I grew up with parents who were financially irresponsible. A lot of times we had to wait for things like shoes and jackets etc. It’s created an unhealthy relationship with things for me in the past. I over compensate for my kids and their needs so they don’t ever feel like they’re lacking. We’ve had to scale back and as I teach them, I teach myself as well, all our needs are met. We only buy things we need. It’s ok to acknowledge we’ve been irresponsible and bought too much. In the future we will do better. Clutter causes me so much stress, yet I’m usually the only who introduces the new items to our home. Life is complicated but I’m thankful for videos like this that remind me why I’m choosing simple, slow living.

Love it’ “ Simple, slow living”. Our scociety puts so much pressure on us. If you are not busy every single second of your day it feels wrong. I am learning how to slow down and not have my kids in 10 afterschool activities, because it causes anxiety for me and my children.

I had to unlearn a lot too in my adulthood. I'm the same way, clutter and mess stress me out so badly! I wanted a solution so that's how I got here...and I just want to keep learning and evolving because of what I've experienced. Life is complicated, but gosh we're so capable of changing our cards. Thanks for sharing this

Sounds a lot like me, I am dealing with the same problems and that means I have to declutter and recover from my hoarding. I am working on it for 3 years now and was making really good progress, almost down ro only what we need and use. Now my mother-in-law died and we have to take care for her stuff also. I feel like the last 3 years were just exercising for the big mess we are in right now 🙈but I keep going as good as I can and hope it will get better soon 🙏🏻😪

I am a 61-year-old woman that loves decorating. I have my entire adult life. So consequently I have duplicates, triplicates and quadruples of many of the same thing just slightly different. After watching your channel I decided that I would take the extras of my front porch decorations, some I’ve had for 30 years, and decorate some of the neighbors front porches! I’m not sure who is more excited myself or my neighbors. It is so awesome to look out my front window and see my old beloved decorations being utilized by my neighbors. I feel truly blessed having so many extras and being able to share them. Thank you for teaching us the simple and true meaning of life.

That’s cool. I’d love to be your neighbor 😆 I hated decorations and thought of them as clutter UNTIL I realized my little daughters LOVE them and feel more at home when our home is decorated seasonally. A neighbor offering to decorate the porch is such a sweet gesture. Some neighbors may not like it but most probably would!!

Your channel is my FAVORITE! It exudes such calm and peace and intentionality, especially because you always point life back to how it’s all about living wholeheartedly for Jesus! In Him we live and move and have our being-He’s why we are forever grateful and forever content in Him. Bless you, Sis in Christ. 😊💗🙏

I am loving decluttering my house and cleaning out. I have not missed ONE THING we have sold or donated. I am so appreciative to Dawn from The Minimal Mom for sparking this in me. I love the phone idea. I should start putting mine on silent when I am home. I need to go in and delete contacts. I am working on getting the photos off the phone too.

I love the notion of writing down needs and wants. We as a society have become so absorbed with instant gratification, and delaying those needs is such a great idea! It helps in so many ways, with budgets, entitlement, helping give ideas for people for gift giving... I am going to work on that for the rest of this season. Thank you

I have used the list system for a long time. I also have lists for my husband and rest of my family so that I can gift intentionally as well. I find too that sometimes when I review my want list that things I have listed I no longer want to have. I am working at developing a better schedule to fit in things that are healthier for me such as journaling, bible, tea time and stretching/yoga and a 30 minute walk. I need those things for myself but I am struggling to get them to fit into my day. It’s hit and miss more than I like😕so happy to see your video today and just as excited for the next one. Thank you!

I felt led recently to look up what the Bible means to "die to self" and find this fits so well with it - while tI don't believe there is anything inherently wrong with consuming some things of this world that we actually need (as well as having some wants as well!) - when we overconsume anything, we start to make things of this world more than what they were ever intended to be - we miss out on all the wonderful things that a true and close relationship with God can be , as well as knowing that the most important job as a parent is to get our children there as well (PS if you have never read Scared Parenting, do!) - I have been so convicted of this recently and have refocused - a simple life makes this possible and so much clearer! Always inspired by you! Hope you are doing well!

Love this! I created a running list on my phone for household/personal needs vs wants. When it comes to the wants- if I delay a purchase a lot of time the desire fades and it saves so much money. It’s instant gratification we’re after. But when it comes to the lists themselves, I feel less like a basket case when it comes to the actual “needs” of everyone and budgeting!

I bought a book with blank pages and started to write a sort of journal with at least one thing I am grateful for, almost every day. I also write my workouts & physiotherapy, what I am reading and a to do list for the day, but try to write only 3 things to do on it. It all started because of you and the inspiration you gave me with your beautiful videos! Thank You 🙏 My mornings now starts, after walking the dog (🥶), with candle light and my gratitude and that includes you sweet Margaret ❤️
