Ever since I’ve seen this rifle online, it became my dream to have it. Sadly it’s hard to find now and way more expensive but I just love the all black on a lever action and the threaded barrel and rail already factory installed. It’s a must have to the Arsenal especially a 30-30 or 45-70.

Ive got a Marlin 336. Bought in 2013. Mine is awesome, accurate. My only complaint is I like a shorter length of pull. I will be buying the "Dark" in the future.

I have a Winchester Model 94 Big Bore in .307 Win. Basically a 308 case with a rim so it can feed and extract in a lever gun. It really packs a punch. Hand loads with open sights I can get 3” at 100 yards. Watched this video because I want a marlin in 45-70. I’d rather have an 18” barrel but the dark comes threaded. Going to put a silencer on it and hand load some really heavy subsonic rounds.

Accuracy is adjusted consistency. There is so much to that simple statement when you start rolling your own. Change your primer, powder, bullet type, bullet weight, c.o.a.l., slow it down, speed it up, more headspace, or maybe less, it goes on and on until you start cutting circles at 100 yds. This is gonna be a lot of fun. I can't wait for you to figure it out.

I just ordered this gun as my first rifle. Mainly because living in California sucks. But more and more I'm really getting excited about taking it to the range.

I think that this is an excellent rifle choice for someone living in California. It would be at the top of my list. Excellent Choice!!!

I used to live in Cali and a lever gun would be my first choice.

When I get groups that bad I check my mounts and rail to make sure they aren't loose.

Thanks for the videos, I'm living in Scotland , but my first rifle was a , .22wm lever action, since then none (bolt action and semis), until now, I am now looking at the M1 45-70 tac for wild boar in Europe . and yes you do have the most videos to date on you tube for this, thank you , and Merry Christmas

Many thanks for the time and effort you put into the Marlin 336 review videos, the information has been very helpful! You seemed to have answered all of the questions I have but one...Have you noticed any issues with rust? I would really appreciate your feedback!

I expected a lot better than that. Thanks for an honest range report.

I hope that I can do some more shooting and get better success in the accuracy department. However, I do notice that the official payed gun reviewers don't seem to be talking specifically about the Marlins accuracy.

@@TheGearTester I've noticed that too! I don't really like my Marlin.

Is Marlin going to get more out so I can buy one?

Have you tried using the Hogdon Leverevolution powder? It’s basically 36.5 gr and you are duplicating the Hornady load. It’s the same powder Hornady uses in their loads. I have had very good results using it. Tight groupings at 100m

I have an old texan. No yelling how much powder and bullets I've wasted trying to match the accuracy of 150 grain federal power shock bullets. They will shoot about a 1.5 inch group from my rifle, and some of my best reloads are going about 2.5".
@TheGearTester4 жыл бұрын
Interesting, Thanks for sharing your experience. What I do know is that both my Marlin 336 lever action rifles are very reliable.

@@TheGearTester mine too. My son won't hunt with anything else. He is a grown man now, but when he was about 13, he shot a nice doe at a guesstimated 200 yards. Went clean through.

What powder brand and load are you using? A 30-30 can shoot 1 moa or less with reloaded shots at 100 yards?

First of all american !!! And great video 👍 very honest with results regards of what comes out and that's speaks lot thank you for that also I think lever guns give you that connection to the western days kind like the single action revolver does and I love western movies well at least that's what I think again great job

Glenfield Model 30 with $40 Weaver scope $10 Weaver rings. Rifle was made in 1970 by JM Marli n. I shot a 1.5 inch group at 100 yards with 150 Grai n Privi. I think You can do better with your rifle.

Personally I cant wait to see what Ruger can do with the Marlin brand....I not happy at all with my Remlin 336W. The Remlin is just not a quality product.

What height/ brand of scope mounts did you use that allows you to clear the rear ghost ring sight?

Trijicon aluminum intermediate height rings.

you need to down load with the levelevolution bullet to the 1900fps or you need to clean your barrel better with the micro grove it fouls ups faster mine shoots 170gain flat nose at a inch or better at 100yrd. i loads some 110gain that i run hotter that shoot 1.5 moa

Forget those Hornandy leverloutins, or even trying to copy them. They aren’t accurate and those bullets suck. They have poor performance on game and the bullets separate on animals. Like the 45/70 30/30 is best used with traditional style bullets
@TheGearTester3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I fear you may be correct!
@treier15893 жыл бұрын
You would have better accuracy if you tried to replicate a better loading. The Hornady stuff is a gimmick. Test loads to find what the gun likes. You will get the accuracy you want.
