Loved the acknowledgement of the "hat and coat stands". :-D Maybe you could put together a "hat and coat stand" made playlist with some additional commentary. Don't forget how much people liked the mocked build where the video footage went missing. Also a Dylan play list would be good. He's such a cute cat. Loved the video, hope you're still enjoying making the videos.

Hi mate the desks look great don't they. Nice work. I would have probably done what you said and put full length castor supports on. And maybe also put edging on the front face of the drawer cases so you can't see the ply lamination when you open the drawers. But that doesn't take away anything from your build they still look great

as a former timber merchant I can help re the cupping. Taking the tops inside prior to fitting would have done it there is no stability. Also when fitting wood tops slot the pilot holes in the fixing cleats to allow the screws to move when the top does. It prevents splits and cupping also never glue.Oak is a sod for movement Love your channel and your projects well done mate inspirational.

Looking great, that Oak is going to be trimming your projects until judgement day (or until you spy another office clearance). How are the Hitachi faring against the Makita so far now you've had a chance to play around with them for a bit? Are 90 degree drill adaptors worthwhile and can you recommend a brand (before I go to the cheapest one from ebay as per usual)? Are you going to do a video about your latest exciting annoucement about your job?
@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The Hitachi tools are excellent and I think I prefer them overall to the Makita ones I have but it’s not really an apples to apples comparison because the Hitachi tools I have are the more expensive brushless ones whereas the Makita ones are all the cheapest ones I could buy... Both brands tools are fantastic though aside from a few minor gripes... I keep meaning to do a video comparison but it keeps dropping down the priority list! I’m finishing off a vlog for next week about the day job! 👍 quality of life has already improved loads! Thank you

Mate those hatstands! You pulled them out again on purpose didn’t you? What are you going to do for the final send off piece.? You need to come up with a special final project. Maybe some wedge shaped door jams .............. Not going to lie, I’ll miss them when they’re gone . Maybe laminate the scraps to form a single sign for the shop, but with the Keith Brown logo. Kind of like a transition from the old to the new.

Nice one Keith, another great build. Q: what caused the cupping?
@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 6 жыл бұрын
I think because they probably went from being stored in a cold warehouse somewhere to a warm house so they dried out slightly unevenly which caused them to cup

I hope you meant that the food-safe wax was a blend of wax and mineral OIL (NOT mineral SPIRITS). I guess if you blended wax and mineral spirits that the mineral spirits would mostly evaporate, but I still would not want to eat food from it.

I’m noticing that you are using a Hitachi drill here, and on other uploads. Would you recommend that brand Keith? I’ve got a Hitachi drill driver that is only 1.5 amp/hr battery The whole package with charger was only about £100. It was supplied with. Two batteries but one of them stopped accepting a charge just out of warranty and the other doesn’t hold a charge for very long! Maybe the model that I purchased (from B n Q ) on a discounted offer was just a crappy discontinued model!! Want to get a new drill driver but wondered if you have a recommendation? Keep up the good work.
@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I would recommend Hitachi. I’ve only used the one drill if there’s though and it’s quite a high end, brushless one. It was sent to me by Hitachi so I didn’t buy it. In my experience all of the “trade” grade tools are great. Cheap ones will generally be fine too but probably won’t last as long and tend to be quite noisy. Batteries don’t survive cold weather very well so best to bring them in the house when you’re not using hem during the winter 👍
