Marine Engine Exhaust Design is not a simple matter as there is so much to take into consideration such as water level, raw water mixing height and Exhaust muffler and siphoning issues. An extra $3000Aussie dollars to sort this one but, beware , everything to do with Marine Engines is super expensive.

Bulk head fittings for the wiring and tubing that goes through the bulkheads you can drill them a little larger if they are too small and then use rubber ferrules to seal . They will not be good for pressure specs but will seal excellently and look beautiful. I have always used 316 SS or monel but I would think even plastic type would be good for this application and much cheaper. Get er done !

Another step closer Ross. Just looking at the conversions and 0000 is equivalent to 120mm2 which you can obtain pretty easily in Oz for $55/m. From what I've seen the best way to join batteries to your system is to have equal length cables from each battery back to a common busbar or terminal post. This ensures all batteries are used equally if my understanding is correct. You'll probably be fine for the short-term, but it may be worthwhile considering down the road.

5:12 true, but you should borrow a torque wrench in the right range and check the major bolts. Just saying. I was talking the other day with a friend of mine who works with a big chain of heavy duty equipment distribution and their bosses basically told them to start checking engines and power trains, something he said was the first time that'd been implemented in their outfit. Won't name names, i don't want to get my friend in trouble, but we're talking about a pretty big house name in the industry, one myself i had never put to question when i'd gotten new equipment from them before. Apparently we live in an age where CEOs have cut every corner that could be cut, wound up making circles out of the production and now they've started cutting from the center, sending production line tasks to us, the purchasers. An unpleasant thing for sure if it isn't a case of a bad production line spooking my friend's bosses.

Another great vid mate! I had wondered with the lithium whether the purpose of the sealed box is to be able to flood them with cooling water (in the case of a battery overheating) without then flooding the boat. Otherwise, I just can’t fathom a reason for the new requirement!

iTECH200 it says 250 amp discharge or 1.25C. IT will not let your inverter go over 3000 watts. inverters even 3kw ones can spike to 5kw with loads and that will not be possible how your batteries are hooked up now (parallel aka Daisy chain). Connecting each battery to a busbar would allow spikes up to 12 kw even though your inverter would never allow that. I just want to help do it correctly.
@LifeOnTheHulls
@LifeOnTheHulls Жыл бұрын
Batteries are connected through the lynx distribution bus bar 1000amp shunt prior to inverter as per victrons instructions with 4/0 Awg cable.
@dc1544
@dc1544 Жыл бұрын
Running your 12 volt batteries in parallel (daisy chain) means the whole load goes through every battery. Causes more heat loss and higher C rating and lowers your cycle count life. If you connect each one to a busbar then it would mean each battery would take 25% of the load which causes less heat and will extend your cycle life a lot. Many manufacturers do this so you will buy batteries sooner so they will make more money. That is not the correct way. if you use 5000 watts from your inverter that is 417 amps that is over 2C rating. if you connect those 4 to a busbar each would be using .5C roughly. Lithium in lifepo4 cells break down from heat and high loads much faster. I did a ton of research on this before I setup my home battery system for solar and off grid use.
@LifeOnTheHulls
@LifeOnTheHulls Жыл бұрын
Batteries are linked to 1000amp busbars prior to inverter.All loads pass through this system prior to inverter and dc distribution.I followed rhe vixtron set up guide implicitly. Interesting to see that point though.Ross
@dc1544
@dc1544 Жыл бұрын
@@LifeOnTheHulls good you changed it.
@dc1544
@dc1544 Жыл бұрын
@@LifeOnTheHulls That still does not change how many amps your batteries can put out in parallel. you are jumping each battery together then to your Victron busbar. each battery needs to be connected separately to that busbar.

Definately,such a disparity between marine and commercial.
@aserta
@aserta Жыл бұрын
@@LifeOnTheHulls The disparity is them being greedy. Based on some pretty heavy economics voices, people who have been in the trade for half a century, some even more, the recent events and greedonomics might just break the camel's back. Either we come out of this worse, or better... hopefully, and one area that needs some verge trimming is marine. The prices they practice are absurd. I do home restorations, sometimes we have castings that far outtake that riser from both a material and complexity stand point and they never reach that kind of a price even when you consider the far lower number of items. In the middle of the lockouts, we were still working out little details on a 1700's house for a client. We had a run ordered of 400 or so intricate brass pieces and proportionally, it makes that rise seem like it's made out of pure silver. It's just absurd. A few years back, we had to replace an entire chandelier that had been too damaged and modified to be usable anymore. Details, lines, components, 860 euros all in all, for 30 lights and about ~25 kgs. So... a custom ordered item, one of a kind, with motifs galore and details... is cheaper than a computerized production run item? I dislike these kinds of people, like the plague.
