It was panned when it was released because the world just wanted action in their superhero movies. It was the depth that the MCU exposed the mainstream movie watcher to that allows people to realizes what comic book fans have known since this movie's release: it's a fantastic representation of Superman. It's not without it's flaws, but those flaw are very minor in comparison to the heart and soul it brought to THE most defining American comic book character ever created.

The CG cameo memory of Christopher Reeves was perfect when Henry Cavill is flying up to the ship to destroy it. I watch this movie a lot. Super fan of the Man of Steel. Am disappointed Henry Cavill will not remain in this role. Seen a sneak peek of him in Black Adam 2 .

Cavill was the perfect modern Supes. And Warner wasted it, and Gunn threw it away. He was in such good shape (and dedicated), he could have played it another 10 years easy. Cavill also carried and took ownership of the responsibility of being Superman to the fans, unlike anyone since Reeve. A sad waste and tragedy by studio morons.

I liked a lot the Superman movies with Christopher Reeve, but didn't like that one that tried to be a Christopher Reeve movie rather than a Superman movie. I loved this one because it is a Superman history, some seem to find it too dark but, to me, the point of Superman is that he is the same strong and honest Kansas man despite the big world being dark, either being a weapon dealer profiting from war in his first comics, to the manipulations from Apokolips or Luthor.

This version is not the Version I saw on DVD. They added extra footage here I never saw before. Like Kal-el being held captive by Zod on his spaceship and Lois being helped by Jor el. This is much better than the headache fest I saw with the overdone Battle scene between Superman and Zod. Must be out takes. I heard that Zack Snyder shot about 4 hours of this film but only used 2.4 hours. Got to see it again soon.

This iteration of zod is honestly my favorite, his comic book character was evil just because but Snyder Zod, he's not evil, he's afraid for his people and will do everything in his power to rebuild his civilization. Even if this means the destruction of another. He doesn't want to co exist with humans because he knows there will be massive conflicts filled with pain and suffering. He ultimately decides that's it's an easier and more viable option to secure his people ans his civilization by wiping out humanity and terraforming earth into krypton. He doesn't kill because he wants to. He kills because he feels he has to.
