It is interesting and had a great color. Great pour and the bars look good on the stack. Awesome video brother 👍

You said that but You didn't messed up. Great job 👏👍❤ I like the untouched or uncleaned one

For once I didn’t 🤣. Thank you! Allright, me too

Awesome melt bro! Personally I would have melted the copper first and then added the preheated zinc. I hate melting zinc because it gets sooooo messy but you pulled it off and that brass looks great! Great job and those ingots look awesome next to the rest of them. 👍🏼👊🏼🍻🙂

I tried this method because it should’ve been a clean melt…😅. But I was told this method takes a really long time.. so maybe next time I’ll get it right. Thanks brother!!!😁

Zinc can be so finicky. I like the untouched bars better. I wonder if you can restore the other bar by heating with a torch? Great vid either way!

It sure is. Allright! Glad someone is agreeing with me 🤣. I’m not sure the torch can reach the heat I need it to melt brass. Thanks buddy!!

@SJWCASTING you wouldn't need to melt the bar necessarily, but you might be able to get it hot enough to change the color back. I've done something similar with copper and aluminum bronze, maybe it'll work with home brew brass?

Oh like that. It is possible, I’ll need to take the small piece and try it. If I don’t forget 😅.

Can you make a video about how to make icosahedrite? It would be very interesting!

Making what now?😅 I’ll have to look that up

@@SJWCASTING Icosahedrite is a mineral that consists of an alloy of copper, iron and aluminum (Al63Cu24Fe13) and can form quasicrystals with dodecahedral shapes. It was discovered in a meteorite. In terms of physical properties, in practice it is a kind of extremely non-stick and hard metallic ceramic. Its composition by mass would be approximately (42.97% Al, 38.61% Cu, and 18.42% Fe), although it may vary slightly and will continue to produce icosahedrites with dodecahedral quasicrystals. If you are interested about making it, I can help you with finding phase diagrams and additional info ^^ Although there are no specific guides on how to make it in a smelting oven 😅

Hmm, interesting! But I can’t melt iron with my forges 😔.

I wonder why your brass became heavier after the melt. 1.342kg of Copper and 666g of Zinc became 1.81kg of Brass and 744g of slags because slags is mixed with dust and dirt on its surface plus oxygen enter the metal after heat and pressure meet the metal also if metal is burned.

After the first failed pour, I added some extra copper and zinc. But I forgot to film it😅.
