Do you ever have an intense emotional reaction that just seems disproportionate to the situation? Does some little thing set you off? And you can’t figure out why?
Do you get anxious, a flash of anger, or an unexplainable feeling of fear? Or do you experience a feeling of “shut down”, exhaustion or withdrawal? When we can’t figure out where these emotions are coming from, sometimes these feelings are related to childhood trauma or unresolved painful experiences from our past. Trauma changes our nervous system to make us super sensitive to situations that in any way remind us of the pain or danger of our past trauma.
But when we can’t identify what’s underneath those emotions, we often feel out of control in our own life. In this video you’ll learn 7 journaling prompts to help you explore how big emotions might be related to past trauma. And you’ll hear about a man who’s fear of flying mostly went away when he did this work. Let’s get better at feeling.
Journaling prompts for mental health can help you work through big emotions and trauma, it can help you clarify why you feel the way you do. Trauma triggers can really impact your ability to be emotionally healthy. So you can learn to work through them with these journaling prompts.

In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.

in my county , in New Hampshire, we have an excellent facility funded by local, state, federal and private sources, and small co-pays. they r busy, but not totally overwhelmed with patients. (i know that is not the case in many ares) The fees are extremely low, or even free in some cases i’m doing EMDT and DBT there , and they are good at prescribing the proper medications for PTSD, Bipolar, borderline, add, adhd, etc. they are very careful to avoid the crazy expensive meds, when there are far less expensive alternatives. Most prescribers don’t know how to do that. Ash

My period is coming so I get that kind of liberating earth-shattering crying session that lasts 4 hours. Honestly, I would rather cry for four hours every day and then have a mental energy to concentrate, than walk around with all that stuff bottled up and unable to concentrate for longer than there minutes. I would dance some shaman dances if that what it takes to bring in those healing four hour daily crying sessions, but they just wouldn't come

Is it possible to do a video with suggestions for helping family members help someone with severe PTSD when they do become triggered? I understand there would not be a one size fits all suggestion, but maybe something for the different levels? I have a close family member who has been in many wrong place wrong time situations that have led to them having severe PTSD. Non-military, non violent reactions ( at least not in the situations they have been triggered in from my personal experience). It is very scary as a family member and not knowing what the best ways to help them are, or any ways to help them. Especially when they go into that memory and you don't know what it is. At least having some tools to try to help, especially when bringing up going to the hospital makes things worse for them and you are trying to get them to come back on your own.

I’m not really sure how to tell the difference between healing and hardening. I had a trigger recently from someone yelling, and it reminded me of my drunk father yelling at me while I was being forced to sit at the kitchen table and listen to him. I think I resolved it by telling myself if I could survive that upbringing, I can survive some random person raising their voice at me. But I’m not sure if that’s resolved or just a coping skill.
@bittersweetindustryexecutive
@bittersweetindustryexecutive Жыл бұрын
@Vegans in the Wild over 50 Good question! In my personal opinion, you can tell the difference by really feeling in to it. Meaning, if you really have to force your way through it, gnashing your teeth, biting your lip, trying your utmost to supress your 'natural' inclination, then it's probably a coping mechanism. If you, however, are going through it with some degree of calmness, composure, believe that you'll manage and have it under control WITHOUT panicking, having a cold sweat, having the tendency to act out, numb yourself or flee the scene, then it's probably a sign that you've healed. Or at least on your way to fully heal yourself. So, all in all, the difference between coping and healing is, not so much WHAT you do, but HOW you experience it. Coping feels like dealing with a part of you that feels (somewhat) alien to you, thereby envoking a more erratic response. (Which is normal because you'd feel it doesn't really belong to you on a deep level) Whereas healing feels (far) more integrated. Evoking a (far) more measured response, characterized by some sense of calmness, composure. (How much depends on both the severity of the trigger and how much you've healed). Hope this helps you somewhat. By the way, like your username. I had a slight chuckle when reading it. Cheers and all the best to you!✌

Hardening is thinking that your father is yelling at you because you deserve it and you're trying to build a crust around yourself. Healing is when you look at the reality that your father is the one with the problem in that there is nothing wrong with you. No one in life deserves to be yelled at or attack.

I have GAD, and a supportive husband. He's good at walking me through calming exercises etc. But, when I am feeling the most anxious and my nervous system really starts hurting I tell my husband how I'm feeling, and he invariably brings up his ex, the kids' school challenges, and other stressful topics. I end up even more on edge and eventually panic attacks start. I don't know why he does that or how to ask him to stop.

Also, I remember my trauma in school (bullied throughout entire secondary school time from age 5 - at least 14), my dad and mom getting divorced and my dad leaving to England etc .... but for some reason I can't remember a single GOOD thing from my childhood?? It confuses me... did something happen during life at home with my mom that was so traumatic that I completely blacked it out? Or was it just so noneventful that I just pushed it back and the real trauma took the forefront?? My mom and I started fighting really bad once I hit high-school and it's been shifty ever since. She deprived me of the nurturing I desperately needed throughout my teens because I was severely broken and unable to cope with life (she couldn't deal with it). I'd lash out to try and gain her attention and love but all I'd get is a cold shoulder and given a crisis help line. Anyways ..... from what I can recall my relationship with her wasn't always bad it was great before I turned into an angry, drinking, drug using, rebellion in my teens .. is it possible it wasn't actually great growing up and once I got older I finally realized it so that's why I got angry against my mom? Idk. Now I'm just rambling to myself.. I do this constantly in my head trying to fix myself and I've yet to come to any conclusions or answers.

@@northernlights27 It sounds a lot like my mom. Her mom had major depression and was never emotionally available. So when I was growing up, my mom was a little distant and never really there for me. If I had big emotions, I got yelled at. When bad things happened, she didn't understand why I didn't tell her. But it was very lonely, despite being in a big family. She's still awkward with affection.

In all transparency, haven't listened to the video at the time of commenting, but I have a question going into the video: What if journaling is triggering? Especially growing up in a house where my journals and other so called "private" journals were always read and used against me. So it's difficult for me to journal or write my deepest feelings down as I keep fearing they'll be read by someone who would then use it against me, or worse, stops loving me because of what's going on in my mind and heart.

Hi, Please tell how to get rid of hurt and angst against someone you thought were your friends, some argument occurs between you both, and you move on and start being friends again , but a few days later you realise they only talk to you when you ask them something and are not interested talking anymore, they have not been talking to you, just responding. for an experiment, you don’t talk to them for a whole day, and guess what they ignored you the whole day, and you find them bonding with someone you used to gossip about, now they are bitching about you with them, making mean comments when they are around , it hurts a lot, how should we address it? should we confront them? which you did previously but still they are continuing to do the same if not more, idk please help

Friends don't treat you the way you described so move on and find new friends. You cannot change them so don't try. Ignore them just the same way they ignore you, if not more so. Could these excessive reactions come from copying what we saw as a child. A parent's way of overreacting most of the time? Thanks for the videos 🙏🏼🫶

1) What do you feel in your body? Describe. 2) What is the earliest age you remember feeling these sensations? 3) Can you create an image of yourself feeling these sensations? What else were you doing or might you have been doing when you felt these sensations? 4) Who else might have been there? 5) Is the current situation in any way similar? 6) Clarify: Are these old feelings accurate for the current situation?

So I'm honestly confused - you said there were 7 prompts and then said "here's 6" - are there 7? if so what's the 7th?

An artist in people pleasing cause common sense was gossiping about your greatness. Saying You're an ancient angel with generational wisdom from your heart. You have that peace in your heart that shines the beauty through your energy. Udagreatest. The sweetest Love for your own heart smiles because your specialness is amazingness. The kind of beauty sparking love in the universe and making the stars go cloud skipping raining abundance. With the highest quality of life's value in your heart. Your thoughts are like magic wishes coming true every day. They say don't be a people pleaser so I master the art of people pleasing ha ha you have been people pleased Ha ha you been people pleased sucker now ask your emotions how do feel. About bashing on the highest vibration tool there is called the Genius Genie Super charged gratitude machine. The fastest within healer over everything Maybe it's time to rename people pleasing to it's right full position As what it is greatness I have ran laps around my history all the way back to a child. Stomping all of my years to start again from a child like nature. There is nothing the past will be teaching me anymore. Mental solution cure is in the future subconscious programs. I don't care if the whole world believes you must play in baby cry me a river on the past. The past solved nothing for me. Creating new thoughts to teach my emotions to blush pretty colors for my heart to get excited. To be clear I ego smash that past with happiness You explore the past only for wisdom so you do not continue to repeat the same failure over and over. Trauma is beaten by the momentum of new thoughts becoming the new habit. Collecting the seconds of time with no distractions takes dominance over all programs becoming the subconscious habits That says I go against 100% on the methods of therapy Meaning cry me a river over past baby childhood crap. Because that method is not healing it is the method to study people's emotions I don't need no degrees To stand by the belief of my heart in knowing the facts to the path of reality healing from within . My anti social that be stopping my heart beat from my nervous system has absolutely nothing to do with the path to curing it. The future has the cure. Meaning Genius Genie Super charged gratitude machine Genius Genie habit creating machine the fastest mindset installer in all the lands Collecting the seconds of time with no distractions Practicing positive complimenting strangers and self genuinely repetitively into the subconscious Called the art of PEOPLE PLEASING To be honest I am beyond dumbfounded in how the world thinks the path of playing in traumatized drama town is the healing path. I would rather burying myself For the betrayal of my heart To go down that path. Oh what I did that already That is why I am extremely passionate against therapy and question if they even know how to install positive mindsets for momentum to happiness. Let's give attention to the past pain so we can collect enough seconds of time with no distractions and creating a ever lasting subconscious mindset that leads to prescription where you better listen like a slave because the degrees to learn the skills over ride your rights and of to a mental health home for your healing. Count me out I got this game all by myself Like warrior dancing on old paradigms Singing I got the wealthiest collection of seconds from no distractions Genius Genie habit creating machine Genius Genie Shadow reactor gps intuition radar with pinpoint accuracy lights ups the dark within sends the ego to play hulk smash The heart say no love for the programs of thoughts and emotions that don't serve the hearts dreams. Resistance against the heart gets no self love for being disrespectful But the heart forgives with love when ego smashed the thoughts and emotions in there right full place For the relentless repetition practice to new thoughts and emotion. Love from the heart pures out effortlessly free flowing abundance. Untill proven otherwise The lion within that be protecting the boundaries Will eat the Therapy game. Might be wise to only bring me solution that start off on the positive road and stays on the positive road. Trying to convince me that I must go to the negative road to reach the positive road to find happiness and to overcome triggers The lion shall bit unapologetically

How are you okay being a member of a homophobic church? Being raised in your church is the reason I have trauma, anxiety attacks, and depression--because I was taught that I was doomed to never be allowed to be with the gender I loved and treated horribly by both members of the mormon church and the mormon church itself.
