I've been keeping up with your classroom and living through that library. It's so perfect, and your kids are going to LOVE it! Also, I've been postponing ordering the white shiplap for my front door but I really need to because yours is everything! I love how sweet and genuine you are, and was so surprised at the end!!! ♡

Please read Harry Potter!! I think you’d enjoy it more now that you’re older if you didn’t like it when you were younger. Even though there’s magic and it is in a fantasy world, I would say a lot of it is realistic fiction because it’s mainly about friendship, love, and overcoming hardships.

Another thing you can do is have a birthday book bin and on the birthday of your students, they can bring in a book to donate that they no longer read, write a note inside with their picture in it. It's a cute way to start collecting books over the years and in the future you will have books in your classroom donated by past students. When they bring the book in you can have them give a quick synopsis about the book, and why they chose to bring it in!

Probably going to have a million and a half comments for you since I'm not even halfway through the video but going into my second year of teaching here are some comments/recommendations: - Buy multiple copies of the first/second Harry Potter books because they're pretty popular among fourth graders and they might not get past the first couple of books in a year - My READ letters constantly fall off of my shelves so if possible I'd hang them on the wall behind them - my favorite storage bins for supplies are the same ones pocketful of primary gets from target you've just got to catch them on sale!

The kids would love Harry Potter. Even if you don't read them, you should make them available if you can. The fact that there are 7 books almost ensures they will real a lot. Once you read one, most people want to read the rest. It really teaches about friendship and overcoming hardship.

Pony pals and Junie b Jones were my favorites when I was young! Quick, good reads. I've never read Harry Potter either. It was really popular when I was in 4th grade and I just couldn't get through the first one. I didn't really learn to love reading until I was in 7th/8th grade.

Oh man I remember reading Harry Potter for the first time in grades 3 and 4. When I was in 4th grade, I was up way past bedtime reading a super suspenseful part in book 6 and my mom burst into the room and took the book away right at the scary part lol! I was always the kid that would get grounded from my books because they were the only thing I loved as a kid. 😂🤓 But for real, Harry Potter is the best. My hubby and I have been reading it to our 6 month old and while she has no idea what’s happening, we’re both stoked about it.

I couldn't get into Harry Potter either. I started to read it during AP Spanish, in Spanish, and that helped a lot. I love other languages, so I can do things in other languages that I cannot do in English. But it just wasn't that appealing to me either. I'm sorry if there are errors, I am visually impaired and it's easier for me to use dictation instead of writing. I also have dyslexia.

Hey there! I’m a 4th grade teacher too! I love that you are building your classroom library. Don’t forget to use the Scholastic book club. As you or your students purchase, you get ‘points’. Then, you can use those points to buy more books for your classroom. Over the years, I’ve really have achieved a pretty good library because of my points, and I’ve bought( with points of course)multiple class sets of novels for my kiddos. Books that always win in my class when I read out loud: The Lemonade War and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Good luck!

I couldn't get into Harry Potter when it first came out either. I recommend listening to the audiobooks on Audible or borrowing them on Overdrive if your public library participates.. Jim Dale narrates and he is amazing! The first time I listened to the entire series, I was so sad when I finished the last book. You can buy mounting putty and use it to keep your read letters from falling over all the time.
