Apricott I agree. I did not like famous Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. It was so clumpy I didn’t understand the hype. The Tarte maneater mascara is so much better and doesnt clump my lashes

My trick for glowy blush: I use a matte blush and then put a non-shimmery highlighter over the top. The highlights I use are Essence Pure Nude or Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Dim Light. These highlighters are very similar and have literally no shimmer at all, so they don't emphasize texture. This gives me the glowy blush look of my dreams without being over the top.

I used to wear warm tones all the time a few years ago. Now, I mostly reach for cooler tones. While people are allowed to wear whatever they want, it's always been a pet peeve of mine seeing people with great skin always wear full coverage foundations.

I've had acne most of my life now. I never wear foundation, just use concealer to cover it up if it's bad. When I see people with beautiful skin put on foundation, it's like a kick to the gut. The trend everyone loves that I hate is intense cheek highlight 😳 I usually just use a glowy blush or bronzer on the cheeks if I want glow, or veeeeery subtle highlight. However, I do use very intense highlighter on the tip of my nose 😂 I think it's just because of my face shape though, I don't mind it on other people.

I used to be die hard on the liner but ONLY with falsies , and now I hate it on me ... I find it to make my eyes look sunken in and super small . I will every so often put a “baby” Wing lol but I just love eye looks without it ... I find you can see so much more of the work 😄

It’s true, makeup is personal to everyone bc we all have different skin tones. I love glowy skin because it makes me feel fresh ..I’m in my 30’s with lovely wrinkles 😂 I like to play around with makeup and not stay in one lane like I should 😜 I would rather wear eyeshadow for liner. I totally agree with the black liner, I have strong black brows, dark brown eyes and black hair and adding a black winged liner is almost too much, so I prefer a really thin brown liner and it makes a softer look even if I almost never wear liner

I agree with not always wearing a very deep, strong eyeliner. I'm fair, with blue eyes and blonde hair, and a heavy or very deep black eyeliner is great for special occasions or evening looks, but it's a bit more flattering for me for everyday to wear either an olive, khaki, or bronzey-plummy brown liner, whether it's pencil or shadow-lined, for every day. I still want long and voluminous black lashes though, lol.

Gimme that length!! I think lengthening mascaras help open my hooded eyes up more than blocky, chunky volumizing mascaras do. Length and curl are the things I look for. Benefit Roller Lash was my HG until I went cruelty free; it's my mission in life to find a CF dupe for this because it is the perfect mascara for length and curl.

100% agree with you on full coverage, I don‘t get why so many youtubers with perfect skin want that full coverage. I don‘t have perfect skin at all I get quite a few breakouts and espacially on that texture light coverage just looks so much better!!! After having everything else on I usually don‘t even see my breakouts that much anymore with just a tinted moisturizer 😅

Black liquid liner is a staple in my everyday makeup routine. I think practising and finding the perfect type of liquid liner (I prefer the brush type) and the way of applying it, is essential! You also have to take into the account your eye shape, especially for someone like me who has slightly hooded eyes.

When this video was 99% some of my favorite makeup techniques... LOL! I fully agree on what you were saying about brown vs. black liquid liner though; I have been wearing liquid liner almost every day for years and one day decided what the heck, let me try brown and that became my go-to for work. Similarly, I can no longer wear a total full coverage base without mixing in an oil, liquid highlight, or tinted moisturizer to tone it down a bit. It's funny how our preferences change!

I personally CANNOT stand neutral eyeshadow on myself. I have dark features, big and dark brows, dark eyes, dark hair and framed glasses. Anytime I wear brown shadow it DISAPPEARS ON MY EYES when the glasses go on and looks like I did nothing. Brown shadows can get in the bin for me 😂

My mascara preference is separation. I usually don't like any mascara that KZbinrs love. I have short, super straight lashes so I always look for wateroroof mascara, and I CANNOT stand clumps!

I agree with all of these except the glowy blush! I loveeee the look of glowy blush, even if you can see shimmer in it, I find that matte blushes (even the best formulas) aren’t as flattering on me. And I do love me a warm toned shadow, but I do have warm skin so it looks great on me, whereas cool toned shadows wash me out but they look fantastic on you!

As for pinks and oranges: I LOVE how they look on my face. But again, I think that it very much depends on one's completion and skin tone/eye colour. I have dark grey-blue eyes with central heterochromia in hazel, and pale warm olive skin tone. I can easily pull off all oranges, terracotta, pinks, peaches, off-reds and red-browns and they do not even look that warm on me. Dirty pinks and peaches actually make me look fresh and they are my go-to colours when I have one drink too many or hours of sleep too few the night before. Also, wear them with blues and petrols rather than neutral clothes - this way the look will be harmonious.

I always thought it was a bit weird that people who have pretty good skin would cover it with a full coverage foundation and concealer and then pack a ton more product as they go. I have acne scarring and dark spots but I typically just stick to a light-medium coverage foundation and then add extra coverage on the problem areas, not the whole face. Everyone has skin issues at some point so please don't feel the need to cover it all up 😊

The full beat was never a good look on me. I agree with your picks except for glowy blushes, they work for me because I dont like highlighter. I think the orange/yellow specifically really popped on you, I’d like to see you try some more with those! Maybe a 1-2 shadow look with a yellow and some winged liner? I agree with you for most of these. Full coverage foundation almost never looks good in person (though it makes sense if they are being photographed). I'm actually going to go a step further and say that most people can go without foundation even if they're wearing bold makeup. Concealer can cover a lot if used properly. As for glowy blush, it depends on the shade. I had a neutral matte blush that I loved and could wear with a lot of makeup looks. Later on I picked up a glowy blush that was exactly the shade as the matte blush, thinking I was going to love it, and was told that I looked like I had a rash on my cheeks 😭

I totally agree with your opinion on black eyeliner. I always wondered why I don't look good with a black liner although I have high contrast features. It's because the black liner just adds more contrast to my face which makes the overall look of my face very harsh. Once I switched to brow eyeliner I even stopped wearing mascara on a daily bc it would makeup my dark and thick eyelashes pop and overall it gave a very soft and harmonious look to my face.

THANK YOU! I feel like everyone raves about black liquid liner but no one mentions you need to have top notch eye liner skills to make it work. I think to start off with a liner and they are a beginner level make up - gel liner or pencil liner are much more forgiving. And I've recently purchased brown liquid liner and I am so much happier with it because it is a brown and looks much softer on the eye and yet still defines my eyes (I am fair with blonde hair and blue eyes).

I love both matte and glowy blushes depending on my mood!! I think glowy blushes make you look a lot more youthful in my opinion! Agree on the foundation coverage then go in with concealer for spots and blemishes!!

Lol I probably did all of these several years ago! As I’ve aged (now in my early 40s) I find that letting my skin show makes me look younger. And while i love glowy blush, it tends to accentuate texture on me so I have been switching to cream blushes and I love them so much more! As with the light coverage, cream blus keeps the glowyness on my cheeks and gives me a healthy, youthful flush that powder just doesn’t anymore. I have gotten back into liquid liner after not wearing it for years, and the glossier one i tried is black, but it is such a soft black that its almost closer to a brown and i find it more flattering than a super opaque deep black. I’m enjoying it :) It sure is interesting how our tastes change over the years!

I love glowy blushes, I'm really into the glass skin look so any face product I use needs to have at least a satin sheen, otherwise it looks too matte compared to the rest of my face. I don't like a sharp dark liner, if I wear a dark wing it's always blown out, but I love a sharp bright metallic eyeliner. I already have pretty long lashes, so I look for volumizing mascaras, but they still need to seperate my lashes and not clump them together, my favorite is Essence Super Curl.

I have oily skin and glowy blush makes me look sweaty by hour 3. I also don’t like full coverage, I think I look so caked and icky because I have oily skin. I like having my imperfections showing, instead of stressing to covering them. I have tiny veins on my cheeks near my mouth, a sheer to light coverage makes them faint enough.

I agree with pink eyeshadows, but sometimes I’m able to find ways to wear them. Well, some pink shades. My favorite sunset eye is with the Modern Renaissance palette. Raw Sienna as transition. Love letter in crease. Antique Bronze on lid. Cyprus umber to deepen outer corners. If it looks too dark, lightly dab Vermeer or Primavera on the very center of antique bronze. Just for a little spotlight, but don’t fully cover it. Raw sienna has enough yellow/orange in it, and live letter has just enough pink/purple, and antique bronze is somewhat neutral making the other “colors” more wearable (in my opinion). My absolute favorite sunsetty looking eye.

I rarely wear black liners. I'm a ginger. I don't do a wing but tight lining it really does make a difference too. I'm middle age and full coverage can add years to your face. It took a while to adjust my thinking . My holy grail are BB and CC creams. One thing I just don't like HIGHLIGHT, especially powder. Subtle is better for me.

I'm totally the same with the "sunset colors"!! I hate those warm yellows,oranges and reds on my cool toned skin, it just looks terrible! I also do not wear pinks because they absolutely make me look tired and ill. I really love these vids every time you make one I totally agree with everything you say! 💖 Oh, I tried the Urban Decay Stay Naked the Flex powder foundation and so far I really like it I've only wore it twice but I've had no issues with it making my dryer skin look bad. Now I think I will try the Bare Mineral's that you like because I enjoyed how quickly I got it on. Thanks for reminding me that I should not just think it wouldn't work for me because I have some dry skin 😘

I feel the way you feel about glowy blush about glowy bronzers. I get into certain lighting and I’m like o h . Lol but I do have an hourglass one that I bring on vacation and I feel like that look is fine, but for day to day it’s not my favorite. I never wear wing liner but mostly bc I don’t know how! I don’t like full coverage either, unless it’s a powder foundation I want it because even “full coverage” powder is kind of medium which is my preference. I think I can pull off any color, but blue is the hardest for me and orange is my least favorite color so I don’t gravitate towards it even though it can be really nice once it’s on.

If you’d like to try a “glowy” blush that can probably change your idea of glowy blushes, then try the Almay Healthy Hue Blushes, I just got some and OMG! They are a game changer! I didn’t even think they were glowy in the pan but once you put them on you realize how glowy blushes are SUPPOSED to look! Just try it, you won’t be sorry.

Super pale girl here. I live for intense, thick and long black liquid liner. Paired with intense eyeshadow normally dark or black eyeshadow, it’s my favourite. It’s my go-to look but I of course love a lighter eye from time to time. 🖤 like a one shadow look with some mascara can look so cute!

I have been preaching the brown eyeliner for years! So much better! Burgundy and dark green look great too on warm toned looks, and dark grey or blue look great on cool toned. I like glowy blushes ok, but very sparingly. No need for them really, just keep loving the mattes, and top with a subtle highlight! So grateful that the matte, full coverage trend is slowing down... I cant even let that stuff touch my dry skin! Also- I am older, and the professionals always say to only use foundation where you need it. So, now I use a small brush and just blend here and there. It just makes color matching that much more important!

I agree with most of your “unpopular opinions!” In regards to the volumizing mascara..I 100% AGREE! I will occasionally buy a mascara that claims to give volume, thinking maybe I’ll like the effect this tome. Then, I find myself using my lash comb or clean wand to get the clumps out or separate my lashes. My ride or die mascara, for length and definition, that I’ve repurchased the most is the Maybelline Eye Waterproof Lash Sensational. I have pretty long lashes but they are very curl resistant so a waterproof mascara is a must. Anyhoo, this mascara gives me that fanned-out look and doesn’t clump my lashes together. I'm shook!! I agree with everything you said! I prefer a burgundy red/wine red so much more than bright reds/oranges... I think it suits my eye colour better. and also I've come to realise it's very difficult to find a matte blush that doesn't have mini particles of shimmer in them... it's very annoying (for me). oh, and lengthening mascaras are my jam too!!

Give me all the volume in my mascara 🙌🏻 I agree with you tho on the pink/orange/red eyeshadow. I hate them on me. They can look gorgeous on others but not me.

I actually think your eye look is stunning! I hear you though on not loving pinks and red on your eyes because I feel the same way. Something about it clashes with my skin tone. But purples and green, all day every day!🤩 Agree with the rest of your opinions too.
