Wow!.. I love this video..all the detail in the late great Barney’s guitar.. just imagine playing that! I was lucky enough when I was 23 to meet Tal Farlow in Cardiff!! He was playing in a small bar and during the break in sets he let me hold and have a go on his guitar!!.. he had hands the size of dinner plates! What a great guy he was, very friendly. I wish I could also have seen Barney Kessell🙏👍👍👌

I pleased to say that I saw him with that great guitar, in a live concert in ‘84. I remember him as both charming and amusing, as well as being a great jazz player.

Barney also played lead guitar on Rick Nelson's 1st hit record, "I'm Walkin", late 1956. Verve Records

I'm not a big BK fan but I have to say this guitar really has an instantly recognizable sound, still today in someone else"s hands

You are two of my favorites, but Barney was so important to me. I live outside of Washington DC, where Charlie Byrd had a club in the Georgetown section for maybe five years in the early 1980s. That was Charlie’s home base, and he would bring in Barney and Herb as the Great Guitars about twice a year On one of those occasions, my friend Lee and I had the opportunity to speak with Barney for about 30 minutes between sets. We asked whether that guitar was a Gibson. Barney rather acerbically replied that it “used to be a Gibson.” You could still faintly see the Gibson “flower pot” logo on the headstock either rubbed out or painted over. Very notable was that he had replaced the typical round volume and tone controls with knobs from an old radio, so you could tell by feel where one o’clock was. They are very visible in the photos of Barney. I can’t tell - Bruce, do you still have them?

I'm remembering a musical get together with Tom Ribbecke, Bruce Foreman, Julian Lage and Pat Smith, it's the first time I heard Bruce play.

Still hoping someone posts a video (or many videos) of Martin and Bruce playing together.
