In Part 2 of this video series, we explore how to use massage to improve upper body posture, particularly if you have rounded shoulders or forward head posture. We look at the muscles that are tight in upper crossed syndrome, and relate them back to lower crossed syndrome as the foundation for dysfunction. We explore how tightness in the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor pull the shoulders forward, and weak deep cervical flexors and tight cervical extensors further contribute to this posture.
We show how deep tissue massage, such as Rolfing, Graston, or Gua-Sha and appropriate postural strengthening routine can be used to improve posture in the upper body.
