For everyone asking why there's a cockroach on the EMF - Cockroaches are sensitive to magnetic fields and they contain particles in their bodies that can get magnetically charged when placed in magnetic field. There are currently actual studies ongoing on how cockroaches use those abilities and how to apply that knowledge to improve magnetic field sensors and make them smaller. It makes some sense scientifically to have a cockroach in a "home-made" EMF detector, as cocroaches exposed to EM radiation show signs of stress which can be measured by checking changing levels of different chemicals in their body. Also apparently exposure to EMF also affects how quickly they react to dangerous levels of heat - cockroaches in EM field react slower and don't try to escape as quickly when you heat them up, which also can be measured. At least that's what I understood from reading an incredibly scientific article. Interesting stuff.

The abaddon is a fun one. when a hunt is going you can chase it around the house with the crucifix out. It's silly and fun to follow a ghost as it runs in fear.

Been diving into demonologist for a while now, this update is really well done, Love the theme, love the map, the inside balcony is so OP for looping 👍😆

I have an idea for a fun phasmo challenge to do in a group. You could do a 2, 1 or 0 evidence run and everyone does the investigation for themselves without communicating their observations. The first person to be 100% sure about which ghost you're dealing with ends the run for everyone and the rest of the group has to make an educated guess based on the evidence they've gathered so far. You could do all kinds of shenanigans, like hiding equipment from each other, misleading each other, triggering hunts when others are in the truck to quickly identify or rule out certain ghosts, etc. Every correctly identified ghost gives you one point and if you're the first you get 2 points, but you also lose 2 points if you're the one to end the investigation and end up being wrong. No penalties for the others if they get it wrong. I don't know how well that would work out in practice or how much fun it would be, but I thought it might be worth sharing. :) not mine thought it was great

I think the problem with several ghost hunting games is that they need some progression system or gamplay loop outside the investigations to make them more replayable. Phasmo works better than others because it depends more on the AI of the ghost to make every game unique. Most games depend more on the unique jumps cares and events so once you have seen most of them they lose replayability. I think a good solution would be to give the player more RPG elements so that a better progresión system could be implemented. Or otherwise add more randomization to the ghost so they feel more unique between each mission.

Fell like metaphysical is kind of doing this with the ghost expert progression and roles you unlock later on. It just need more polishing I think.

I think the idea that you have to test and figure out what the ghosts/demons are like is cool. It's like your actually studying the paranormal instead of a 10 page wiki telling you everything, not that there is anything wrong with that but it also works both ways. There's nothing wrong with the game not handing you information or trying to be different than other games in the genre.

Turn off your flashlight when you’re looking for the salt bags, gun parts or any other secondary objective items. They’re way easier to see highlighted in white against the pitch black. Flashlight can wash it out and make you miss it

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I hope Insym gets some ghosts besides Abbadon. We need someone like him petitioning the devs to fix the horrible hunt mechanics. Ghosts in Demo make Phasmo's Phantom look like an Oni. Edit: the monologue about hunting, gameplay, and "yes people" in the middle of the video is absolutely spot on. Good guy Insym to the rescue.

Hello Insym. About the spiritbox, as long as you hold the left mouse click and talk, it's like you're saying a very long sentence so you won't receive any answer. You need to stop holding the left mouse click from time to time so the Ghost can react to it.

What if hunts didn’t have hiding like Phasmo but focused on items!? Abaddons ignore a crucifix. Maybe other ghosts can be fought off with holy water. Or maybe a demon can be repelled by a bible for a few seconds. Maybe salt could be used like in Supernatural to create a safe circle you can run to during a hunt. I think that the game should lean into the things that make it different!

So many things they could do for ghost banishing other than 'bring item to location'. Lead the ghost to a pentagram to trap it and burn incense around it. In the japanese map, keep 4 candles lit in an enclosed room and stay silent until the ghost leaves. The ghost tries it's best to scare you into making noise. Recite Latin bible verses at it during a hunt before it kills you. Hell, ghostbusters/luigi mansion. Chase it around and try to suck the ghost into a vacuum would be more fun XD

constructive criticism and honest thoughts instead of honeycoating is really important for letting the devs know what is and isn't a good decision. at the end of the day, the devs don't want an avoidance of scrutiny, but rather they want to earn a status relatively free from scrutiny by learning through trial-and-error and f e e d b a c k how to construct their game in the best way possible

Too me feels like if there is hiding spots it would make the game super easy because the only way that I noticed for the ghost to notice you is seeing you. We got wait until they figure something out to counter hiding.

I kinda agree. My biggest gripes are this i guess. Progression, well there is none. No progression to help the gameplay loop. Reliant too heavy on scripted events instead of anything that can be random. No real way to prevent hunts, stop hunts, or be safe during hunts (like he said, feels unfinished). I think the map updates are cool, but I'd like to see them work more on gameplay loop updates as well. New items. New ways to do things. Ect. I dont like that the side missions are manditory for completing the excersism. Id love to see this game thrive. But its holiding itself back.

I feel like no dificulty in phasmo will have you lose sanity as fast as demonologist on hard, also with a candle on phasmo you can have 100% sanity the entire game, there's no such thing in demonologist, also on phasmo you losing sanity is mostly a reaction to environment actions, demonologist you even lose sanity on the tent :')

So, the adblock I use is the one that comes with Opera GX. When I click on a video, it blacks out the ad, and depending on the length of the ad will give me a skip the ad button after like 6 seconds or just skip to the next ad automatically.

I dont know how I got to that, but funny idea for the game. Have a certain ghost that once per game asks a player to choose the ghosts next target. (Like the ghost talking to the person only) So if you play koop you basically doom your friends without them knowing. Or if your tryhard you just know whats gonna happen and you basically trick the ghost.

Another player here who enjoys ghost hunting games and I too was kinda off regarding the 'No Data' on the ghost. I initially assumed it's data gets unlocked as you leveled up or perhaps gets unlocked once you encountered them, but I guess not. Hearing it on this stream that it is being discovered by players and data being discovered are on discord is really odd odd, and made me wonder why it's just there and not just added.

One thing I find kind of immersion breaking about Demonologist is how some ghosts and events just immediately pop up out of thin air, then immediately pop out of existence afterwards. It's like getting a jumpscare in VRChat from someone who has invisible models. A lot of the game looks good otherwise, but that and the points you made are definitely some drawbacks.

You can hide in this game. You break line of sight and hide behind anything or in another room with the door closed. The trick is, you have to be silent or the ghost will find you anyway.

Gygax/Arneson made Hit Points so characters don't die instantly. These games need a sort of Hit Point like mechanic so you don't die on one hit. They should get beaten down through the game. It would be better if they can be knocked unconscious and if they are lucky/saved they wake up in a hospital/bed. They could then have long term injuries that heal over time. Some kind of mechanics like that.

The Phasmo devs' Banshee logic is still half-cocked though. They clearly didn't think about it enough, because there are already NON-Banshee games where the ghost is never in their room. It would actually make sense for the banshee to just follow the player around like a puppy every time; or at least a lot more. At least it'd be consistent and you'd be incentivized to carry a crucifix around in your hand. That'd be different and fun. And, even if the banshee only follows you if you're on the same floor, on big maps or otherwise, who's to say it'll even do it? Or, they will do it and will still bamboozle the player anyway, or you'll just not find the ghost room at all. They should just make it more consistent, or at least tweak the behavior specifically for large maps if it's that much of a perceived issue. I know this isn't your fault and I love your content - I just wanted to point this out.

btw. the word "Hantu" in Indonesia Language, literally means "Ghost". So I feel this kind of copying from Phasmo (I also Don't know why Pashmo took word "Hantu" as a ghost). there is various ghost in Indonesia, why they don't pick one of them. it feels like they didn't have good research on the ghost.
