Yes! All too often we see the craftsman checking for square and saying, "...and that looks pretty good." We rarely, if ever, see what happens if the box is out of square!

Beautiful dresser. How are you ordering the veneer- 10 mil, 20 mil, 2 ply? Also, I've read/seen other videos where they suggest using veneer on both sides of the wood to prevent warping, I'm guessing that hasn't been your experience?

Beautiful. Thanks for the great video. I especially likes how you used the brackets to keep the box squared. Also, my understanding is that there is no serious need to sand between lacquer coats, since the new coat blends into the old one. I’m curious as to what’s the reason you do it? Thanks again I always enjoy your builds.

I've noticed you never dado your plywood parts, but simply screw them together with butt joints. I have done it both ways, and usually use dado joints, but wondering. I know you do a lot of veneer anyway, but curious if there is a reason not to dado besides simply saving time. Thanks!

Jon, I was just thinking about trying a white oak veneer project. Thanks for the GL link. But as another poster asks, you don't mention which white oak version you used. Your GL link only takes you to the site not to the product you used and the swatches shown are hard to match to your sheet. Any help would be appreciated.

Really nice project and turned out beautiful. But I must say, I always find it a little funny with the slight cultural and especially design differences on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Because this dresser has many elements very much in common with furniture that you would find in 60's and 70's homes here. But the base does set it aside, and gives it a clearly modern touch.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I'm curious why you don't just buy plywood with the veneer already on it? Is there something im missing?
@philshock38053 жыл бұрын
I've never veneered plywood but I would think the main reason is that there's a LOT more variety of veneer available than veneered plywood. It also gives you more options for grain direction/continuing grain, plus it's easier to hide joints. Make a box and then lay out the veneer as you see fit.
@JonPetersArtHome3 жыл бұрын
One reason is, I don’t want to have to make that perfect miter joint at the sides and another is like to cover the edge banding.
