I had an adult friend like this, nothing really scandalous like that(although it wouldn't surprise me if she did when she was in highschool). Still she burnt everyone around her with her lies that could've cause a police and CPS investigation. She's no longer in anyone's life here, lost her job at our apartment complex for it on top of stealing rent money. She has a record for it and probably isn't able to work anywhere that involves money. She stole small amounts over time and probably stole more than we think. They always act like best friends with their victims. She admitted the reason to my partner too she liked to watch the fallout, it was thrilling to be that cause of braking relationships and people.

Unfortunately people whose temperaments naturally veer towards the passive, conflict avoiding and people pleasing spectrum will often attract “strong” domineering, controlling personalities like her ex friend. Manipulative people who exploit others seem to have an excellent radar for finding and targeting vulnerable (it may not necessarily be a deliberately conscious decision by them). It sounds like OP has a history of a somewhat turbulent, unstable home life so she is probably finding it extra challenging to give up the familiar constant of a long term friend with the situation being exacerbated by her friend’s frequent attempts to isolate her from others. Similar to getting out of a bad, toxic romantic relationship sometimes it can take time to break free from the effects of the emotional and psychological harm they have inflicted and the intense feelings of loss make it difficult to think clearly. It’s only with some distance, when the intense emotions have settled and you have built a life and routine that doesn’t involve them that you are finally able to look back and truly recognise how toxic, damaging and unacceptable their behaviour towards you really was.

Story 2: My question about is: why are no parents involved? I keep seeing this, but what could the brothers do? Story 2: Op's brothers, at least one of them, should've stepped up and ended all of this. As far as confronting her, it could've even been through one of her social media, but all the brothers should have shot that thing down immediately. I like comments were mentioning how she a minor and the brothers are 20+. Unless the brothers are actually grooming her(which would make this story much worse, especially with Op being the only one objecting to it), people should be able to take into account that she's competent enough to know the following things that are wrong in her actions: age of consent, boundaries, gaslighting, falsifying reports of abuse and so on. The fact that Op was the only one speaking up about this, makes me question the brothers look on this. With as deep of a story the friend was making it out to be, one of them should've have that itching feeling of "ok this is getting out of hand", on top of the fact of how uncomfortable Op was feeling.

he lives with his parents and makes $18 an hour but he can't afford anything. BTW, you say he is a great guy. Girl, he is long distance. I doubt if you lived together he would be cleaning up after himself. Also, I highly doubt much of what he is saying is true. I mean he is stalling on visiting. He could be seeing someone else. He could have a kid. He could be married. You just don't know when you are that far apart and never see each other.

Pezheadx Is completely wrong in this situation when people are saying set the story straight? They're not saying go to the high school and talk to the kids. They're saying go to the high school and talk to the adults that are in charge of these children. Because this behavior could land them in jail. Just wanted to get it that off my chest. Wanting to resolve issues doesn't make someone a child just because you can't think of a mature way of doing it.

Remember police and most people in general don’t believe that men can be harassed so this is a hard situation for the brothers to approach.

S2. Stop being so naive and OP needs to really shut her down properly not just stick her head in the sand. It achieves nothing. Address the issue with frenemy and an adult in authority like guidance counsellor or her parents. Get the older brothers help because this will impact on them as well
