth much than others. Can you tell me why the 1967 Beetle is more desired than 1963 to 1970? No you can't b/c you are too busy calling people idiots. The first three letters indicate is a U.S. made Harley and you can look up the rest. Certain states allow the 'finder' to take possession of the found item after certain conditions are met. It often costs the finder NOTHING except some time and easy paperwork. If through an insurance company there are usually costs involved so it is on a case by case basis. Most of the bike is not worth it but to a shop that specializes in these .... it has value ... unlike your useless comment. If that rear wheel is not bent how much would it fetch? How about the front forks after a rebuild? The engine itself is a complete long block so it has core value.
@StarGateSG74 жыл бұрын
@YungSumGuy I see YOU HAVE NEVER restored a bike OR a car !!! _. It would take me less than 8 weeks in my off-hours to get that bike up-and-running to pristine condition. The low-oxygen content in the water preserved the frame pretty good from corrosion and I see more than a few parts I could restore. For $10,000-to-$15,000 worth of parts and an accounting of my restoration hours, I could sell the bike for about $32,000 all upgraded to a CVO-style touring bike. (i.e. $44,000 new!) _. That $12,000 cheaper than NEW! I know LOTS of bikers who would go all gaga for that bike at $12,000 cheaper than new. _. For me, I would NET about $15,000 after my labor and parts are accounted for 8 weeks of work that I happen to enjoy doing! That's a pretty good NET profit! _. Sorry kid, but I think I know a HECK of a lot more about bike/car/specialty goods restoration than you do! I've been doing it longer than you've been alive! V

Delta9SFBay Maybe watch the video in full before you leave a comment that makes no since. The police officer said the bike was stolen and the owner is in prison. The rug was just a rug remember I was there and you wasn’t so why would I say hi cop found a rug.

I don't know why but all of a sudden I seem to like magnet fishing and post 10 where he cleans up culverts and unclogs sewer drains.... Seems so satisfying to me. Gosh early retirement is wonderful😁

I for sure would have told the police about the very heavy and taped rolled up carpet it could quite possibly be a body.

Someone probably stole a bunch of lanterns from someone’s garden and for some reason had to ditch the evidence in the lake.

You guys are doing us all in the world a great favour , by having this hobby or past time , because you are cleaning up so much crap one way or another and having fun too . We really need to clean our river and places where people are just dumping . The places are really beautiful in sunsets and we should care what happens ?!!. I truly hope it’s not a bad situation that you found the bike , but I hope it brings peace to some one and you may have done that . Some one is using it as there personal dumping space and they need to know the river is important to the climate and your local place where fishing and magnet fishing are good things , and the bad guys are going to get caught soon if they don’t clean up there dirty habits , bless you and May you find some thing that rocks your boat and you can keep it for the right reasons ✊🏻👊🏻🤝🌏🤝🌏😇😇💞🌏💞✊🏻🌏✊🏻👊🏻

The thing you guys said looked like a rolled up rug with rope around it could have a body in it. Such a crazy find with the Harley it would not be surprising

If that motorcycle was loaded in the bed of a pickup truck, it wouldnt be to hard to back up lowered tailgate to railing for a simple shove out the back.
