🎥Street Food in Tibet - Ultimate Tibetan Food Tour: • Street Food in Tibet -...
👕T-shirts and caps: migrationology.com/store/
Thank you to www.travelchinatibet.com/ for hosting me on my trip to Tibet!
Today we had the honor of going to a local Tibetan family home for an outstanding traditional, and special Tibetan food meal. It was not only a chance to try Tibetan foods that are not typically available at a restaurant, but a total learning experience about Tibetan food and culture. #Tibet #Lhasa #TibetanFood
After arriving to the family home we first enjoyed some Tibetan butter tea and snacks, and then proceeded to the kitchen to start cooking. I loved the decoration and style of Tibetan homes, so warm, cozy, and welcoming.
Some of the main Tibetan food they prepared were yak and cheese momos, fried potato momos, soup with yak meatballs, a steamed sheep head, fried mutton with potatoes and onions, ginseng fruit with sugar and butter, and a number of other impressive Tibetan foods.
The food was delicious and meaty (and very hearty), the setting was gorgeous Tibetan culture, and the hospitality stood out among everything. What an outstanding day in Lhasa, Tibet!
Thank you to Travel China & Tibet (www.travelchinatibet.com/), they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet.

Hospitality, interior design and cuisine of astonishing variety and variety Bravo ... and this feeling we have for the Tibetans is as touching as their welcome and their hospitality! Thanks to Mark for making this possible!

My best friend Tenzin was from Tibet. Dinners with her lovely family were some of my favorite childhood memories! My young mind was amazed to see how different the food was from what I was used to! It was amazing to learn about the variety of the dishes, and the different flavors! My mom says I would want to go over there every night for dinner. Now as an adult, so many Tibetan dishes are pure comfort food for me. I’m so thankful for that influence as a child.

I hesitated before posting this comment, but I cant "not post it": Mark, no matter where you are travelling or reporting from - I really love your videos and your attitude. The way you enjoy the food and how you share your experiences with us. It feels like we are there with you, enjoying the food, smelling it, which is really great. I am very lucky to be able to travel a lot myself, but many people are not that lucky, and thanks to you, they can "travel" virtually , which is amazing. Also, you are always very respectful of local culture, people, other religions etc. Always smiling, honest, friendly, respectul and non judgemental and the world honestly needs more people like you. Dont get me wrong - I love Tibet, I very much like Tibetan food like Momos and Thukpa, and I have met wonderful Tibetan people, in Tibet, in other areas of China, in Nepal, in India and Switzerland. But Tibet is not the paradise you make it sound like. Really horrible human rights abuses have been happening there since many years, and are still going on. Tibetan culture is often supressed, or kept mostly for touristic purposes. Freedom of speech and religion are none excisting. I know this is a forum about food, so I fully understand and appreciate that you dont want to talk too much about all those issues. And you have a Chinese run agent as a sponsor, so you can probably not afford to be critical at all. It just bothers me a lot that the picture you paint is very one sided. And people might get really wrong impressions about Tibet. And by the way - the 14th Dalai Lama is in exile in India since 1959. The "real" Panchen Lama is missing and presumed dead (assumed to have been killed) and the "marionette" Panchen Lama is just that - a marionette.

Extremely disappointed in mark for not addressing this. He should have no excuses for this and know better. I cannot believe he partnered with a ccp propaganda group to spread this blatant propaganda. Now china can use this as an excuse to say "see life in tibet is good, no human rights abuses happening". But we all know this is curated by the chinese to look good for western consumers and media and is clear propaganda. I hope the free travel, food or money was worth is mark because you just lost a supporter.

I have been blessed to travel to China twice. Beautiful people, kind, loving. We went to Shangrila to a monastery and saw their beautiful garden of vegetables. At a family's home we had tea, one with yak milk and one plain. It was hot and SALTY. Small pieces of yak cheese, again SALTY! We enjoyed so richly the friendly family with 3 little children. The large house had the animals on the first level. The 2nd level was the family. Not much furnishing but they had a large flat screen TV. The children were so excited to share with us. For school they travel a long way and stay for week and home on weekend. State run school.
