THANK YOU!!!!! I thought I had severe tooth problems, severe pain. My new dentist told me it's TMJ, not my teeth. I tried this technique, and I haven't felt this good in months. Simple and easy to do at home. Thank you for the simple video. Also, thank you for giving this information for free. It has helped me immensely!

OMG after doing the second exercise, and following instructions of NOT expanding to the "pop" point, only after 3 minutes for the first time in years my jaw isn't popping when I open it all the way!!! That is incredible! I tried all sorts of muscles but never had such a relaxed jaw from one specific technique! This is day one, I can't wait to report what it feels like one month from now! I may be exaggerating but I feel like I have a whole new head on my shoulders. Even my stress feels lowered. What a find on KZbin, thank you so much!

That's excellent! Take it slow, resist the urge to "test" constantly (I used to always do that and thwart my own progress, so I speak from experience), and ice as needed. Best of luck!

I suffer from bruxism and have had all sort of ear issues with pressure and ringing. After doing some sinus drainage and ear drainage massage I decided to look for a video for TMJ inflammation. My right ear was so plugged up and ringing, then after doing the first part of this massage I noticed the ringing and plugged feeling has greatly diminished. Definitely going to save this video to do again and again. Thank you for posting it!

@ Yes, but I have to keep at it. I ended up doing physical therapy for my neck and jaw and that really helped. I’m still working on addressing the cause of my jaw clenching because that really is the root cause of it all.

Glad to hear it! My advice here is to avoid the temptation to double or quadruple this work to chase that effect, but rather to be consistent about a daily practice. If you'd like to make it a bit more potent, you can follow with a towel-covered ice pack on your jaw muscles (look up the location of the masseter) for a few minutes following the routine. Best of luck!

I’ve had TMJ for over 20yrs & have tried everything. I’ve worn a night splint to bed for years to help with jaw clenching. Soo many doctors/dentists with differing advice, apart from recommending Botox injections regularly which are way too expensive where I live & not a long term answer. I’ve tried meditating, relaxation videos etc which haven’t stopped it but are nice to listen to anyway lol. TMJ has caused me to have vertigo on & off for years, I’m wondering if anyone here has had that from TMJ also? I loved your video, I haven’t tried this technique before & am hopeful given all the positive feedback comments. Thank you

Hi, yes I’ve suffered from vertigo for 20yrs from TMJ jaw clenching in my sleep. Have spent a fortune on doctors (none of who diagnosed it correctly) & testing for other things but I knew it was from my jaw. Also did/do all the meditation, yoga, relaxation exercises but whilst nice nothing helped. Have worn a mouth splint at night for 30 yrs, it helped for a long time but recently it’s not. I’m hoping with all my might that these exercises help, I can’t afford Botox every few months even if I didn’t mind having it injected into my jaw muscles(which I really really do!) can you pls let me know how ur going with these exercises & if they’ve helped you at all. My vertigo is getting debilitating now so I’m trying everything I can. Thanks in advance & hope ur feeling better 👍🏻

I sure wish I'd found your tutorial before my miserable year+ of expensive diagnostic tests and "treatments" which did virtually nothing (I'm looking at you: x-ray, CT scan, MRI, root canal, crown for fractured tooth, physical therapy, and dental guard). I learned too late through trial and error (mainly error) what you so succinctly and gently explained...a lot of tension in the body is a neurological response to an inappropriate pain loop, and the secret is to slowly and consistently create a new loop of reassuring calm movements within pain range while also providing gentle circulation-stimulation to tissue. Thank you for posting this! I can vouch that you are spot-on. I thought I would never get better because it felt like all medical interventions failed. Your techniques were the missing link.

Just finished my splint therapy for my TMJ disorder. It helped a lot, constant clicking in my jaw has reduced but there's still tension in my jaw
@MassageSloth2 жыл бұрын
I used a splint for several years in my 20s, and it was a great way to get this ball rolling. My advice from here (and please run this by your dentist/doctor) is to use mindfulness to build on the training that you got from the splint therapy. The splint got your nervous system used to a bit of space between your top and bottom teeth, so when you catch your teeth touching, restore that slight space and let your jaw drop by a couple millimeters. The more often you catch yourself with touching teeth and restore the slight jaw drop, the more automatic it will become. Also be aware of anything that might train your jaw muscles to clench or grind: Chewing gum should probably be off the table permanently, and things like jerky might need to be a thing of the past as well. The only thing that you can't directly control is what your sleeping brain does, so the best we can do is try a bit of self-massage before bed (as seen here), and trust that the mindfulness training during the day will carry over to nocturnal activity. You might benefit from the occasional return to splinting if your symptoms worsen, so keep your dentist apprised of your symptoms. Good luck, this can be brought into complete remission (and I'm living proof)!

This is great! It is a very helpful exercise, thanks so much! I subscribed to your channel. Similar to this, i tried softly massaging in front of the jaw and very softly at the back of the jaw, as well as the muscles and connective tissues on the neck, just behind the jaw as well. Shockingly, after doing my three exercises last night, the ones i just mentioned, I woke up completely pain free! And I was in a lot of pain last night, so as you can expect, i was very happy and surprised to awaken pain free after several days of tmj pain. I agree with you, doing these type of exercises retrains your brain to think your jaw is ok and it alleviates the tmj pain, in my case, almost completely. Also, I was using aspirin, with not much luck I switched to advil last night and it was a much better pain reliever... Thanks again, I appreciate your help...
