I know it's easy to criticize his parents but I totally understand that migrant mentality around wanting stability for your children after you've taken a huge risk to come to a foreign land. For me, I want my kids to have the freedom and safety net to take risks like this guy.

This is success but @ twice the pay it is only equal to the steady paycheck he left. I doubt it takes less time and he won’t get the paid vacation he used to develop his skills and following. I quit my job to invest but I still have problems getting a mortgage for a small fraction of my NW even though it is less than I made in the past year. He enjoys what he does and has happy customers. That’s the win.

I'm super stoked for this guy (he's living the Asian-American dream: no corporate job and still earning a living), but mastery doesn't happen from a single trip to Italy or other food mecca. I personally would never pay for a private chef without proper training and experience, but he's found a way to leverage social media and an awesome extroverted personality to gain clients.

This episode shows that it’s good to cultivate interests and hobbies on the side that are not only enjoyable, but have the potential to be lucrative. I’m glad things have turned out so well for him. Goes to show that sometimes we have to be more flexible in our thinking, as opportunities could be within our reach, but we just don’t know it as yet.
