4:25 "Times how many sectors do we have per track." The number of sectors per track is constant? No matter if the track is internal (smaller) or external (bigger)???

I have confusion when you multiplied the number of platters * 2, what was the 2 here? 4:13
@thv35105 жыл бұрын
The 2 denotes the two magnetic material surfaces embedded on the top and bottom of a single platter

Really good vid but pretty sure the disks aren't a couple of inches in diameter across. The 2.5/3.5" drives more denote the "height" if you were to lay it flat
@joelweiss9575Ай бұрын
Wrong - he meant that the recordable radii are only a couple of inches - he wasn't very clear on this. Also the disks themselves are either 2.5 or 3.5 inches in DIAMETER today - it's not the 'height' of the drive which varies with the number of disks. Disks used to be up to 14 inches in diameter in the 'old days' (actually the very first ones were 36 inches in diameter!).

Is sector another name for block?
@minxxdia11324 жыл бұрын
nope it's not. a block is a group of sectors that the operating system can point to. a block may be one sector, or it might be several sectors.

@shridharhegde25934 жыл бұрын
@@minxxdia1132 Yes. The video is very good. Also, this comment was 3 years ago. I was so stupid back then. Sorry for the original comment. I will not delete it though because the world should see that I commented it without any sense and am apologizing now. The accent is perfectly fine.
