In this video, Marcus was at the Big House in Macon, GA, where the Allman Brothers Band lived together for a spell. It’s now a museum to the band. He’s actually playing Duane Allman’s ‘57 Goldtop, that Duane famously played on the Layla album. Marcus is the man!

With a voice similar to Janis Joplin in a lot a ways, and his killer guitar playing, he's one of my favorite artists, he's mastered the accompany of his singing by his brilliant use of chords shapes, stabs, single note lines, ect. so much to learn from every song he plays, his timing, touch, and dynamics are spot on, just an awesome player and singer.

Did someone notice the POLICE SIREN in the background when Marcus begins to sing ??? Maybe even when he says the word "pain" ??? This is adding heavy feelings on the song... IMHO. Somehow got a ticket for the Saturday show and got to see the Trio while I had the night off in Baltimore. I’ve been obsessed for years, learned of him while going to Musicians Institute in 2015 but have never been able to see him live yet. Finally got to see him last night and it was as close to a religious experience I’ve ever had. Will not be the last time, but wow I’m still pretty shocked from that experience last night. You’re in for such a treat with full band tonight I wish I could make it 😭

Love Marcus King. He’s got so much potential musically speaking. Marcus was discovered at a very well known Music Store- named Norman Rear guitars in California. He was 18 back then. One of the employees was perplexed by his guitar playing & vocals. Needless to say he opened a You Tube channel & had thousands of viewers. I love El Dorado album. I luckily met him. In Nashville and look forward seeing him in October for my birthday here in New Orleans. He is gonna be playing at The Filmore. Thanks for what you do. Very helpful for guitar students showing which chords to play.

Tons of guys have chops, killer chops, but guys like Marcus, Josh Smith, [Bloomfield(!) decades ago] have vocabularies. Their story-telling with the same 12-notes we all have access to is inimitable. Clapton could just turn blues-phrases inside-,out; that's why he was 'God.' Marcus is in that pantheon of greatness. Only gonna get better...

when you say the 3rd gives us the function . I agree but then explain the theory behind the dominant 7 chord. 1 b3 5 b7. surely that tells us both major and minor pen ( so therefore dorian and mixolydian) also work. the 3rd (for me) dictates( i agree) unless we are dominant

Why are the 6 dislikes even watching Michael P? Marcus King is easily in my top 5 musicians of the 21st Century! I encourage you all to go down the long rabbit hole of youtube videos he has (with various people) - every single one is so good! - Homesick (with Katy Pruitt) - Goodbye Carolina (Jam Van) - with Dan Auerbach: - One Day She's Here - Beautiful stranger - Wildflowers and Wine - No Pain - Sweet Mariona - Tennessee Whiskey (with Dee Adams) - I Won't Be Here - Jealous Man - Superstar - Young Man's Dream - The Well (on Jimmy Kimmel) - Salty - Summertime (with Billy Strings) - and more and more....

Saw him at the 9:30 club a couple years ago. He puts on a killer show. You could tell the crowd was filled with guitar geeks in awe of his skills.
