"A mistake is only a mistake if you make it twice". I really like this. Else, with something good (like investing), you will stop after having lost some money for the first time. But, in principle, it is a good thing, and you should keep at it. You just need to learn from it. For example, earlier this year I went in relatively heavy on crypto (when everybody else was as well). It then fell out of the sky... I could have stopped and said it is ridiculous to invest in it. But I really think it has potential, although it is risky. This time, I am selling when others are greedy, and I am going to buy when others are fearful. Thanks, Mr Tilbury! Your advice gets my head tikking!

Financial advise: don’t waste your time and money on college, do not have children, you’re ready to buy first house when you have $125k in fiat, don’t buy a Land Rover until you’re a land lord.

For the first advice, I always knew I might buy twice when I`m buying the cheap ones. Because I know if it`s the first time I have it, I`ll probably break it due to lack of familiarity. So it`s actually a good idea do go for the cheaper ones at first and see if I really need it. Then go for a good one, or never buy again.

I’m really surprised that you didn’t have the worst of them all on this list; a brand new car. Once you start making some real money in your 20s, the urge to reward yourself and join the “adults” with your own brand new car purchase, can be huge. In your 20s you likely won’t have the cash to buy a car outright, which means you’ll be financing for years and spending all your money on a super expensive object that you’ll like less and less as time goes on. Take the bus, ride a bike, drive that beat up old car that grandma sold you for $100, anything to avoid getting trapped by the purchase of a new car.
@marktilbury3 жыл бұрын
Hi, that’s a very good call, there are so many money traps when you are young , my advice is to live like a student at home for as long as you can, no one expects you to have money. Great comment MT 😎

I am on the fence on a new car personally, I fully understand it is a bad financial idea, however I am treating it as me being an active guy and want a car I can occasionally sleep in and capable enough to carry my gear and get to trail heads off the beaten path. So I am still doing research and see what the best option for me personally is. Money is important, experiences are important too and I value them at the same level if I will be honest, stories to tell the grandkids and pictures to look back on fondly.
@ivanvargas11633 жыл бұрын
Not sure if that would be that bad (due to the situation) according to the country that You're living in. at least in the southamerican markets 2nd hand cars are really expensive right now, most of them maltreated, so You'll have to visit your mechanic quite soon. The real question is "do I really need a car?" (in my opinion.. if yes, because of work and you can get profit from it go ahead)

Another great one is getting a fancy car. It's easy to get lucky in the stock market, or land a larger than normal sale in your business. The last thing you want to do however, is fork it all out in a massively depreciating asset, or even worse... Finance it. Have a friend that worked and worked only to spend 75K AUD on a car. Took him 4 years to work his way up to it.

It's great to go out to eat from time to time and appreciate the experience, but some people don't realize how much money they could save from cooking at home more. Re: Don't Buy Cheap Goods If you don't have a lot of money, here's how I get affordable prices without getting cheap products. 1. What do you NEED? Example, I needed a laptop this month. Laptops are super expensive, but I need a good quality one for my work. So I used all of these techniques buying it. 2. Scope the MARKET. What do current specs on laptops look like? What is the best quality out there, and how expensive is it? What doe the best laptops on the market have? The more high-budget features you can get on your lower budget, the better. 3. What is your BUDGET? Set a range from ideal to stretch based on the average price for your item. The average price for the laptops I looked at were $1-2k. My ideal budget was under $1000, but I could stretch up to $1100. I've been saving for this for over a year. 4. Shop SALES. When is the next large sale? I lucked out since my state's tax free weekend and back to school sales were happening just about 10 days after my past laptop died for good. I organized a way to work without it until then, though it's ideal if you can shop BEFORE the old item completely wears out lol. 5. Price check EVERYWHERE (reputable). If the website is reputable, check their prices, upcoming specials/sales, and coupons. Many websites will have different prices from one another. Don't forget to factor in shipping costs if you are having the item delivered or gas if you are picking it up! 7. Is USED worth it? Some items, like clothing, can be bought from thrift shops or otherwise used sources. Some items, like laptops in my case, are more iffy. I could have gotten a refurbished laptop, but it would have been of date faster and had worse specs. I decided not to buy used. 8. Ask EXPERTS before purchasing. I went to a computer repair shop and asked if the model I had picked was a good one. Thank god I did, because she told me it was NOT! If you can't find someone irl to ask, try online groups like those on Reddit and Facebook. EXTRA TIP: If you are purchasing an item you've never tried before (I bought jeans this way due to sensory issues), buy the mega cheap one first. If you use it enough that it breaks, you know for a fact that you need the item. (The cheap jeans ripped in the crotch, and I felt sad. That's how I knew I needed to look into pricier pairs.) At that point, you can confidently go through the steps to purchase a better quality product. (I bought $60 specialty sized jeans for $20 about 2 months later and still love them 2 years on!). Great places to get these cheap test products are Five Below, Family Dollar, thrift stores, and of course Amazon. Hope this helps some people! I don't make a lot of money and am so tempted to buy from Wish and other cheap sites to save money. But once you find out how to shop smart, you can get deals almost as good and sometimes better than Wish!

I'm turning 30 and I've passed the million dollar mark. I got a house instead of going to expensive college at 18 and rented it out from day 1. I lived home with my parents and went to community school so I still got an education. I lived frugally. No expensive cars or clothes. I worked while I was in college and then started my career in insurance. My tenant paid my mortgage down and I took all the money I made and applied additional principal every month without fail. I paid that house off two years ago now and now I'm living in my second one. I'm now saving for my third home and doing well in my career. Moral - live conservatively and if you are young and have made money in this current stock market bubble, remember. Nothing comes without hard work and things don't last forever. Rely on the guarantees not the what-ifs. Have money set aside for a rainy day.

Hi Eddie, it does happen but I can not control the ads. You know what to do. Thanks for watching MT 😎

$10,000 on a website? That is extremely expensive even for today's standards.

Number 5, that was my mistake. I fell into the trap of thinking that there could be a method to regularly earn through betting.... Will never bet on anything again

Not sure how you made your money or if you even have it after googling you but thanks for the really obvious tips.

When I was a little kid I wanted an expensive electric water gun so I bought it right away with the little money that I had. I regretted it pretty soon since it made only a tiny water stream. Now I always think about and research a significant purchase for days to even months before I finally buy it and I don't regret anything I buy :)
