👊 Nice and I am originally from New Jersey born in Atlantic City.l I worked for Concrete Cutting & Breaking for 10 years in south FL. I ran every piece of equipment made to cut concrete. I was a top operator and hold the record for most hours in a week, 93 hours at a nuclear power plant. lol I mostly ran a remote control wire saw, one of the biggest curb saws there is that I made custom attachments for, ran a super deep cut slab saw with a 90" blade, cored 60" holes and had the baddest cutting truck that I customized. I actually loved the job, Got to go all over the country and worked with some awesome equipment. I never quit or got fired I just slowly stoped working there over a year because I was making way more money recycling transformers. I would still do some curb saw jobs for them for years because no one could cut as fast as me. lol Stay safe I would hate to be cutting in the winter. lol

You might be able to calculate how much copper is in a device like the starters. If it's 80 amps at 13 volts that's about 1000 watts. So I wonder if it has the same amount of copper as the transformers.... It might have less since it's not a long running motor. It won't heat up much in 6 seconds. Thanks for the videos. I really enjoy them.

Thanks. There should be a bit of copper in the starter solenoid as well. I'm gonna break one down and get the %

I was thinking the same thing about having trustworthy help. Maybe set up several security cameras just like the checkout lines in store, put the Camaras up over the stripping station. It sucks that we have to even talk about having trustworthy help. I just believe if you could free up more of your time to do more pickups and bringing as much scrap back everyday that you can that it's at least worth a try. Go through family and friends man and cut them in to where they can make good money with ya. At least that way you can grow and bring along that person as well. Wish you the best with it all man. Def would be cool to see you grow into a massive direct to market scrapper, imaging what your current buyer makes, just being able to go direct would change your business for sure

You might have mentioned this before, but why do both presses share the same hydraulics?
@ProjectShopFl
@ProjectShopFl Жыл бұрын
I have a 2nd pump for the 2nd press but it stoped working and I have not had a chance to look at it. In the beginning I was running a 20 ton air/hydraulic jack in the first press and could only get 3 per minute as fast as I could feed it. The 2nd press had a air/hydraulic foot pedal and could do 5 per minute. Worked great but had issues with the 20 jack blowing air motors from the explosive decompression. Also having to run an air compressor non stop. I traded some LED lights for the 10,000 psi 2 speed pump and the 25 ton cylinder and was a total game changer. Now the first press can run 5 per minute and the 2nd one 7 and when one is unloading and loading a new TX the other can run. It works pretty good because the 2nd is way faster. Hope this helped.

Dang son!! Did you get some days off or have you just got behind cuz business is good?? Looks like Steve is some really good help. I still think if you had a floor pedal instead of having to press a button, you would have both hands free to speed up the compress? Happy Halloweenie!!

Steve looks like he has caught on pretty quickly on how you like to do stuff. It's gotta be nice to have someone helping that you can pretty much tell what you want to get done and just let them go with minimal supervision. Him being able to fix and work out problems has gotta be a plus as well. Also I'm not sure if you've got much access to them but old battery backup devices, especially the rack mount ones have pretty decent transformers in them as well and all the ones I've seen use copper transformers. It might be worth your time to touch base with local IT guys in the area to see about having them save them when they are replaced and letting you get them. i know around here we dont have a eWaste disposal company so when you get the hammer mill/shredder setup going with the water sluice they could be a really good source of electronics boards as well.

5:32 no. No, no, no!! Dude, don't use a worn-down blade on a smaller grinder! Those wheels are designed for a specific speed maximum. a 7-inch grinder spins half the speed of a 4.5-inch grinder, every time you use a worn-down 7-inch wheel in a 4.5-inch grinder you're taking the chance of the blade literally shredding itself. If you're buying good blades, you might get away with it, but the guys who tend to do that also tend to buy cheap zipwheels. I've seen the results and 'not pretty' doesn't start to cover the damage done to the poor benighted fool. He spent a week in hospital and another week at home healing, and he still walks funny.
