Great video! I gotta say I'd be really excited for a "castles" themed event where maybe every game had a watchtower (castle) on it to fight over. It's really interesting in the core rules because you actually have to have infantry units to take and occupy the tower. It's my favorite book mission to play because it gives you a really thematic central objective to play for

I know may not be possible logistically but it would be great if you had an event scheduled really far in advance, 6 months etc as would be easier for us foreigners to plan to come over - looks like great fun

Fantastic idea for an event! This sort of thing is what I've been waiting for to play in Old World events. Some interesting options to shake up the dragon meta and make games a bit more interesting
@TheNelsonsd19 сағат бұрын
Looks good fun - would you guys ever consider doing an episode aimed at absolute newbies to both miniature wargaming and the old world? I think because of the audience a lot of old world content assumes knowledge (ie they have played since x edition of fantasy battles or at least dabbled in 40k). Be good to have something aimed at a “blank slate” who has decided their entry point to the hobby is the old world!

I need to get in on this River business when I get around to making more terrain, might make the hippocampus mount on my Duke/Baron make at least SOME sense. I also need to get my finger out and start painting so I can head down at some point, this all sounds too fun

You meant hippopotamus and that's all quite alright, I just had a good chuckle about the idea presented by a duke riding a piece of brain matter. ;)

Thank you for the video and for the Square Based Podcast. I'm new to tabletop gaming and the Old World is my first game. My friend got me into it (and the Total War games) and we are both looking to go to an event next year where it will be great to meet you all and have some games. Thanks again, all the best ❤ #StaySquareBased

Great idea with the terrain/map pack that is evocative of the lore. Youre right too. the plains of Kislev and forests of Athel Loren play differently. some armies will have a tough time. shoulda pizza'd when you french fried

How about an underground tournament? You could have cave in rock falls some artillery dice in from the edges that either end up as blocking terrain or hurt units they land on as a template working like a "shooting attack" would (I thought it would be cool if Evasive units could evade out of taking hits).

Question for the community - as someone who last 'played' fantasy as a 13 year old - basically, completely new, would you suggest i turn up to an event to learn the game?

Id love to see a graded stomp AP value, where infantry/cav, monstrous/chariot and behemoths are graded: So that a behemot gets -2 AP vs infantry/cav, -1 vs monstrous/chariot and -0 vs other behemoths. As well as making monsterous with stomp have -1 against infantry/cav. It would be a somewhat soft balancing of dragons as well as making monsterous mounts somewhat more attractive. Also, remove swift stride from flying behemoths, I think this one is a rather common suggestion.

22:04 I think this idea of a “challenge” is something that would work equally well in 40K but the “everything symmetrical!” hyperbalancing mindset pushes away from really interesting events. If players have to really engage with the board, it stops it being the stereotypical autopilot game that it so often becomes (and I say this with love as a big 40K fan).

Hi Rob, great to see the tourney scene thriving. Have you got any narrative themed tournaments planned for the future (map based campaigns, mission/story related days etc), I love ToW and would love to bring my Chaos Dwarfs some time, but am worried I’m not very tournament minded and competitive! I’ve been going to the awesome Box of Frogs narrative campaigns and loved them so far! Tom (PRAISE HASHUT)!!
