I built my own dryer last year, I build live edge tables and repair power tools, I remember working on a saw mill about 40 years ago and the old guy who own the mill came in one week end and painted every moving tool RED, and the log turner was one of the things he painted, never met a log I didn't like, grown and cut in the USA, if anything has happen about covid-19 is that we have learned something, and it is time to start acted on it, Made in the USA we could bring back millions of job back to this country. even in lumber, cut on my friends, wash your hands and stay safe, thanks again for a great vid.

That machine sings now! It was so cool that you cobbled it together and used it before all the repairs so that we can hear the difference between a worn mill & a beautifully rebuilt one. The carriage rides those rails like a new rail car now. It just sounds so smooth. That engine hums too. She sounds like a happy bee. Always a thrill to watch master tradesmen working at their craft. Thanks for a other great video.

Mark, you probably would never get the chance to saw a Ponderosa Pine log, kinda tough when it grows out west, lol but I like all the logs you DO get to saw, that's why I like your videos so much, one of the reasons is because I am so mechanically minded and over curious about a lot of things. You and Eddie are doing a great job. I know I've asked you this before, but I'm in the market for a well built, solid wood 4 or 5 drawer Dresser, most places I've tried all they have is particle board, but I'll keep looking

Mark, the log Turner works really good now, I still wish I could smell the aroma of fresh cut lumber and also the sound of the saw singing, You can hear it slightly, but it's nothing like being there in person to appreciate all the sounds, sights and aromas that go with a sawmill.

You mentioned adding a kiln and a shipping container. Ramp dirt on sides of container to hold the heat leaving front and back accessible for loading and heater hookup lines for fuel, add one of those cast iron radiant tube ceiling heaters like they use in the garden section of almost every Walmart. you can get the burner assembly for about $400 and the tubes about $50 a section and to save money some run on waste oil then add salvaged furnace fans to circulate the air through the lumber stacks. (Kiln on a budget) Add a 500 or 1000 gal oil tank (check your local zoning) and let your neighbors know they can dump waste oil from their cars and you can heat your kiln for free.

Good vid Mark ,. I have an idea about the killem . Have you thought about getting 2 containers , cut the backs out but them together weld them up Yes a tunnel killem , then rollers on the floor and line the sides to prevent the od stick from gaming the pallet in the tunnel . All so using pallets would give you the under flow of hot air escentual for drying timber , Hope this idea helps ,

Hi Mark and T.H.E. and that was some FINE sawing and FINE lumber! Pretty red oak and the bus motor got to burn up some soot if it ever had any! We're fine here and sure hope all yall are too, BUT the whole world is going straight to hell in a hat box, looks like. The worse part is that it's going to get that even if you mind your OWN business, everybody around will HELP you mind yours and snitch on every little thing. Getting goofier by the second. Our son-in-law is the head surveyor on a big development/golf course job and there was a landscaper came in wearing a mask and gloves, trying to see what he needed to do. I'd like to see him do hard labor with that garb on and not vapor lock. Beats all I've EVER witnessed. So yall remain calm and just stay hid. We will and GBWYall! Thanks Mark (And THEY Eddie) Looks like the log turner is starting to hold its own again. If you have any trouble finding a 40 container, let me know. I have a source that is up North of Pittsburgh on I-79 that can hook you right up,and deliver without a problem. Yes, a little oak sawing did help this cold afternoon. 70°and sunny one minute and 38° and snowing the next, Baaaaahhhhh... I'm ready for warmer weather. And some social distancing Turkey Hunting.

Is there a location on the bus motor for you to add a hydraulic pump to power the sawdust blower? Seems like it would be better to utilize the bus motor for power instead of buying gasoline plus now that the wall hides the sawdust blower you wouldn't really know when blower runs out of fuel. Or can you add to the hydraulic pump that already exists to power the blower? Merely trying to possibly improve the ole bus motor sawmill. Cheers!

I just can't wait for the next video you make. I saw on another site that they had a saw very similar to yours, but it also contained a vertical cutter that allowed them to cut board vertically before they ran it through the horizontal saw blade. They ended up with a board without the bark. It was between the controller and the loading rack. Is this available for your saw?

I have worked at a few sawmill's during my younger year's , such as J.W.Porta & Son's Heyfield , Victoria , Australia - Cabbage Tree Creek Sawmill near Orbost Vctoria , Australia & Brodrib Automatic Sawmill Orbost , it's not a job for the faint hearted in the Hardwood Forests ,as most of the people are rough & rugged here is Aussie ..... I did about five year's of it although my full time job was with the Australian Army , when I was on leave that's when I decided that I was lacking the ruggedness of the outdoor's , so I got my gear together put it all on my Kawasaki 900 & went looking for an adventure !!

@@Builder99 Yes cobber it was an adventure , I was bought up in a semi = rural area , so when I left school I took on a job as a Dairyhand on a farm , from there I got a job with a Forestery Company & learnt about different types of tree's that grow in certain area's of Victoria , I stayed in that job for 5 year's then tried my hand at working on the railway , but wasn't suited to working in the City , so i gave it up & went back to the bush , anyway the rest is what I wrote last time , in my life so far I have had plenty to do & I am happy to just sit back now and look at the life I had when I was younger !!
