No he IS THE BEST pure passing QB the league has EVER seen,go back and watch this man in his prime,no one threw a prettier pass or a quicker pass and his career is kinda a tale of 2 careers,in all honesty as great a HC as DON SHULA was,I wish he retired about 5 or 6 yrs sooner cuz JJ brought in a D with him IMMEDIATELY,there was a difference from gm 1 but by then Marino was in the last few yrs of his career,the phins were a bad team 86-89 and those were ALL his prime yrs,SHULA just took too long in trying to get a D and even when they had some semblance of one in 90,then Marino didn't have enough weapons to go toe to toe with the Bills,BUT...the one gm I have to ask WTF happened was the 92 AFC championship gm against Buffalo in MIAMI and they just never showed in any facet of the gm and that one was DEFINITELY his last best shot at getting back to the SB but if only he would have had that JJ Defense of the late 90's and early 00's in the 80's or even the early 90's he would have at least had a much better chance!!

One HUGE factor MARINO was doin this shit when QB'S were treated like actual FOOTBALL PLAYERS,when D's could ABSOLUTELY level the passer!!NOW u got officials LITERALLY having the balls to tell Defensive guys dont hit the QB AKA BRADY!!they have ruined the gm,D's can no longer play real Defense cuz they got worry about hitting,all started with Brady and that F'N tuck rule,his WHOLE career should have an asterisk,dk WTF Robert Kraft is or Tom Brady or Billicheck but its been a disgrace to the league for 2 decades now,I'll be glad when Bradys gone and I dont feel that way about Montana,Young,Manning,Elway etc...I have respect for these guys even if not a fan of them but not TOM BRADY,there was way more under the surface of this orginization and its probably $$$ or power,but its hard to argue even if ur a fan about the last 3 SB wins,just ridiculous!!when u start hearing players say things like they made us take our foot off the gas in the 2nd half and then of course they have to rescind it quickly or its big problems for their career!!the biggest were the 2 before last yrs!!against the falcons I called it at the half,Brady is gonna storm back in the 2nd half and heroically win the SB!!the narrative is crazy and RIDICULOUS!?!?down by like 30 points the falcons with the leagues MVP QB all of a sudden cant do a thing against one of the worst D's in the league that yr,but all of a sudden they turned into the BEARS of 1985!!its one thing for Brady to get hot and start scoring but its the other side that makes it CRAZY!!!and NOT BELIEVABLE AT ALL!!then ya got Russell wilson gettin picked at the goal line cuz he was told to THROW A PASS,mind u with one of the BADDEST smashmouth backs of the last couple decades in MARSHAWN LYNCH!!and u have all ur downs,why would u throw it even once!?!?in the closing seconds of the biggest gm of the yr,thats when I realized the pats are rigged and which means theres gonna be more and more of this and this is no coincidence that the NFL went and got a an entertainment license in 2012 shifting from a sporting license,well the yr seems to fit right in with the recent Pats SB DOMINATION,SAD whats happened to football,who knows I'm sure it was always fake to some extent but now just loik at even the off season,its like a soap opera,follow the draft,FA FRENZY,beating up their girl friends,getting arrested,doin lines in their offices,etc....WORSE than EVER!!

Yeah, the year before this game, Peyton's rookie year, the Colts went out to SF and played Steve Young and the Niners. Colts ended up being a 3-13 team that year, but they looked good in that game with Manning hitting on all cylinders, and the Colts dominated for most of the game. Typical Steve Young fashion, he led a comeback and the Niners won, but Verne Lundquist, who was calling the game made the comment about Manning "Folks, this is the future of the NFL, keep an eye out for Peyton Manning for years to come" Talk about being a weird one to hear these days!!

I remember watching this game. It’s the last great game of Dan Marino’s career. Also at the 10:38 mark the Dolphins did not convert the third down, and coach Jimmy Johnson made the best call of the game. The best call of the game: It was 4th & short, and instead of going for it he instead took the points, making it 31-25. It’s why they were able to win the game. I see coaches now always going for it, instead of kicking a field goal. Always take the points.
@Dudemandudeman195 жыл бұрын
They were 9 points down. 2 scores no matter what. Even scoring a touchdown wouldn't have tied the game. Doesn't really correlate to the increased attempts on 4th down in the modern game.

Also have to take into account this is the 90s, when defenses had quite a bit more control over the game than nowadays. I dont think people appreciate Marino like they should. God damn he had a cannon for an arm. Marino might have the best pure arm strength of all time. He could zip a pass 40 yards down the seem with bullet accuracy. That deep ball at the end was crazy too.
@stevep84455 жыл бұрын
Marino's final season. As a Dolphin fan it was truly awful watching him struggle. His arm was shot, actually shot the last couple years. He was injured and only played 11 games. He did lead a comeback vs the Seahawks, but then ended his career with that awful 62-7 thrashing by the Jags, (Interesting note: Jay Fiedler, the QB for Miami the following season, played in a mop up role for the Jags in that game. ) Damon Huard went 4-1 as a starter, and probably should have been starter the rest of the way...

Crazy thing is even old Marino led them to a divisional-round game. Dolphins did that once the year after with Fiedler in 2000 and sadly have never done it again

@@Nerd0208 Yep, and what happened to the AFC East?! Dolphins, Colts, Jets were all good for a few years at the same time, and the Patriots sucked for those few years. After the realignment in 2002, it was like a immediate turnaround where the rest all have sucked for years while the Pats dominate

@mattjohnson6606 Lol No. mahomes is NOT on the level of Marino. Only one that might be in terms of pure passing ability is Allen. Burrow has that clever ability and is VERY good under pressure in the clutch. But as far as sheer velocity and arm strength… Allen is VERY close to prime Dan
