For a modern 3.6 Pentastar engine, assuming it's never been dyno tuned. Start with the K&N air intake, then go to Summit racing and pick up a Borla "S" exhaust. It's loud when you want it to be, and quiet when you want it to be. It will use your factory exhaust tips so your exhaust won't fill up with water every time it rains. No Drone and won't wake the neighbors on a cold start. Next, go to Modern Muscle and get a ported throttle body and ported intake manifolds. Then take it to a dyno shop for a tune. The price is about 2,300 dollars for everything without the tune. If you do this you'll get a gain of around 65 - 75 horsepower and run with any R/T 5.7 Hemi. To go the rest of the way, get a Rippmods supercharger and run with the 392 Scat Pack and give Hellcats heart attacks. But that will set you back another 8 grand before it's all said and done.

@@_pao_x2 It depends what you're looking for. The 3.6 will give you on honest 300 - 340 hp with the exhaust and intake kit. That puts you squarely in 5.7 territory. The intake kit will give you 22 and the exhaust will give you another 11. (only 11 because the stock exhaust is pretty good already). Mine put out about 356 because it was special ordered for 310 stock. Most engines put out 292. If you do both, you will notice it. A blower will take it up from there. I get 602 hp@ 22 lbs of boost with the supercharger. The only problem with that is the car can get very dangerous and you have to watch who drives it. But with 118k on it, unless you go through it top to bottom, I don't believe it'll hold up to the supercharger. The rings wouldn't be able to take the higher compression. Mine had 9,000 miles on it when I installed it. Hope this helps. Keep in mind, a supercharger installed will set you back about 12,000 dollars. Top to bottom including the tune. Tuning is a different world, especially depending on the year of your car. Most tuners will charge you about 1,000 dollars for a tune and ongoing care. Supercharged or not.

I don't think that's true. Sure, K&N air chargers are overrated for sure but they are proven to add extra horsepower. That's mostly because the piping from the filter to the throttle body is more direct, smoother, can hold a larger volume of air, and devoid of resonators and baffling. Lots of stock intakes have ribbed pipes, which if anything disrupt airflow, and then lead the air through various 90* turns into different resonator chambers and baffles.

For The 3.6L chargers you will not be able to upgrade or change the Headers. It doesn't have separate exhaust manifolds. The exhaust manifold is cast into the head on each side.

Most of the time the OEM intake will perform way better than any other aftermarket intake. Simply change the filter itself to something like a K&N filter for the original intake, since they do a way better job at keeping hot air out and allow the engine to breathe cold air.

That's not true with a Charger. The K&N kit will give you around 20 and a filter won't even be close.. When you look inside the factory airbox, you'll see why.

60 years of K&N says you're wrong. Their filters have the same restrictions on them in a stock box as the OEM filter does. The box is the problem and only a kit does fix this. I've been using them since 1975. They've always done exactly what they say they'll do. It's an honorable company. My 2018 Charger picked up 22 hp with a kit. One look at the stock box after it was out and you knew why. It was full of baffles and actually went through the body. The K&N kit had no baffles on 5 inch wide smooth pipe. When you look at it; you think you should have gotten more, stock is that bad.

Hardly. The Pentastar has a hardened bottom end already. It was supposed to have twin turbos in 2014 but Dodge never did it. Too good of performance that would obsolete their Hemi's, all of them. Mine has a blower and puts out 602hp@ 22lbs of boost. They couldn't have that.

Yes but it wont be a waste for best cheap results with be porting intake manifold and bowls along with shaving heads for better compression ratios but consider offsets of pressure and wear causing engine failure

Hey everybody here's a mod that's really simple and you don't got to take any course to learn how to do it sorting performance chips remember the name Thornton performance chips they simply plug in to your stock chip underneath your dash and Bam you have anywhere from 20 2:40 to 60 horsepower gains I personally can't see just buying the chip that gives you 20 I went all the way for 60 that's all you do take the old one out from the factory put Thornton in and drive it the chip will handle the rest it reprograms everything from your throttle response air to fuel ratios etc etc go to their site check them out the 60 horsepower chip is only $89.95 why do anything else 60 horses man none of this five 15 stuff that you don't even notice that but if you combine it all up my 3.5 l v6 it's going to be putting out 325 when the chip is in maybe a little more and I don't know about the torque but we're going to find out the chip is on its way read the reviews everybody that has one says they're awesome they do everything that Thornton says they do have fun love my charger

For my neighbors in Commiefornia... - Pay close attention to the fine print on aftermarket Cold Air Intakes. It takes alot of red tape for the manufacturer to get these approved. It can take years. If your car is a recent model, odds are K&N (or whoever) haven't got it approved yet by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Installing an unapproved intake will automatically fail the inspection portion of your smog test. Even if the intake has been approved on an older model car, it must specifically be approved for YOUR model year. - All catback exhaust systems are totally legal. CARB does not regulate exhaust past the catalytic converter. If your exhaust system is unusually loud you may run afoul of noise ordnances. But if you don't go looking for trouble, even a loud exhaust system won't get you ticketed. Note that if all you want is a tone change, it would be literally ten times cheaper just to do a muffler swap or delete. And as Marspeed points out, aftermarket catback exhaust systems come with unreliable performance claims. - Catalytic converter swaps are also rarely approved by the CARB, but this is a case-by-case basis. - Same goes for headers... rarely approved by CARB. But it does happen. Note if you have an SRT 392, I believe you already have shorty headers, so you could swap to long headers, or even swap to different shorty headers, but either way, for this engine, the advantage of swapping is unclear. - I'd also be surprised to see CARB approval for very many aftermarket turbochargers. CARB maintains an online list of every approved aftermarket part that falls under their jurisdiction.
