Making an Ecosphere that Constantly Receives Light 24/7

Life in Jars?

Life in Jars?

4 жыл бұрын

In this video I make a natural ecosphere that is illuminated by a light source all day and night. Natural light during the day and artificial light at night. This closed ecosystem in a jar is lit 24 hours a day. What will happen? How does the ecosystem develop?
Enjoy!

@@trixiebewitched really? Last i checked its impossible for a book to make itself. Information doesnt just appear. The same goes for DNA which is literally a book DESIGNED to have all the information needed to create SPECIFICALLY you. Thats not random. Information doesnt just fall from the sky especially extremely specific and perfect coding on how to create something as complex as human life not to mention every other form of life in existence. You think too small.

I often wonder if other animals have the experience of being abducted by aliens when we do things like this. I especially think this when I go collect dragonfly nymphs. At some point later in the summer there are a lot of dragonflies that end up watching me... suspiciously...? Prehistoric animals. Something about them makes me a little fearful, even when they are tiny. Looking forward to seeing your tiny aquatic world develop under magnification.

@@jana31415 The biggest problem is that you HAVE to maintain the pressure from that depth (otherwise most organisms explode). The pressure increases by about 1 atmosphere for EVERY 10 meters of water, so: 30 meter = 4 atm (3 from water + 1 from air). The Challenger Deep depth is 10'994 meters which is = 1'100 atm, and I have no idea what to compare that amount of pressure against.

I can't remember what its called, but you can buy adpters that connect your phone camera and microscope together :). For the time being, position the phone on the microsope lense and lower the phone cameras lighting. Phone cameras are much easier than DSLR when recoring from microscopes. This is how I got all the photographic data for my histology classes :).

Have you heard of Intermediate Disturbance Theory? It's a theory in biology that says the most diverse ecosystems have a medium amount of disturbance. I think about it a lot when I watch your videos because the jars seem really low disturbance which would lead to lower diversity as time goes on.

If you are watering, a jar without a cap in a room where the sun is shining (maybe far from the stove / air conditioner) is supposed to be at least about 20 years old (but it must have gotten something from the environment like bugs fallen in it, and I was digging with a stick soon) you will get something with several layers (there are 7 for sure). 1 - yellowish thick water like jelly. 2 - (wall) I don't know how to describe (not that anyone knows what). 3 - Transparent. 4 - (Wall) like a sponge with small bubbles. 5 - Still transparent. 6 - (To the bottom) like a little mutated fly and there is something tardy I suppose has dropped a stick. 7 - (Bottom) I do not know how to describe it for this I will write that it looks like the inside of an animal but worse. I hope the translation is not too bad
